Does anybody know if there is any way to climb to the top without having friends or buying invites?
Landon Reed
define "the top" -- what trackers in particular?
it's more about routes to a few endgames now. i guess you could consider hdb the "top" since you can get virtually anywhere *from* hdb
Mason Miller
lmaooooooooooo
Ethan Ramirez
Does HDBits really do that? If you buy your invite, do they really let you keep it if you rat out your inviter? Surely the inviters know this too then?
Justin Ross
Reminder if you are not on Oppaitime, you're missing the best IRC.
Camden Thomas
HDbits
I'm currently scheduled to take the MAM interview. I hope to make HDbits around 1-2 years
Camden Flores
some places do that. i've only seen one very low level tracker actually have a "if you came here in a nefarious manner and tell us immediately, you're OK" policy. hdb seems like the kind of place that maybe wouldn't like that. maybe you never get invite privs or something.
either way, i wouldn't personally risk it. it'd be annoying to change seedboxes and proxies just because i got btfo there.
Luke Young
is it like a circlejerk 24/7
Chase Wood
MAD LAD OP
Aaron Edwards
Kind of, I never chat there. They call each other faggots all day, talk about sucking dick ironically, etc.
Jeremiah Hall
Yep. Usually an invite seller will sell multiple invites/accounts. If they catch him in time they can prevent that (as well as catch all the previous sold accounts)
The invites try to convince you not to do it. But honestly, I'd rather be on the tracker staff's side than the invite seller. Cause if I dont rat out, his next buyer might and my account will be on the line
Nathaniel Cox
this user is right, they usually remove your invite privileges. Its not like you'd use these on HDBits anyways
Lucas Nguyen
so you're about two months behind me, give or take a couple weeks
that's a realistic timeline. there are a couple shortcuts you should try to cultivate if you can get them. AB is huge, but recruitment is suspended. need an invite. it blows staying /pure/ but if you're careful it's not a big deal
tehc is a weak bridge now, which is why mam was recommended in the first place as a starter tracker. there's plenty of good invites on mam though, and it's retarded easy to maintain buffer/activity there. plus if you actually like audiobooks this place is heaven
i assume you want hdbits for movies. tehc is the stallwart but it's my personal opinion that they're slowing down. it's obvious by watching their announce, it's a trickle. past few weeks are 2-3 users spamming scene uploads of old movies. buffer can be tough
x264.me is a good site with quality internal encodes. much much easier to make than hdbits but obviously won't have the selection. it'll be a good place to be while you wait for hdbits access to open up somewhere
goodluck brother
Hunter Williams
yeah really sounds like a bitchin' irc that i'm missing
John Gray
yeah as long as i can still use invite forums on hdb that's fine, because i don't give out invites ever
Oliver Howard
Thanks user, I only want HDBits for the epeen since everyone here is spamming how great it is (and it'd likely to make a great backup since I doubt it will close down).
Thanks for that x264 tip, I might stick with that in the meanwhile
Gavin Miller
It's nice actually. I've seen people get invited to other trackers through the IRC.
Jaxon Bennett
yeah a year or so back a few people got invited to PTP from there.
Benjamin Fisher
PTP, BiB, PTP, BTN, and AHD are kind of impossible to get into right now unless you know someone. Not really something you can work towards at the moment.
Luke Richardson
Yeah, the other day someone gave another person a PTH invite, just because they wanted it. Good community.
Jordan Morris
yeah hdb is still a fine goal to maintain good first step doing mam interview have both those rules/faq files or whatever the fuck they are open during interview. don't copy/paste but just make sure you're giving the right answer
a drooling downs-ridden punjabi could pass it, so welcome. they just recently rotated the FL picks, so not an awesome time to score some buffer. you can only seed 20 torrents at a time as a newbie and you have to seed for at least 3 days, so make sure you have your 20 slots open the next time FL rotates
they'll tell you to say in the chat/shoutbox that you're new and excited to be here. do that and they'll ship you tons of bonus points. takes 5k bonus points to buy VIP, which is the invite forums. after a month (sorry, that part sucks) you can buy VIP.
get it
Leo Hall
How was your workout bruh?
