You can bring it to uni and do presentations or study, without fearing that files are incompatible. You can use Kali Linux in the middle of the city. You can use it on your bed and not have to resort to your slow phone. Obvios stuff. If you can afford it, it's good to have one around

You don't have to sit at your desk or dedicate a large portion of your room to it, unlike a desktop PC. This . It's just convenient.

If you wake up in the middle of the night and your house is on fire, you can grab your laptop and run. With your laptop and hopefully the useful data that's on it, you can rebuild your life by easily communicating with your bank, insurance company and so on.
You can't grab your fucking atx tower, 27" Gaymer cinema screen and 7.1 soundophiliac setup.

You can use it to shitpost on Sup Forums while in starbucks having some nice drinks

OP, i can do that with my phone though.
thought about cheaping out on a chinkpad. current machine i'm looking at has a 6200U intel i5 so that rules out all cheap pads.
if i woke up in a fire you bet your ass i'm gonna grab my pc and run with it, along with the pistol in my desk. the five seconds it takes to grab them will be worth it.

reasons: >easy to move around >easy to bring to library >easy to catch neighbour or nearby coffee wifi. >easy to put on low table (there is only low table in my room) >lightweight (~2.3kg)

those cost like 600-700 dollars.
not looking to spend much over 200 if i can help it.
i'm cheap and i think the 6200U can probably play ut99, ut2k4 and similar old games.
cheapest 950m laptops i see are like 600 bucks and i can't justify that.

I have been using a laptop only for the past 7 years. It's comfy.
1. You can bring your laptop to the washroom, put it on a chair, and then masturbate while you're on a bath tube.
2. You can bring your laptop to the library or coffee shop and oogle at hot grills.
3. You can be an elite hacker with your laptop, as you use wireshark to sniff wifi packages.
If you don't see any scenario in your daily life where you'd want to be using it for any extended period of time and be happy to carry it around for that purpose, you really shouldn't buy one.

Just have that shit in your phone and get out

I recently got an acer laptop after shopping around a bit for good cheap laptop for college. For $350 it was more then good enough for college and some light gaming. Screen is just a tier above mediocre and it's win10 but overall it gets the job done, has a handy backlit keyboard and you can easily upgrade the ram.
In all honesty if you want a powerful laptop with a good screen it's going to be at least $900+. You can scope out ebay for good deals but your mileage may very and returns can still cost you shipping if something is wrong with it.
