literally Z book from HP
and I'm pretty sure other manufacturers make workstation laptops too
x1 carbon, mbpr 2014-2015
Because powerful = less battery life = defeats the pupose of a laptop
If you want power get a desktop
the real question is why the 15" version has the same hardware of the Nuovo Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming but at the double of the price
just get a mbp or that ugly ass thing in your picture and shut up, you can't get desktop power in a little gay ass laptop
Can someone give me their opinions on this?
amazon.com
I'd get a MBP but I need a Windows device for school.
There is a literal entire world of workstation laptops out there, user.
Plus, it's rare that someone actually needs to do single-pc, high-perf work on-the-go. And single-PC high-perf stuff is getting edged out, slowly, in the real world. Most businesses that do high-perf work (scientific modeling, visualizations, engineering, rendering, CAD, etc), have servers that do the heavy lifting, machines only need to be powerful enough to manage the software and create the content that the servers do the work of rendering and calculating.
The only people that "need" a machine for single-pc high-perf loads are enthusiasts/amateurs. And that market is tiny. Ergo, not many machines exist or it.
Gayman is the most common single-PC high-perf load, so as a result, it gets the most attention. People doing small 3D CAD work who don't wanna just drop some money into a renderfarm sort of get the shaft. And most amateur video editors doing big NLE projects without something to offload the work to, usually just set their previews low res, render overnight, come back to it later.
Most business laptops can be had in high-perf configurations. HP Elitebooks, Dell Precisions, Lenovo P-series, Panasonic Toughbook/Let's Note, etc.

I like the way you explain things.
Need a bf?
>Wangdos
gen4 and gen5 are good m8
The reviews of the XPS 15 Kaby Lake just came out. Holy fuck is it good, the GTX 1050M performs twice as fast as the Radeon 465 Poolaris on the MBP15 while consuming 30% less power. Why did Apple skip Pascal, I don't fucking know, it's an absolute no brainer for laptops this generation.
>I'd get a MBP but I need a Windows device for school.
dual boot windows, it's free
howtogeek.com
That won't work because you still have to install an earlier version of Windows to upgrade from and there are absolutely no drivers for Windows 7 on the tbMBP15.
>That won't work because you still have to install an earlier version of Windows to upgrade from and there are absolutely no drivers for Windows 7 on the tbMBP15.
it works, I have literally done it and run windows 10 this way
you can't change the background that's the only thing
>complains about gaymen shit
>picture included shows gaymen shit installed
>right click image file
>set as desktop background
Can do it from win8
>That won't work because you still have to install an earlier version of Windows to upgrade from and there are absolutely no drivers for Windows 7 on the tbMBP15.
do this
howtogeek.com
then use the assist tech thing as the key, it works
>>right click image file
>>set as desktop background
does not work on my particular computer
I honestly wonder why anyone needs a "powerful" laptop other than gaymen.
>I honestly wonder why anyone needs a "powerful" laptop other than gaymen.
video editing
That is only true for large businesses. Small businesses that still make a decent amount of money still do high performance work on single machines. Things such as construction, small electronic manufacturers, etc. No point for a small business to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a server setup when they can get by with single machines out in the field or office to do work.
Succeeds whilst using my device
Keep trying
They do.
Thinkpad W series.
Other mobile workstations

Everyone keeps saying this shit but the only people that do this on a laptop is people like youtube that are out at conventions and want to upload videos the quickest online. Most professionals do all this workload with servers and desktops. I find it hard to believe there is so many video editors out there just working on laptops(professionals).
I meant to say the average person, but that makes sense. Never did video editing myself so I don't know what you need for such a thing.
>at Best Buy
>couple behind me, maybe 50-60 years old
>"oh that ones a gaming laptop, you don't need these ones for work, honey"
>"Well now hold on..."
