Tried ubuntu then debian then arch and reinstalled windows again in a span of 2 months when I was 14. 5 years later, its still comfy, why should I switch when I have all of the microsoft domains on my routers blacklist.

I wrote/edited programs in over 10 languages. C# just happens to be my favorite. Nemerle is better but it's abandoned.
I've never had a need to dump windows, usually dumping just the binary that crashed is enough to debug, I'm not writing drivers so window's memory space isn't really relevant to me.

I had been fucking around with GNU/Linux for a little while before this, but I stopped falling for the winmeme when I was 18, in my first year of university.

I ordered my first Ubuntu from Canonical at some point, but never did the switch completely, posting this from a Win7 machine and all. The oldest ubuntu live CD I found laying around here was 8.04 or something, and thats not the one I ordered first.
I remember running WOW:TBC through wine with better FPS that I would've gotten in Vista, thanks to the OS not being a total memory hog with my precious 1 gig RAM.
Windows 7 is my base OS on my desktop, do pretty much all programming on a Debian virtual machine, and have a laptop with Xubuntu.
Windows performs better than any unix distro, and that more reliably while lincucks don't even have basic features and their os regularly breaks.
For the most mundane tasks you need to google for hours and install countless packages and hacks only to find out that "thing" is not supported anymore and there are no alternatives. Plus the driver problems where hardware manufacturers don't give a shit about your freedom so you are fucked anyway.
I keep a separate HDD for windows just for gaming. I would completely "abandon" it but I couldn't get passthrough or vmware player to work on Manjaro.

I mean, isn't that the point of getting an OS generally, so you don't have to fiddle with it everyday to operate and run basic tasks? If I wanted to start my pc, and not have worry about any issues from using programs then why not use windows compared to linux for any reason other than privacy?

26 now, tried Linux when I was around 19, currently have 2 machines with Linux and one with Windows. Solus on my work laptop, Debian on my server and Windows 7 on my gaming machine.
Only OS I haven't really used is MacOS, don't have anything against it, just haven't had a reason to use it.

In the case of my Chinkpad, I know the x220 is good, x230 okay, x240 bad never buy this, x250 onwards okay. So I know in a couple of years when I upgrade to a 250 or 260 I'll be happy and have a solid future for now.

My first computer was an Asus EEE 701. I got it when I was in middle school and wanted to do whatever I could to get the most performance out of it since I couldn't afford a real computer, so I tried a bunch of Linux distributions. I haven't used Linux since then except for my android phone and Chromebook, but my main computer is Windows.
