How bad is your computer/internet addiction?

How bad is your computer/internet addiction?

I can stop whenever I want.

So that's where that pepe came from

Anyway could be worse but still pretty bad 75% PC 25% TV (mostly watching MSM shitlords shit themselves 24/7)

18/7.

"[...] inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response."

Neither of these "significant problems" apply to me, so I wouldn't call this habit an addiction, because it has no downside.

I consider my laptop a part of my body like my legs or arms.
The Internets is the only way I can have satisfying human interaction.
Without internet and computers I will rather die.

I am the Internet.

i can say i dont watch tv
But basically all time i dont study, watch anime or other things or masturbate its computer

>Without internet and computers I will rather die.
damn, user

It's bad.

Clinically bad

It's not really much of an addiction

it would be hard for me to go without, but it would also be hard for me to live without a car or a grocery store

also why would I want to go without those things

SAD

I have nothing better to do.

Just becuase you keep telling yourself that, it doesn't make it true.

I only leave my desk for 3 reasons.

>go to bed
>go to bathroom
>go to kitchen

for reference

I can stay off it but without a purpose or a reason to stay off it I'm just someone stretching the truth. Otherwise, it's either go online and discuss important things and possibly help someone or go back to living my life and be utterly and completely over-scoped by the kinds of people that raised you all.

It's only bad if you think being among people and drinking and stuff is better. If you think I'd prefer working with those people to being on here, you're wrong about that too. It's not like my computer addiction has to do with porn, erotica, gore or any of that disgusting stuff. It's that I know I'm going to find something new and I want to know what that is. Nothing else in the world can offer me that. Not even Chess.

As for a more formal approach, imma go down the list:
>Inability to consistently abstain
1/2
>impairment in behavioral control
never had that problem
>craving
1/7
>diminished recognition of significant problems with one's behaviors
I ruminate less thinking that it equates to talking to yourself and is thus crazy for a computer afficionado? Does this make me crazy?
>and relationships
Well, I got to see my own friends in that annoying fb myspace and ig light so I guess so. I lost a lot of respect for how much attention they seek for the thrill of having told someone, ANYONE, that they got it for no apparent reason other than they are who they are and that awesome person gave them attention.
>and a dysfunctional emotional response
If by that you mean want to talk about it clearly, concisely and even write it out, then yes.

I mean, these things come up, but not on the daily, not on the ready ( that's usually spectator people heckling or getting insecure ) and definitely not over my computer. These things happen because I live among addicts and they live among more addicts and among themselves they describe a reality, persona and idea for them all as one to carry together in fighting this horrible disease that they gather to propogate...

are you me

Depends. If you work from home on the computer doing back office work, earning a pretty penny with it too, then yes.

cuck

>I don't know what words mean

I remember that thread of the pic it was sad

It's bad. I am on it all day long. At this point its basically a choice between being an internet addict or being a data hoarder. I used to go to a bunch of different websites in the past but you couldn't tell me that today because it seems you could use the fingers of a single hand to count those websites now.

I could do without most of what the internet except for messaging, that is important to me more than the content it provides.

I don't think you're addicted user, it just sounds like you have nothing else better to do. Perhaps you should revisit old hobbies, photography is nice because it gets you out of the house if you live in a area where you can do that.

Frankly I think it is troublesome that we here on Sup Forums are aware of how much internet we use and how it is somewhat a problem but baby boomers I know think I am really addicted but they're the ones who won't put their smartphone down when we are at the dinner table or leave their phones alone when they ding or ring. And god forbid the phone actually rings, they CAN NOT let it ring they HAVE to answer it.

I think most of us are pretty healthy in our relationship to the internet, we just have nothing else better to do.

I have a device capable of internet connection by me 24/7
I literally sleep with my laptop on my bed.
If i go downstairs to cook I have my phone or laptop.
I cant concentrate on anything and i have the entirety of human knowledge and stupidity at my fingertips at all times and it's ruined me.

Yeah but when do you ever want to stop?

Only as bad as my porn addiction.

>calling a basic need an """addiction"""

REALLY makes you think huh

How is the internet a "basic need"?

