Whatever that works for you, autist.
I use SMPlayer with built in mpv backend.
It seems madshi fixed the shader leaks so freetards probably can't steal them anymore.

mpc-hc+madvr is superior. mvp is a command line software for elitist 'programmers' with a lack of self esteem
>not using iina
mpc on windows, mpv on linux.
If Windows' CLI wasn't garbage, it might be a different situation.
But we can't use advanced/custom shaders with madvr, only ones that madshi bundled! It's very sad for advanced people like Sup Forums.
>steal
>math
Yes!
>using meme renderers
>instead of getting proper quality releases
No you don't understand ...
What has been stolen?
mpv just works and have everything you need to watch a video in proper quality. Also, it's open-source.
why would you use madvr instead?
mpc-hc is pretty much dead at this point ;_;
madshi will have no choice but to port madvr to memepv for windows
why would someone want a port of madvr in mpv?
>port madvr to memepv for windows
that's easy
>port ngu
>done
wm4 | I started working on mpv2, but so far I only have a bunch of incomplete header definitions and not a single line of code
straight from the horse's mouth, w4m admits that mpv is shit
NGU or NNEDI3 lads?
mpv is shite used by linautists to watch their favourite moetrash that they ripped off of nyaa while jacking off at "muh minimalism"
>if it ain't broke, don't fix it
When will I be able to open youtube link directly with MPC-HC from my browser like with MPV + Open with Firefox extension + youtube-dl ?
I just use IINA which uses mpv as backend.
Cool, mpv from PR 4114 works even under wine, and with the same performance as native mpv.
You only checked out of curiosity right, there is no real use case for this?
yes
github.com
>Then the entire relicensing of mpv will fail. If there are only some cases, we'll probably try to remove the code of contributors who have not agreed (if possible). My plan B would be writing a new player from scratch.
Yeah some guy recently explicitly refused to relicense to LGPL because of ideological reasons, and his code is apparently widespread.
MPV works fine on windows
Can't believe the shills are still making mpv threads, a lot less than a few months ago so that's a plus at least.
Can't believe there are people who willingly use the buggy piece of shit that is madVR desu senpai
>port NGU
Did you ask igv?
No! Angle is still experimental and performance loss is real. Mpv with angle can't compete with madVR at all.
angle isn't the only backend on windows y'know
>performance loss is real
Angle is actually faster for most people than any other backend
>Mpv with angle can't compete with madVR at all.
Oh and also you are retarded, mpv with angle is much faster than madvr
Has madshi forgiven freetards for stealing his algorithms?
what algorithms? I don't know of any.
He's punishing them by attempting to remove nnedi3 from madVR in favor of NGU!
Freetards finished & bankrupt!
You mean making fun of his shitty coding?
>nnedi3
only retards use that
>what are jokes
...
help my mpv won't play videos from hitbox.tv. I get this error message:
[ffmpeg] rtmp: Server error: Playing denyed by notify event handler and callback return code
Failed to open rtmp://edge.live.hitbox.tv/live/burb.
>Angle is still experimental and performance loss is real
Not sure where you're getting this from. Both mpv devs and Google devs consider ANGLE to be stable, otherwise it wouldn't be the default in mpv. Even ANGLE's OpenGL ES 3.0 support is considered stable now (Google shipped WebGL 2, which is powered by ANGLE, in Chrome 56.)
Performance loss isn't real either unless proven otherwise. mpv has less GPU and CPU utilisation than madVR on my PC with comparable settings (ewa_lanczos and Jinc.) There is no evidence of non-neglible overhead with ANGLE at runtime, but there is a performance hit during shader compilation at startup.
Unlikely. Last I heard he added some rudimentary encryption and primitive anti-debugger techniques to the madVR binaries instead of just storing the shaders in plain text, but the shaders must be converted back to plain text before they are compiled, so you could probably still get them out by running MPC-HC and hooking the D3DCompile function.
>mpv
nope
SOUURCCCEEEE
>he is punishing his competitors by removing features from his own software
Am I interpreting this correctly, exclamation-mark-overuse-madVR-shill-guy?
Use vlc you retaerds
vlc and mpv are bad for anime
just use kiss anime

Never give up, man. I believe in you.