Leo Peterson
HDB*
Leo Hill
Animebytes too I presume? I remember they had recruitment is that pulled from everywhere?
Wyatt Green
>the only trackers I want are impossible to get on I guess I'll stick to AB and IPT
Ryder Brown
you can get invited places from most irc be a part of the chat community, but keep your head down about politics/religion/ethics in general. don't want to earn the anger of staff that might share opposing views, and may not look on you favorably should something happen to your account etc.
i got into AB via a channel rizon irc. acted like a weeb and not an asshole long enough that someone tossed me an invitings
Oliver Ward
basically the only route if you're not already connected is unofficial invite threads, or knowing other high level users
i've heard AB legend has some sweet invites but that's a lot of uploading for little payoff if there's nothing there. plus they just BTFO a lot of the easy ways to get to 500 ups
Gabriel Torres
Kind of. AB recruits officially on OT, but that is the only place.
Adrian Powell
yeah, but thats for AB a low-tier tracker. I doubt you'd get a PTP/HDBits invite like that
Thomas Davis
so why do you fucking idiots download FLAC files when they sound literally the same as 320?
Julian Flores
correct, official AB recruitment is shut down. they closed ranks around the new year, shut down their email daemon around christmas to stop invites from going out period. tons of staff changeover, and the last week or so has a bunch of major rule changes designed to rip out shitty quality torrents
they're getting their shit together in the fallout of WCD. it'll only get harder to gain access to AB before it gets easier again
Camden Evans
So you can have your precious little 320 later when it goes down, and you don't need to worry your little head about it being a transcode.
Eli Moore
really? almost makes that 2d childpornfest worth it
Robert Ward
that sucks, guess I shouldve applied when I had the chance
William Bailey
>AB and IPT just add POO and you've completed the failforce
Cooper Anderson
no but you can parlay a good standing on AB into other sites, possibly even those directly if you get lucky. AB is a big head start these days with tehc being dead
Levi Morgan
Convert it to other formats, one for my phone and the other to save space on my PC.
I archive the flac.
Joseph Collins
10 uploads + some upload + some download isn't bad. Just take the interview on the IRC.
Jayden James
there's no good reason for me not to have lossless sources, and just transcode for whatever device if it can't handle FLACs
storage is cheap
Jackson Jones
>AB legend has some sweet invites where did you hear that, legend forum is dead as shit and the only active thread is "Legendary Kawaii Thread" where people post cute anime girls, among invites there is lliterally "AnimeBytes Invite Thread"
Dylan Lopez
you convenient clipped the "i've heard" off your greentext
Kevin Ortiz
...
Brody Moore
There seems to be a lot of misconceptions in the music community regarding the differences between 320kbps mp3 and FLAC format. It is true that 320kbps is technically as good as FLAC, but there are other reasons to get music in a lossless format.
Hearing the difference now isn’t the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is ‘lossy’. What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA – it’s about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don’t want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.
I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange…well don’t get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren’t stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you’ll be glad you did.
Oliver Watson
yeah, but I'll grow out of anime soon, so I'd rather put time and effort into a site that I have a future on.
Ian Anderson
the other thread was full of shitposters enough was enough
Jaxon Powell
Right now is truly a bad time to get into PTs. PTH makes it a little easier, but after What died the whole pyramid came crashing down on new users.
Gabriel Collins
i do love me some good copypasta. i forgot about that one until i got to "each year"
Adam Baker
nice blog! where is the subscribe button?
Evan Hernandez
that's probably why my question starts with "where did you hear that" you fucking sperglord
Jack Murphy
where's this from
Henry Scott
stop moving the goalposts you mong
Robert Miller
now, now boys, lets keep this thread civil. We have the
>highest possible standards of tracker service
to maintain
Luke Taylor
>was on whatcd for 3 years >never attempted to get a higher user class or to other trackers fuck me
1. Log rescoring will soon take place, and the resulting trump bonanza will have severe e-peen consequences for users who own no physical media (they will be demoted).
