I had a 3 button Vmoda Bass Freq Metal in ear buds for several years and they were spectacular. Really great sound, deteriorated after a while obviously but still gave me good quality and took a longtime to finally break.

>screwball
It'd be a plus if I could use them as a mic plugged into my PS4 controller.

I've been looking at Bowers Wilkins C5 S2 because I've heard great things about their sound quality. That's pretty much the reason why my budget is at 150.

yes

both are worthless for audio

Are the X2 worth the extra money to upgrade from a pair of SHP9500s? Some reviews say build quality is slightly better and have marginal differences sound wise. Other reviews say it's night and day, anyone here have experience with both?

>and have marginal differences sound wise
Considering they've got extremely different sound signatures, yes, they'd be quite different. Pads are softer, and the suspension system is nice. Soundstage is a fair wack wider.

Raw sound quality wise, It's a decent step up, though nothing to blow your load to. Highs aren't as grainy as the 9500s.

If you like the sound sig of your 9500s, you'd probably want to look more to HD600s or K612s. The X2's are a pretty radical change in terms of sound, so you'd want to at least know if you like that signature first. HD600/K612 are a safer bet.

X2 are considerably more darker, clear and bassy, while highs aren't as elevated and grainy, this also means they aren't fatiguing for long periods. Build quality and comfort are also superior but that much is a given considering the price difference.

x2 is bassy
shp9500 is bright
they're literally the opposite of eachother

if you want an shp9500 upgrade, have a look at AKG, pretty much all the shit they make is bright.
702 is prob your best bet, 7XX/612 if you want a slight bass boost as well

Are pads defective if when you squeeze them and you hear the air going out?

What are some good earbuds that around around the $50-100 range?

Opinions on the DT880?

I AM FUCKING INFURIATED

Couple days ago i asked about MEE M6 pro and decided to orded them. Got them 15 minutes ago and tried them out. THIS PIECE OF SHIT SOUNDS LITERALLY EXACTLY THE SAME AS MY LESS THAN $1 IN EAR HEADPHONES. EXACTLY THE SAME. My fucking destroyed apple ipod earbuds sound billion times better than this piece of shit. I tested them on different devices and they are pure shit tier. On top of that you can hear that fucking buzzing noise.

Are you me? For ears I suffered with broken apple ipod earbuds, because /poor/. It got so bad that eventually only one side was working but I continued having to use them for months. Then I got a tip from /csg/ and ordered chink in ear earbuds for 1 cent including shipping. When they finally arrived 4 weeks later I was blown away by how good they sounded. Now I'm at the stage of wanting to get a dedicated pair of headphones. I won't get in ear again but will opt for over the ear headphones. Why did you go for in ear again when you already had a nice pair of cheap ones?

Anyone?

>non mechanical component
>defective
kek

What's the difference, aren't they both lossless?

16 bit & 24 bit

The sewing could be bad somewhere or something like that. So it it normal to be able to hear the air on a squeeze or not?

>Why did you go for in ear again when you already had a nice pair of cheap ones?
I use superlux hd668b for my pc at home. Im using ipod shuffle 2g when im at the gym or riding my bike. After years my earbuds worn out a bit. After listening to my gym playlist at home and then going to the gym and switching to earbuds i've noticed how shitty and bland it sounds so i've decided to get decent earbuds for lifting.

I've spent almost twice as much on those shit IN EAR MONITORS than on my headphones and you can clearly tell it sounds cheap as fuck. Im not an audiopedophile and for me hd688b sounds perfect but they are too big and obnoxious to wear them outside. I don't know what to do anymore.

also, i wore those shit earbuds for 3 minutes and my ears hurt like motherfucker and this retarded memory wire is the most annoying thing ever and it requires AT LEAST two hands to put in single earpiece

That's actually not air, they fill those ear pads with chlorine gas to help increase the longevity of the foam. If you're hearing gas escaping that means there's a leak.

You should probably leave the room or at least open a window.

you got memed.
If in ear head on over to >>>/csg/

i just want something that sounds like 688b but is not as big

Ebin.