This issue from 2014 still isn't fixed. This is why you're a subhuman, wm4
Maybe he'll fix it after two more years of shitposting. See you in 2019, buddy.
I know it's you, subhuman. Last time you were lazy, after raising awareness of your shit player, you finally fixed the full-screen bug.
Sometime I got incredibly lag when playing *.TS video using Madvr+mpc-hc though my spec is incredible enough, someone know why?
>real use case for this?
Testing wine d3d11 support. With Direct3D 11 feature level 11_0 everything works so far - interpolation, shaders like nnedi3 (I assume it compiles to sm 5.0) with performance of more than 90% of native mpv, I'm surprised at the wine d3d11 support.
vlc cus it just works and also idgaf about a minor bit of choppyness when scrubbing a video. im not into tv and movies anymore like i used to
That's kind of neat. I wouldn't have expected it to actually work in Wine, yet alone get decent performance. Out of interest, did it work before PR 4114, or did that PR fix something? Also, are you using the bundled d3dcompiler_*.dll or Wine's version?
Before that PR was only audio and black screen.
I'm using mpv-static-angle.exe only, so bundled d3dcompiler_*.dll.
>bundled
Oops, I mean wine's.
MPV for me.
Oh weird. Maybe ANGLE tried to call some stubbed-out API or something.
If Wine's d3dcompiler_*.dll works, I might try using it on Windows, since Microsoft's HLSL compiler is ridiculously slow.
MPV has no GUI. Simply pausing a video requires typing in a command.
how much is wm4 paid by plex?
Microsoft's HLSL compiler isn't slow, it's ANGLE's shader parser is slow.
You can't use wine's built-in dlls on Windows.
VLC for life.
>retard that never even tried this player
It's literally in the picture, you moron.
mpv doesn't support xysubfilter
Actually, according to Mozilla, Google and Microsoft devs, the HLSL compile step is the slowest part of an ANGLE shader compilation by an order of magnitude: crbug.com
And it is possible to rip Wine DLLs out of the Wine project and run them standalone on Windows. See the wined3d project: github.com
What's the difference between mpv and mplayer2?
You seem out of date. XySubFilter died over a year ago. libass is faster now. In fact, people are now using libass with MPC-HC and madVR on Windows. You should check out AssFilterMod.
I'd like to be able to comment on mpv, unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to fucking install it.
mplayer2 died due to some kind of internal disagreement. mpv has the same developers except wm4 is leading the project instead of uau. Unlike MPlayer, which is ostensibly still alive, mplayer2 is super dead.
redpill me on uau, was she a SJW troublemaker or something?
Seems like performance is so good just because it doesn't do any glsl->hlsl->glsl translations.
I don't think that's his pronoun. I haven't interacted with him much, but he seems like the typical arrogant multimedia dev. Apparently he was more abrasive than most because he was the reason behind both the forks that led to mpv.
I assumed uau is Uoti Urpala mentioned in the article. Uoti is a female name
en.wikipedia.org
I don't use madvr, user. Not sure where from my post you got that idea.
mpv looks better out of the box than mpcshit.
mpv looks better configured than configured mpcshit.
Well MPlayer devs use "he" on the mailing list: lists.mplayerhq.hu
>the player won't open corrupted files properly!
I love mpc-hc and the only problem I have with it is that it shits itself when it plays .mkv or .avi
>corrupted files
not even him but you're a total fucking retard if you think that, I hope you don't think the vlc meme about the same thing was due to "corrupted files"
Maybe you shouldn't watch anime then, fucking baby.
if you don't watch anime you don't belong here
MPC-HC because it actually works.
The VLC meme was mainly about it not bothering to seek to the nearest keyframe and just starting playback whenever. This was fixed by VLC 2.0. mpv, VLC and MPC-HC/LAV all use the same codecs, so there should be little-to-no difference in how they decode video. The differences between these players are more subtle things like colour accuracy, scaling, frame timing and interpolation.
Also, the video from that issue report really was a broken file, and it only showed that corruption when it was decoded by VDA (hardware accelerated) on a Mac. Software decoders tend to have better error detection, which can hide errors in subtly broken files like that one.
>the video from that issue report really was a broken file
