Kaby Lake has been released! Skylake is depreciated if corresponding chips are similarly priced (e.g., i5 7600K vs i5 6600K)!
>Some motherboards will have a one-click, 5GHz on air OC button that works for 80% of i5 7600Ks
>100 series chipsets (Z170, B150, ect) don't work out of the box with Kaby Lake
>Z series chipsets have an "Enhanced Turbo", which allows all cores to run at the highest single core boost clockspeed (works for Skylake CPUs as well)
>Pentiums now have hyperthreading, and are thus the new default budget / entry level gaming CPUs
>Pentium G4560 is the best price / perf four thread CPU on a modern platform
>All Kaby Lake CPUs work natively with 2400MHz DDR4 memory
>Do not underestimate the impact of fast (>2400, e.g, 3000MHz) RAM in conjunction with a Z series chipset, which often provides as much of a performance boost as a CPU overclock

>Get some aftermarket fans with some self-tapping screws
>Didn't fit the screws in outside of the case first
>Really sloppy threads, looks kind of like your girl's asshole when I was done with it
Lesson learned.

So I currently have 3x 23" 1080p 60hz monitors and would like to upgrade to a higher resolution monitor for my main display and then have 2x portrait displays for the sides as I currently need more desk space. Would it be worth getting a 1440p 120+ hz monitor if the other two are still 60hz? Also I don't play games so would the extra hz even matter?

*buys LED fan*

you scoundrel you

What RX480 should I get?

>Try to buy an SSD on mvwave
>Checkout page asks for bank login
>wtf is this
>Even their stupid McAfee logo refuses to load and assert security

WTF

Not trolling. Source:

mwave.com.au/help/faq/view/76

Looks like those security seals were literally just embedded images to some other site that used to host them, so if they were working, they violate McAfee and Norton's terms.

Kaby Lake is a scam

TIL: Paying an Indian to logon to your bank account and read your transaction history is technology.

Babby lake is finished because Ryzen will support Win 7.

>mvwave
Look it up, scam company.

Stop posting this

I just did. Looks like this bank detail thing was all over Reddit for a while. How the hell is this legal?

Is there a way to watercool a GPU without using a custom loop?

Which SSD should i buy? I was about to go for MX300 520 GB, but my friend told me some shit about worse memory type, failure rate and whatever, and i don't know what to do. What are some alternatives for that price?

Hybrid cooling is a thing. I personally think its a waste of time as vrms are temperature sensitive for effeciency and pushing mental overclocks requires lots of power.

Expandable AIO loop like Alphacool Eisbaer?

Should I switch my PSU to semi-fanless mode or full-fan mode?

Why do you care? Unless you are hot boxing your psu it only matters if you like the lower noise at low loads.

I don't see why you wouldn't get semi-fanless, it's not like its heating up a shit load by supplying 20% max load or less

Hi Sup Forums
I got a new condo and I've given my old PC to my family. I'm using a meme acer laptop which is by far the worst investment in my life (i7 6700hq, gtx960m, 16gb ddr4, 120gb ssd, 1tb hdd, overheats like a bitch even with chrome).

My old PC had i5-2500k, amd 6970 and 8 gigs of ram. I'm looking into buying something that would fit into smallest case possible, something like Mac Mini (which is looking good imo).
Not a gaymer, I'd still want to run some new titles just to check em out. My old PC struggled with The Witcher 3, I need a PC that would run TW3 in 1080p at max details with 50+ fps (not falling for 60fps meme).

I was considering i5-7500 and RX 460. Maybe i5-7500 is overkill? I'm looking for the cheapest build possible ofc, only intel cpus

Build my first pc here for casual gaming, every is already working, the thing is, i was thinking of getting a RX 460 but it turns out i can actually get an RX 480, the problem being that, according to PCpartPicker the whole consumption will be around 419W and my current EVGA is 430W, so my question is, is the consuption presented by PCpartPicker enough to fuck thing up or will the EVGA endure untill i can get something around 600W?

So how much longer do I have to wait for Another Massive Dissapointment?

Kabylake has already been released user.

It will do. But it is working hard and could have early death, thus sending errant voltage and causing more damage.

what's with all the monitors

I'd just get 3x 1080

Quality psu's will run at full load (as long as they are kept within optimum temperature range) basically forever.

Kaby lake is fine if you are upgrading 4th gen cpu or older. Not worth it if you have a skylake obviously.

My table is too small for 3 monitors. I'm be using the 1080 with on in portrait. Getting the bigger one to try out 1400p when I'm over 1080 I guess.

anything i can do to minimize the consuption (like turning of one fan or two) would help?
Does that include EVGA 430W 80+ though?

>Kaby lake is fine if you are upgrading 4th gen cpu

"no"

Should be fine. What is the maximum ambient temps it experiences?

k

Around 35° during summer.

She'll be right m8.

Thanks mate, i was really worried for a moment there, i will still get something around 600W in the future so i have some margin for upgrades, but it's nice to know i don't have to stop everything just to buy it now.

>tfw 24 pcie lanes

Fuck off you retarded Intel shill. Kelvin Lake is TRASH.

>>Some motherboards will have a one-click, 5GHz on air OC button that works for 80% of i5 7600Ks

I haven't looked into this but I find this very hard to believe.

Is anyone using a Samsung S24F350FHU?

I got 4.9 on air with auto tuning on my 7600k. But I put it back to stock as 40°C+ ambient temps dont help even with stock clocks.

