Some Vaio C1

why do you retards always post these tiny laptops
netbooks are dead get a life

Vaio PCG-C1MW
They sell for $200 or so on eBay.

I love laptops that lag running even the most barebone linux terminal with no background processes

It's not a netbook. Also how ironic that a normalfag like you comes here and expects everyone else to only have their boring and shallow interests.

Fuck off back to facebook.

>2.5hr battery life
Fucking amateur hour. Try the 200LX.
>full desktop DOS
>40 hour battery life on AA batteries
>PCMIA, IR, serial

>looks like a fucking calculator
kys

Its an even earlier and more primitive and laggy netbook. With even worse battery life and ergonomics. Which is almost unbelievable seeing at netbooks were the worst thing to happen to tech since Oracle bought sun

He won't be using it for anything practical, so it doesn't fucking matter how fast it is.
Also smartphones were a much worse thing to happen

It's sad how technically a decent UMPC is possible now but now there is no interest for one anymore.

>smartphones are shit meme

There really should be an autism test to post.

Smartphones brought tons of normalfags onto the internet and made every website "responsible" aka compatible with monkeys.

It runs a fully programmable OS without arbitrary restrictions, and the battery lasts long enough that you can take it on a trip without worrying. And it has a fully physical keyboard.

That automatically makes it more useful than any of the current crop of phones/tablets/phablets with their locked down interfaces, consistently laggy UI despite ever increasing processing power, gulping down milliamps like a tumblrina at a cake convention, expecting me to patiently stab a capacitive piece of glass with my thumb while hoping it can eventually guess what I'm trying to write.

An iPad is basically a comfy YouTube machine. With a different approach to the software and a standard keyboard, it could be so much more.

Yea I really miss blinking font HTML and flash.

I think it would be bad ass to have a full desktop os and a real keyboard that could fit in my pocket.

I miss actual content that isn't just copypasted from wikipedia.
Look up the GPD win

Clearly smartphones fault that content creators are lazy. Yes.

you are too young to understand

thanks user

>GPD win
What is the battery life like? The first demo video shows it running Crysis.

>Look up the GPD win

I know beggars can't be choosers but it looks so shitty. Nowhere near as cool as old UMPCs.

>run OSes that have spyware packaged with them by default unless you go out of your way to install a custom ROM without spyware, which many companies go out of their way to prevent you from doing
>it's considered acceptable to package spyware with software for smartphones, therefore a majority of "apps" include spyware
>have had many features stripped out due to those features not appealing to modern casuals (removable battery, expandable storage, physical keyboards)
>the limitations of smartphones when compared to laptops/desktops have driven down the quality of online discussion due to the vast majority of people who use smartphones for posting on various websites not wanting to put in the extra effort to overcome those limitations

would be unusable as a web browsing device due to the excessive waste of vertical space in modern web design

Forgot one
>replaced a many dedicated devices that did their individual jobs better than smartphones with a single jack of all trades master of none device with all of the previously listed problems that those older dedicated devices didn't have
I challenge anyone to find a worse device to become mainstream than smartphones, and actually explain how that device made things worse.

They do in Japan, look at the Sony VAIO Z or viliv n5 for example.

I agree, but at least it exists.

Can someone recommend me something like this but a bit more common?

...

It doesn't really exist unfortunately. There are a few devices mentioned in this thread that you might find interesting.

(You)

ur shits dumb as fuck idiot, retarded ass useless fucking screen, retarded ass useless keyboard, id rather use a goddamn touchscreen that then fucking utter garbage, and blutooth keyboards/keybord docks/type covers exist

jesus fucking moron goddamn take your fucking widescreen casio watch and fuck off out of here

the internet, as it let autistic idiots like you let your voice be heard

did you know sony still makes fancy vaio latops

They also made smart phones adorable.

Fuck you guys will hate anything. Just root your phone and let others subsidize the cost for you.

Smartphones are dope. I just got a date with my smart phone sitting on my couch watching TV.

On a palm top all I would have got is in a argument with some 400 pound dude on Usenet, and maybe some porn.

The big difference between that and devices like the 200LX is that you can't support them with your hands, you have to rest them on something. I basically want a reasonably powerful x86 PC in a palmtop form factor with useful battery life.

It's a really niche market so I'm not surprised I'm not catered for, but it feels like portable computers have actually gone backwards since the 200LX. Modern tablets are many times more powerful but they're also painful to use for anything more interactive than netflix.

>Vaio VGN-P13GH
>underpowered
>glorious build quality
>it's a SONY
>400 Kangaroo bucks
>GPDWin
>can actually run Crysis
>chink build quality
>550-600 bucks

Which one should I get?

Who the fuck would use this

kinda cool thb

t. fuckin' chinese laptop company shill

fuck that shit

nice

I'm currently using a IBM X40 from 2005 or so. It is perfectly fine for everyday use as long as you're not 3D gaymen. I'm using Debian and XFCE. It's perfect.

Hello fellow LX enthusiast. It is truly a patrician machine.

are you kidding? netbooks are GOAT. Small, lightweight, portable, all the tools you need to connect to the internet. The only people who hate on netbooks are gaymers and winbloat users.

Doesn't seem like it would have a wifi card. Does it support a PCMIA wifi adapter?

There is at least one that's supported but it draws a shit ton of juice. There is IR networking hardware for it from the period though, that works fine.

That's because it kind of is, it was made by HP's calculator division and is really pretty much just a glorified PC-compatible graphing calculator.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, though. Trying to apply big laptop/PC design ideas on a calculator scale is fucking retarded anyway.

They make fucking great PIM devices especially with the built-in spreadsheet.

Thoughts: RIP eye sight. I couldn't last 5 minutes staring at that tiny piece of shit. Getting any amount of work done on that would be unbearable.

It has a built in zoom function for the screen so shit isn't so tiny if you don't want it to be.

Research and debate continues, but the general consensus is that it is unlikely that near work could cause or worsen myopia in adults. It could cause eye strain but that's a temporary thing and easily mitigated by following the 20-20-20 rule.

Do you also find smartphones hard to look at for extended periods (e.g. browsing)?

8.9" screen, it's not that bad.

Have 10" Panasonic laptop and used it as main computer for months with no problems. It's even comfy in a strange way working on such small screen.

how's the HDD?
or do you have a SSD?