Beyerdynamic Custom Streets

Both are lossless, one is in higher precision. Really doesn't matter which one you get.

have a look at e10

Is there a huge difference between front audio(case) and the rear audio(motherboard) if I would connect headphones ? Or should I always use motherboard and front panel is haram ?

Bass good although almost nig tier.
Mids and treble are nice.
Wide soundstage for a closed set.
>Superlux 681/668B
681's were too bright.
Bass was clean and deep though too tight.
Treble ear rape.
668B's is about the perfect amount (EQ'd down mid bass and up the rest of the drop off).
Treble's fine and mids are clean although slightly recessed.

I'm stuck between K7XX/K712 and DT 880's. Any other suggestions or replies would be great, thanks.

Can't go wrong with Sennheiser HD5*8 or 5*9

Shure SE215 or RHA MA750
Both are extremely durable and sound great in their own way.

Soundmagic e80 is tops if you like neutral-to-bright.

hd600+e10k is still king lads. Just saying.

DT880

Just pick your poison.

Hey, I need some new earbud/phones for the first time in forever. It seems like nowadays they're all the kind that go way in your ear, but I hate how that feels. I want the kind that sit in your ear but don't have the bit that actually plugs inside of your ear canal.

Any recommendations on ones like that that are decent? Not super picky but I don't know shit.

Bought the Superlux 668B on some recommendations. I also got new earpads, but I have a question. Do I stack the foam layers, use the original foam, or use the new foam that came with the pads?

Hd650 or HD6xx

Stack them, they'll need it.

Just get apple earbuds

The k712's are pretty bassy and they have great detail and soundstage. They're much better than the x2's besides build quality. The gel pads on them are also god tier.

Thoughts on the Skullcandy Crushers?

Garbage with sliders to fake bass

Logitech G930 which I would like to replace: no driver support on Linux and they are about to die.
Audio Technica ATH-M40x: I like the sound. Might buy a second pair if more expensive ones don't have a better sound.

How so?

Never going back to over ears

How do I get that top headband out of the HD600? I'm looking at it and it just seems impossible to actually get out.

why not another pair ?

wew lad, bold

i just got the superlux 668b, any recommeded eq settings/software? The treble reduce preset in musicbee sounds pretty nice

Thoughts on the Audio Technica ATH-MSR7?

buying the exact same thing just feels bad

Equalizer APO with Peace GUI

Well there's some new Sennheiser with HD5** with closed back and they're extremely comfortable
IIRC HD569 and also the HD598CS

Don't care who grill?

How do the HD 558s and Fidelio X2s compare and contrast?

I'm wondering what my next upgrade should be, currently own the 558s

Generic Asian Slut™ #54821624

蜜柚mio

Chill the fuck out user. I hear small buzzing noises with all kinds of IEMs, it's because the impedance is low and whatnot. They can't sound *that bad*...can they? Look I know what 1$ sounds like. I got a freebee one time as a hyundai promotion shit. Came in a little box like apple earpods but oh god...that sound still triggers me. don't ever underestimate just how shitty your audio can get

Hmm...they should honestly not be too far apart except the x2s are slightly better performers(More extension at the extreme lows and highs).

before you think of upgrading, try doing the foam mod first if you already haven't. I'm gonna be completely honest, the hd558/598 are pretty fucking good already. My dad bought my cousin a pair of hd579s and they sounded amazing straight off an iphone. And I own a pair of hd650s. Don't expect major differences past this point but the x2 would be a decent upgrade if you don't mind a little more bass presence.

M40x is the hot new meme these days.
No seriously though, they seem solid as fuck. Why not try a pair of those?
>similar design
>still audio technica

How does a USB amp+DAC work exactly? Is the laptop sending decoded bitstream audio to the DAC or is the amp+DAC doing the decoding?

Not that user, but as an owner of the 558s, I'm kind of scared about doing the foam mod, I don't know if I'd like it. I already think the bass is a little on the low side with these cans and I've heard removing the foam changes the bass profile quite a bit.

Would you advise against it for someone like me?

Well I guess if you already like the bass then no. Keep the foam.

