Literally every site claims that killing background apps doesn't speed up your phone or improve battery life. Google maps was running slow on my friends iPhone and it sped up as soon as he killed the background apps. 1st gen iPhones/pods didn't have a task manager and I can't remember them running slow except for when their storage maxed out. Who is decieving me
Why are phones getting worse

Phones have constantly been getting better. It's toddler pretend phones (iPhones) that have been getting worse.
Let's run down the list
Android phones let you:
>have real encryption with no backdoors
>download over 100MB over mobile data
>install a third party app launcher and icons
>use it as a flash drive
>share any kind of file over wifi/bluetooth
>torrent via torrent clients in the playstore
>install apps outside the playstore
>modify a few system settings to increase performance and decrease battery drain
>manually control complex camera functions via third party apps
>natively browse files
>view better colors via amoled displays
>browse Sup Forums and natively open webms inside them via third party apps
>extract/browse archives
>add additional phone storage via a micro SD card
>replace the stock battery with a bigger one
>add widgets to your home screen
>access important functions by swiping down
ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO HACK YOUR PHONE
You can spout all the "lagdroid XDddd---" memes you want but Android phones truly are more advanced than itoddler phones and the reason why they hold over 90% of the global smartphone market share right now.
Sounds like fun.
And a total waste of time. I've got better things to do than endlessly "ricing" my phone for menial benefits.
Yeah, lag and constantly having to reload shit is the bomb huh?
>actually using your phone for the same things you would otherwise have to carry a laptop around for is ricing and not efficient use of technology
you're a fucking retard
2 out of the 17 things listed has to do with ricing... if you know so little why not fuck off?
dumb phone poster
stupid grandpap4desktopposter
lol i bet you think amd gpus are good too
>is a manchild who plays call of dooty all day in their parents basement
where did it all go wrong user?

I'm a former Android zealot that now rolls with an iPhone 7, and I can honestly say that I miss almost none of those things.
I'm sad that I don't get to have a code editor that can compile/preview, and the shit with webm is mildly annoying (on exactly one website), but the rest of that stuff I either don't miss or found other adequate ways to do. I don't really need SD cards when I have 128 GB of local storage and a terabyte of cloud storage, and I don't really need to use my phone as a flash drive either, again due to the aforementioned cloud storage. I also carry USB power bank(s) rather than buying larger batteries, because power banks are an investment that improves *all* your devices, not just one, and their commodity status makes them piss-easy to find, and just as easy to find a great value.
And I always hear people going on about torrenting on their fucking phones. How are you going to seed on your phone, and more to the point, how are you going to do it without demolishing your battery life and/or your data cap? If you're on Wi-Fi at home, why don't you have a Raspberry Pi running Transmission+Web Interface that can download and seed on a reliable stationary connection, like you're supposed to? Hell, my torrents run on a computer I salvaged from the local electronics recycling center for LITERALLY TEN DOLLARS, and they've been running like that more or less 24/7 for about a year. Seriously, stop bringing up torrenting on phones like it's legitimately a good use case. It almost never is.