I have an AMD A10 APU, is it worth building a new pc with a 7th gen intel and RX480 or just put the RX480 in with the A10 APU?

just buy Ryzen

>just get a shit smear

AyyyMD current cpus are total shit either wait for Ryzen or if you're impatient go Intel
my Intel Suggestions are:

Budget Pentium G4560 shit is so cache

Mid i5-7500 or the i5-6500 can be overclocked but needs a Z170

high i5-6600k/7600k or i7-6700k/7700k

The cheapest Intel Processor I can get in my country is Pentium G4400.

Is this good enough? I'm not a gaymer, I just play league of legends every now and then

Yes but G4560 is much better. The only reason to get the G4400 would be BCLK OC.

If you aren't pairing it with dgpu I really wouldn't want to get a pentium of any flavour even for LoL - AMD's apus are much, much better for the job.

>G4560

I can't find this anywhere. I think it's not available here yet

Lol wat, where do you live? Anyways, then get the G4400 and a 1050Ti or RX470.

This. I used a a10 6700 for two years, it played everything I wanted at medium 1080p, 30-40 fps. It'll handle lol and similar perfectly fine.

That looks pretty cool

That depends on what you want. I've been using a 980 with an a10 for a while, it works fine. But it bottlenecks hard. If you don't care about a solid 60 fps in current gen games, it can be a good idea to get the card and save for a full upgrade.

EKWB are getting in on that and their AIO (the predator) is basically a pre-filled custom loop.

>country
>USA

Considers USA a worthwhile country. Fuck off rednex pleb.

>I was considering i5-7500 and RX 460
Don't. The RX460 will bottleneck you hard. Even if you're not a gamer, get at least a RX470 4G.
>I'm looking for the cheapest build possible ofc
Cheapest build would be something like a 6500 + H110 + RX4704G.
>only intel cpus
Why not wait for Zen? It's almost here and if AMD drops the ball with this you can always get an i5.

>consumption will be around 419W and my current EVGA is 430W
It will endure it but you're already in the danger zone with such a load on that PSU. Upgrade it as soon as you can.

Been editing this build for my first PC (for gaymen purposes) over the past month. How is it? I need suggestions on what monitor to get in particular.

pcpartpicker.com/list/Thp3d6

>look mom i posted it again
What the fuck is wrong with you? You've been given advice mutliple times already?

Any of you lads rip cassettes or vinyl? What soundcard do you use?

Odd question. I rip/record cassettes with an older Kenwood hifi-system since i have a cassette radio in the car.
Don't own any vinyls, though.. maybe look at some Audio Technica gear, read that they make some decent vinyl equipment.

so western digital has the worst modern drives

at least seagate fixed their issues

t. goldstein

I want to build a rig for csgo (low settings) at constant 200-250fps. Im willing to spend around 700. Should I get the i5 6500 with rx470/480 or would the i3 6300 with rx470 do? Trying to avoid the pentium cpus

Anyone tried building one of the smaller mITX cases? Were there any unexpected bits or things that would be helpful to know?

>200-250fps
Are you retarded?

if you go to pcpartpicker, look through the completed builds. you can see what sort of GPU clearances you'll have or what sort of air flow will be required.

i was about to buy a Phanteks Enthoo ITX until I realized they had terrible air cooling potential, so I went ATX instead

haha

anything wrong with this?

Get a Samsung 960 Evo instead of the Intel 600p, the 212 EVO is not enough for a 7700K OC, the PSU is overpriced and overkill, see if you can find a EVGA G2/3, Super Flower Leadex II or SeaSonic G with 550/650W for less.

People will tell you that you'll need a better cooler, and the Intel M.2 isn't nearly as good as the Samsung or Crucial, and you can drop down to a 650w power supply, and who is Palit?

Which z270 motherboard should I get if I don't want to pay too much and don't care about aesthetics?
Gigabyte GA-Z270-HD3?

Yes, why?

>who is Palit
Good company for Nvidia GPUs, isn't really popular in US but in EU it is. It's basically the other way round with PNY, which isn't know for their GPUs here in EU.

Anything really, they are almost the same.

What CPU Cooler should I use for this build? I'm not familiar with overclocking but would like a cooler that is under 35 dollars USD

Is a pentium processor good enough for a server? Looking at this CPU/mobo combo: supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/D/X10SDV-2C-7TP4F.cfm

pcpartpicker.com/list/jkDJRG

is this any good?

>boot up LTSB
>Nvidia doesn't support LTSB
Say it isn't so, Sup Forums I just want to be free

Depends on what you're serving, and to how many clients. For a home server doing basic services (files, httpd, email/calendar/contacts) to a couple of users, it should be more than good enough. Could even call it overpowered.

>LTSB

What if it's a raid-z3 setup with 11 8 TB HDDs?

pcpartpicker.com/list/XVDJRG
Made some improvements assuming a budget of $1000.

It's not fair frogposter-kun. They can't do this to us. We did nothing wrong

Are 21:9 monitors a meme?

>I just want to be free
Windows is never free.

Thats a lot. Doesn't the rule of thumb say 1GB of RAM for every TB of storage? Don't know about the cpu/soc.

What's the meme SSD to get? I've never installed one and it seems the most people just use them for the OS.

Nvidia drivers should work just fine on LTSB

I have to dual boot though.
Yes for vidya, but also all cad software that is also free is shit and not industry standard

Avenge me my brothers, avenge me

SATA: Samsung SSD 850 Pro
M.2: Samsung SSD 950 Pro

thanks for doing this, I can afford to spend an extra 2 cents for a caviar blue HDD though

>it's a gamer-pretends-to-be-a-mechanical-engineer-to-justify-his-Sup Forumsindows installation episode

Maybe I need to run updates. Lemme do that real quick.

Or am I just limited to a previous version of drivers?

Joke is on you, I'm still in university. I want to do GPU pass through but I need a second Nvidia card to run my setup because I feel for the AMD meme