I have tried, I don't know why it does not work on mine
it's always trying to sell me office too
because they are trying to edit the videos in the field where they were shot
for instance i know a wedding videographer who is always going out of town to do weddings and needs to do some editing in the hotel room at night
You probably can get by pretty well with a mac in that case. Well you used to in the past before Apple decided to stop trying to create high end computers. One of my friends who is a professional photographer uses his home desktop to do all his work. Is your friend someone who is on a time limit of when they have to give their work to their client? Seems like a job like that they would give you an opportunity to have time to edit and prepare everything for the client.
>15W dual core ULV CPU
>good
"no"
That's actually pretty funny desu
>Just get a desktop
Fuck this stupid reasoning. You ever think people want laptops because they're more portable?
W T F???
Use a netbook and SSH into you're Home Machine?!?!?!
People do want laptops because they're more portable, so they buy portable laptops instead of throttling bricks.
If power is even remotely a concern for you the only solution is a desktop. Full stop. A "powerful" laptop will only achieve shit battery life and portability while still being quite weak. If you need power on the go is what you should be doing.
uhh the new XPS 15 has a 1050 4gb so I imagine that would handle almost anything you want to play on the go
this reasoning isn't exactly wrong especially for what these fags want to do
but there is a point to workstation laptops, whether you need to bring them on-site for whatever problem you're using them to solve or you travel/move a lot as part of your job
Maybe if people actually supported innovators. Sony built an ultra light and portable 13" notebook (2.6lbs) with a quad-core (VAIO Z), external graphics, RAID0 SSDs, with decent battery life in 2012. Shit didn't sell very well and it was around $1.6k. Now all we get with 13" ultrabooks are shitty dual-cores.
>the real question is why the 15" version has the same hardware of the Nuovo Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming but at the double of the price
Form factor, bettery trackpad, better display, much better battery.
Lenovo Thinkpad P-Series, Dell XPS/Precision and HP Zbook are good without being gaymen shit. Macbooks from 2014/15 are also good if you're into that sort of shit.
>x1 carbon
consumer shit
amazon.com
If you don't care about the slim aluminium XPS bullshit then get this. It's just as good for considerably less. I have it and it's amazing.
Music Production, Video Editing, Rendering, 3D modeling, Simulations, some programming, etc
Seriously, there is more you can do with computers than just "gayming"
>music
Does not need a "powerful" laptop. Cpu is all you need, and macbooks are basically built for this.
>rendering
>3d modeling
>simulations
>laptop
Why? Also, modeling itself is all cpu.
>shit battery life
Battery life is irrelevant
>and portability
Any laptop is going to be more portable than a desktop.
You have a very narrow idea that a "laptop's purpose" is something you carry around in your backpack all day.
>x1 carbon
How? It's a great business laptop
the fuck are you doing on an ultraportable that you need more gigahurts than a ulv can provide
apple cancer fucked over the market
they just want a laptop no matter what, maybe they think it's a more reasonable investment, like jewellery, or idk
>HP
They simply cannot figure out cooling, does not matter if it's 250 or 2500 machine.
Razer with dbrand skin
I can browse the Internet with all the vents covered, and run benchmark loops without ever seeing 80
I'm sure the extra low power focus of this generation CPU helps
Music production doesn't need a powerful laptop, all you need is a CPU that's not mobile grade and at least 8 GB of RAM, neither does video editing as long as you have a dedicated GPU.
>Hurrdurr HP is bad
Their consumer laptops are pretty crappy but then so are all other consumer laptops.
I want to be able to bring my laptop to the bathroom for reasons.
You fucking dumb EDM listener piece of nigger rap sampling music listener ghetto nigger overwatch player, get the fuck outta this board.
You need a fucking 8 core cpu at least for realistinc analog synth emulation + audio signal post processing you dumb fuck. Go back to your fucking royalty free pajeet programming music playlist and never come back here
I'm gonna assume you don't need a powerful laptop for such reasons
>what are barebones
Literally all Clevo shit have decent looks, is powerful and no gaymen shit.
Ehh, even Clevo is going the gayman route too now.
I do sometimes miss my old P150EM though, thing looked genuinely understated
coil whine is coming