How is getting the information you want not a basic need?

I spend all day on my computer. 10+ hours a day. I watch a bit of TV as well. I am NEET.

Very.

Internet is not a basic need.
Food, water, shelter, those are basic needs. information at your finger tips 24/7 isn't.

I can stop whenever I want, but I choose not to ;)

...for you

I need internet access every hour minimum. It's very apparent when I'm on a long distance flight. I'm perfectly fine otherwise but the lack of internet really leaves me in a mood. The only thing worse than that on an airline is a crying baby close by.

I'm on the internet all the time, why wouldn't I be? It's like a window to the entire world, which is really fucking crazy if you think about it.

No.

For a junkie heroin is a basic need for a smoker cigarettes are a basic need. For an internet addict having internet is a basic need.

Is electricity a basic need?

It is a basic need in the context of modern society, yes. If you're talking about primitive cavemen shit then no.

>tfw addicted to dihydrogen monoxide

It's starting to get old walking all the way uptrais to the kitchen in order to get my fix.

Pretty fucking bad honestly

My motherboard took a shit on me two weeks ago and im losing my fucking mind waiting for my tax return so i can hurry up and replace it and get a new cpu as well

That will/may depend on your lifestyle, I want to wean myself from electricity from the grid as much as possible but it is impossible at this stage for me.

For majority of people in the society we live in I would say yes, electricity is a basic need, and if you live in the US life is impossible without it since you use it to cook, heat and anything else.

Pretty bad, my life is shit outside of the internet. I live inna woods of a backwards fucking redneck state so online is the only place I get fulfilling interactions.

rather do heroin than that shit. baka tbqh famalam

Eating, sleeping, restroom, thirstiness, I remember putting those things off to stay on the internet.

Are you me? Appalachianfag here, I've had enough of this shit, I am moving in a few weeks.

about 16h/day on average. not too bad

I understand completely.

Rural Alaska.

holy shit user, you could always look into canada if you have no criminal record.

Adding to that, I hear seattle is the refugee center for Alaskans looking to escape.

Literally consumes all of my free time. At least I'm employed, for now.

I have an addiction of wasting my money online on bullshit.

I need help user.

compete with your friends on who is saving the most money. buy real estate.

>I have an addiction of wasting my money on bullshit.

ftfy

just bought a:
1. an $85 pair of converse boots
2. a $140 pair of adidas NMDs
3. a $450 55" sony 1080p HDTV

>friends

>has Internet access
>still hasn't figured out how to hunt for good prices
Tfw picked up a 60" 120hz Sony for $200+tax last week.

Learn2fatwallet/slickdeals

lol, but seriously dont give me that shit, you have friends. how long has it been since you graduated?
do you not have a car? could you like buy a car with the money you're "wasting" instead? or something that will hold its value more

I don't know if its adicction, but if I spent two or three days without my own computer I get too easly pissed off, specially at work
It's just that sitting down and shitposting and going on my things without a care in the world it's the most relaxing stuff in the world
I-i c-can quit anytime? r-right?

i recently purchased a 2003 subaru legacy l 5m for $6000. one owner, 71k original miles.

the navy recently threw money at me to move up to upstate NY so this is abnormal for me.

i do this too. i just bought a heat gun and I don't even know why.

>the navy
oh shit no wonder. the subaru sounds nice but $6000 sounds like a lot for what is in effect a 15 year old car even if it only has 71k miles.

Same except I have a desktop. I would've killed myself a long time ago.

what model?

hey man, new fluids, new tires, free upgraded stereo and speakers. i can live with it. its a subaru, so its not gonna break down that easily either.

Out of work for FMLA. Spend probably 4-8 hours on my computer every day that I'm home and not at the hospital. At the hospital I probably still spend an hour or two on my phone.

Will have FMLA for another two months though, so I'll probably at least start going back to the gym.