>and the reason why they hold over 90% of the global smartphone market share right now.
you fell for the meme
>the reason why they hold over 90% of the global smartphone market share right now.
I'm no iPajeet, but let's be real, that's not the real reason Android is dominant. Android is dominant because there are a lot of cheap Android phones and internet penetration is exploding in the third world because smartphones are the primary way people access the internet there.
Got an iphone for free years ago, and it progressively gets worse.
Just last week apple decided that my old iphone shouldn't be allowed to use youtube anymore.
Now you "need" ios 8.0 for that, which isn't available for this iphone.
They can't make me upgrade by releasing better phones, so they instead make my existing phone worse.
No he's right, iphone market share has been steadily tanking for a while now.
Also despite loans, credit cards, contracts, and leases existing (what most use to get iphones) iphone market share is still going down.
Fact is people now want to use their phones for more than texting and calling. I that regard apple can't deliver so people are forced to use android.
The iPhone can do everything normies want. The main reason Android dominates the the world is that people in Latin America, Africa, and Asia can't necessarily afford iShit. Pic related is a bit outdated, but still, it shows that if people around the world could afford iPhones, Apple's market share would be bigger.
>Also despite loans, credit cards, contracts, and leases existing (what most use to get iphones) iphone market share is still going down.
You still have to pay back loans and credit cards. Some ghetto people use those because they're obsessed with status, but most people are smart enough not to buy iShit when they can't afford it. How else do you explain the difference in market share between developed and developing markets?
You don't get it, stupidity doesn't suddenly disappear over a year. iPhones have lost their "look and le me, i'm le rich XD". People are turning to samshit, lg, google, and other android companies for that.
The poor getting loans, credit cards, contracts, leases hasn't magically ended. Instead they just buy a phone with a different logo now.
I think apple's biggest farce that drove people away from them was the touch disease thing, no point in having an iPhone to show off it you can't even show your friends the latest blurry photo of you in the bathroom holding said iphone.
We're talking about the global market, not just the west. Apple's market share is slowly declining in the west because the iPhone has lost its luster, you're right about that. But the main reason that Android is so dominant *globally* is that the biggest markets are full of poor people. Poor people are smart enough not to take out loans to buy shit they can't afford most of the time.
>Poor people are smart enough not to take out loans to buy shit they can't afford most of the time.
If this were true then most of them wouldn't be poor in the first place.
Poverty is due to people allocating resources they have very poorly, which like 80% of the world is good at.
This is coming from an immigrant born in el salvador (central america) who got his citizenship here in the US. I went back to my shithole to visit family last year and guess what? The ones living in FUCKING MUD HOUSES had expensive phones (mostly samshit android) and clothes. They we're literally african poor but still managed to fuck themselves over by getting contracts, leases, loans of some sort JUST so they could look not poor. It's massively saddening that most of the world can't get a fucking grip in life even when they desperately need to get out of poverty.
Do you seriously live in a world where subsistence farmers in bumfuck Africa just prefer $200 Android phones over $700 iPhones? That's absurd. These people need internet access because it helps them find customers for their products, find employees to work on their farms, etc etc. An entry level smartphone is the cheapest way to do that.
There's a shitton of reasons people are poor, smart people can be poor because of governments or other factors. 2008 wasn't caused by people just deciding to get lazy all of a sudden. The Soviet Union wasn't poor because people just didn't want to work.
I'll agree, most people in the first world are poor because of bad decision making, but not globally.
What do the numbers mean? Shouldn't they add up to something near 100%?
Also it's kind of stupid to paint Europe entirely in blue, because there are huge differences, In Germany Android has an marketshare of nearly 90%
Pic is from 2015
The thing is, it wasn't $200 android phones. I'm talking galaxy S6/S7 in mud houses.
And again yes, the biggest reason for poverty is failure to properly allocate resources. During times of peace 80% of the world still manages to make horrible financial decisions. Good for the capitalist jews but bad for people in general.
That retard could have easily invested those ~20$ he pays monthly for his s6/s7 in fucking bricks and mortar yet he chose not to.
My picture was shitty, it was just the first that popped up when I searched. There's something weird with Papua New Guinea and Uruguay on it too. Yours is a lot better, but it still illustrates the point I'm making. Android is growing in the developed world, but iOS is only popular in the first world.
You have anecdotal evidence. Not hard data.
Nigeria has a GDP per capita of $2,640 (much higher in PPP, but PPP is controversial), do you think it's a fucking coincidence that people decide not to spend around a fourth of their yearly earnings on a phone?? Do you seriously think it's a coincidence that the only countries where iOS is dominant are developed countries?
>In Germany Android has an marketshare of nearly 90%
Not saying you're wrong, but with the amount of people using iPhones I'm seeing this is hard to believe.
>You have anecdotal evidence. Not hard data.
You can always go to the third world yourself. It is VERY commonly seen in Brazil and the people that works in social programs often makes jokes about someone poorer than them, living in welfare, having the capacity to buy a fucking samsung.
Ok I googled that,It is something around 80%, I overstated a bit, sorry
use clover desu senpai, it plays webms
>Poverty is due to people allocating resources they have very poorly, which like 80% of the world is good at.
You're fucking retarded. You're not entirely wrong, but you're still fucking retarded.
>t. i hate to have possibilities so everyone should be as brain-dead as me
>have real encryption with no backdoors
This point alone makes everything else irrelevent as not a single phone out there does not have a build-in hardware backdoor.
>use it as a flash drive
less and less worth it as android partitioning design is a nightmare and a pile of hacks over other hacks for a decade now.
mtp is the lazy solution manufacturers have found to not have to fix google mess.
add to this:
>almost no support from manufacturers
2 years of software support is far from enough
>updates are too slow
having to wait more than a month is unnaceptable. They should ditch all the crap they put on the roms and stick as close as possible to AOSP and contribute to upstream
>crappy experimentation with the java runtime
wtf is that thing that mix JIT and AOT technologies.
Having a more or less native language that does not require voodoo hacks at runtime to perform great is far better than the current android situation
I can't see the appeal of android from a technical POV and even less from a consumer POV (google botnet).
>inb4 muh iToddler
I don't have a smartphone as they're technical heresies given how bad they're designed and how incompetent most devs are.
mtp hasn't been a problem since lollipop
>what are carrier/manufacturer OTA updates
they exist, shocking I know
still better than ios updates gimping older devices
Java hasn't been a problem since lollipop and is the reason why the oneplus 3t shits all over the iphone 7 plus
Then why are you giving your opinion on them? You're like that virgin priest who never so much as held hands with a girl telling married couples how to live their lives.