In that case, you'll probably really like the X2s. I don't speak from personal experience but everyone seems to say they have lots of bass without being overpowering or muddy.

it's more of a sensation to cause rattling in your head to fake bass

also terrible build quality and sound

>m40x
no you idiot, it was the hot meme 4 years ago. now people realize they're uncomfortable as fuck and don't sound great to similar priced competitors. why the fuck are you recommending the most uncomfy headphones when he specifically asked for one is beyond me.
go for the beyer dt 770s. they're probably the most comfortable closed headphone in your budget.

Because you can change the fucking pads. Or literally buy a 2$ pair of foams to put inside and make them wider so that they're not uncomfortable you goddamn scrub.

Also, I'd love to know what similarly priced competitors are flat out better? Mind you, you can get the m40x for like 80$ on amazon

The x2's are pretty muddy compared to other high end headphones. If the build quality wasn't so good I don't think people would recommend them so much. Fine details and vocals can sound trash compared to the hd600's for exmaple, even the 702's sound much better. It all comes down to how much you care about bass.

Looking for a pair of open back headphones, I have the SHP9500 and I love the way they sound. They just don't clamp enough and feel kinda flimsy on the head. I've been looking at the HD600, would a fiio e10k drive these?

don't get hd600, as you're coming from a bright headphone they'll sound vastly different. have a look at AKG's lineup, 702 will probably suit you the best
7XX/612 are also good, possibly cheaper options that have a slight bass boost as well

change the for $20 extra nice. lets forget how the ear gets crushed and how the headband flakes after a year as well and there's no good replacements. or we could just get dt 770s or akg 550/553s, which are both in his budget and superior. fuck, superlux 662 evos are better and cheaper too.

Everyone's ears are different. Some might think the x2s are perfectly neutral. Others might think they're beats tier.

supposedly they're good performers and you can hear the details with them just fine.

ya pretty much what this dude said.careful with the 700 series though. Every audiophile apparently LOVES them but the earlier editions have a critical flaw where bass leaks. Hence why they sound so "detailed" but at the same time are slightly ear rapey and have almost no subbass whatsoever.

I'm gonna leddit edit here:
Some people like that...if you're a critical listener this is great.

If you just like music...maybe not so much

Are they any good? Has anyone here actually owned a pair?

they look like a fashion accessory, that doesn't instill much faith

What's the story with Beyerdynamic DT770. The product picture never has this weird gray cushion that youtube reviewers have

Don't trust reviews for these. They were sending them out like candy, even to people that don't review headphones. Even youtubers that focus on retro games ended up giving their opinions on these.
I say avoid them and get something else.

So will anyone respond seriously?

What kind of retarded fucking question is that?

What kind of fucking retarded pads make annoying sounds when you press them a little?

see

The shitty kind of pads

Then why is everyone here memeing the hm5 pads?

ALL manufacturers do that. You can't fault them for trying to gain some traction since they're not as known as established brands. I couldn't care less about marketing.

All I want is an opinion from someone who actually tried them for few days.

>they look like a fashion accessory, that doesn't instill much faith
so good looking things are bad? are you retarded?

it's a common theme though
Beats look good but are shit
Skull Candys look beautiful but are shit

List the top 5 full size headphones that you have extensively tried. For me :

1.HD600
2.HD650
3.AKG K712
4.AKG 702 (would be third if it had any weight behind it)
5. Fiio X2

Thoughts on the Sennheiser Momentums?
They seem to be everything I'm looking for but before I buy one I want to see what others think of them

So ... by how much am i off meeting these criteria when buying DT770s ?

Got the Momentum 2 over ears.
They're fucking great, but only if you can get them on sale. About 250 would be the absolute most I would pay for them. I paid around 200 + taxes.
Sound and comfort are both amazing.

Audeze LCD-2's are bad too then. Everything nice is bad. OK,got it. Thanks user.

PS: Please post less. We have enough retards on here as it is.

I never owned a pair, but I've used em. My main issue was cup size. They're not that large, and not very deep. At first they're really comfy but they get really annoying after a while. This is probably because I have giant ears, and very little is comfortable to me. Try them on in store if you can, or abuse Amazon's return system. The headband system is quite nice though.

They're pretty dark sounding imo. I'd personally take the Oppo PM3 over them any day, but they're a decent bit more in price.