>hey man, new fluids, new tires, free upgraded stereo and speakers. i can live with it. its a subaru, so its not gonna break down that easily either.

yeah true, you're right. I am moving back to Europe and what you can get a lot less car back home for the same money as you do here in the US. a $3000 used car in the US will run you 7000 Euros back home. So i been looking at things like that, cars in the US are dirt cheap.

thats true. the other thing is that i was specifically looking for a subaru, and in south carolina, theres not many of them around, so when you do find one, it can get kinda expensive.

Had to go for a month without a computer and internet connection at home for a month. It was hell. The library has some crazy filters going on and it would block completely innocent pages at random, so using their computers was a hassle.

I think I could probably go without it for a prolonged period now though. Not to say I want to, but I could. My living conditions have improved greatly since when that happened 6 years ago.

At least your not addicted to 1,3,7 trimethylxanthine

Since when the only means of getting the information you want is the internet? And let's be honest for a moment here, you don't use the internet for anything useful, even for yourself. Pic related was never a popular place to go.

What about getting free movies, literature, and credible world news?

>How bad is your computer/internet addiction?
prevent me from doing any sports.
I must try to put some off-time and do some exercises.
Pretty much the only downside atm

>movies
entertainment
>literature
entertainment, but available in public libraries
>credible world news
come on now, news are only important if you are trading stocks

>it was so sad
Why user?

Which laptop? A thinkpad I hope.

I unironically believe every addict that says this.
They just don't want to stop. It's that simple

>6k for a base 03 leggy
you couldve easily gotten an 08 legacy gt that hasnt been riced to piss for 6k

But its current year!! You use your phone for internet!!!

You do have a phone don't you Sup Forums?

yeah i could have, and i was about to for 7600 if it didnt sell the day before i went to take a look at it. week and a half after i went in, 2 outback 2.5xt manual wagons showed up.

I tried and missed the immagration by a couple points. I am only high school ed. blue collar wagecuck.

Was born an raised in Puget Sound area. Used to be cool as fuck in the grunge era but now the northern most west coast (Seattle, Portland, Bay Area) are too full of overstylized, opinionated 20 somethings. I visit family from time to time and the change is shocking.

Anyways this isn't r9k. Have a moose, I'm gonna go discuss tech

So... how many lesbians hit on you or lust after your car?

Is that a fucking rabbit? What kind of acid were you on when you took this picture?

Rural Alaska seems comfy as hell, if I could get a fast internet connection out there it'd be heaven. Thought of moving to Yellowknife a few times for that reason

0, cause im indian.

its a nice car, albeit covered in snow and salt now that im in upstate NY rather than SC

>, cause im indian.
and yet you were hesitating moving to NY? dont ever fucking look back, flyover country is pure cancer

>Rural Alaska seems comfy as hell, if I could get a fast internet connection out there it'd be heaven. Thought of moving to Yellowknife a few times for that reason

post card scenaries means no fast speed internet, consider yourself lucky if you have cell phone signal. anytime someone says rural, dont expect such services.

not hesitating. was ordered due to navy.

looks to be an old Toshib, I cant remember the exact name for it right now.

This one gets me every time.

Yeah it's sad

>that cabinet

>first gen renault scenic

Fuck that pic is old, must be from the late 90s

naw its an adolescent cow moose. it has been around the cottage since it was a baby. just got ditched by mom last summer. only males have antlers.

we had no high speed until 2008 and 10/1 dsl is currently the fastest available (which I do have at least)

Cell reception is almost non existent, I am 23 miles from a town of 30k. I still use an Alaxander Graham Bell phone, but installed a cell repeater for my friend and family.
looks like Fairbanks, that's where I live, sorta
Environment is cool, on 7 acres with no neighbors. People are Right wing union, conspiracy nuts, drunks and shit kickers.

Here's my pet when she was a little. I named her Maggie

I don't even know if I'm addicted or not.

Were you ever asked "How bad is your telephone/tv/newspaper addiction?" during the 90s/00s? No?

Then fuck off.

10/1 is honestly fast enough for my purposes.

>he thinks the internet didn't exist in the 1990s
normie spotted

this guy knows. I have a wood stove I use in case the power is out in -40* the house doesn't freeze. A balmy -19f outside with a low of -36f forecast tomorrow.

my house is a toasty 74

Maximum comfy