2. Having the right user class is extremely important to said users, and they will find other means of reclaiming their past status.
3. What sources of music are available to them? Purchase CDs? Too expensive. Purchase vinyl? Too expensive. Purchase WEB releases? Too expensive. Cross seed from other trackers? Could work for older WEB releases, cause everything new is instacrossed with scripts. Bandcamp? OW LAWD YES.
4. Bandcamp is already being mirrored on the tracker for 2017 releases, but after PTH narrowed the definition on what's regarded as a "perfect flac", the site will become a 1:1 perfect replica of anything released for free on Bandcamp... past, present and future.
5. Music egalitarians everywhere rejoice after realizing Bandcamp is saved through the HDDs and bandwidth of PTH users. Who needs VC backing when you've got illegal filesharers paying to do the job for free?
6. The question is, are you gonna race to upload the newest bandcamp releases, or are you gonna harvest the older archives and keep yourself alive 0 1 0 style?
Time will tell.
Zachary Mitchell
How do I get into GSC?
Nathan Powell
I kinda hope that PTH is forced to close down like, kinda like what happened to NoStream
Chase Cox
Why..
Elijah Brown
too elitist, without a reason for being elitist. And this is coming from a person with a PTH account
Jeremiah Phillips
Because I'm only on Apollo and it's shit. The only way it gets better is if PTH goes away.
Dominic Gomez
Yep, same here. I hope appollo doesnt close down
Juan Sullivan
I stopped reading when I got to 'soon take place' TL;DR?
Evan Flores
>What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps That's total nonsense. I suppose you'd be the kind of people who'd buy 1000$+ "audio quality" ethernet cables.
Tyler Diaz
yeah it's a bad time but there's no reason not to keep moving forward
if you wait for a path to open, it'll be closed by the time you get to it
William Bell
hi kyle gotta work on that English son, it's a dead giveaway
Gavin Ramirez
actually, the man knows what he's talking about, albeit, petty or nonsense to most people. when i've gone back to some really old mp3's from way back 'in-the-day' (90's, Napster, 56k modem) most of my mp3 library sounds like crap, mostly due to the technologies available at the time. i notice an unusually large amount of "pops" in a lot of songs and a 128k rip sounds more flat than a new 128k rip (both sound terrible regardless). anybody who knows how data is written to a disc would know that bits do get lost over time.
i'm an arrogant, elitist, analog snob with 2 vintage hifi systems (1 solid state/1 tube based) that can expose every imperfection in an mp3 file. it absolutely cracks me up when people think their crappy OEM soundcard, crappy best buy cables, and crappy desktop speakers are suitable benchmarks for judging sound quality. it's pathetic how nowadays people have allowed themselves to compromise quality over convenience and cost. i'm only 34 but just as bitter and scornful as someone twice my age. just wait until i get my FLAC vinyl rip blog up and running!
Jeremiah Anderson
apl staff have gone awol. currently, it's a couple of guys holding it all together. not even joking
Nolan Lee
you caght me, I should' really go to sleep
Kayden Smith
>it's pathetic how nowadays people have allowed themselves to compromise quality over convenience and cost. i'm only 34 but just as bitter and scornful as someone twice my age. just wait until i get my FLAC vinyl rip blog up and running! if you're truly bitter about this kys
Alexander Cooper
Stop selling your Ritalin for cash. Take it yourself, and enjoy your newfound concentration.
You might be able to read an entire paragraph.
Colton Cook
why did the other developer quit?
is apl about to be blown the FUCK out?
Ayden Carter
but when you say pth is 'too elitist', weren't you the one complaining that bib power users were getting into pth before ptp power users?
Ayden Wright
let's be very very clear here sysops have gone AWOL for RL. staff (as in anyone that isn't FLS) is aware that they're busy in real life the staff can't implement code level changes without the sysops (which is good) however the sysops have been AWOL for a little too long, and need to delegate apollo still has a lot of work to do in sorting out the garbage so the time pressure isn't insane
but it's starting to crack
Justin Rivera
no, I dont care for books. I am just on HDbits and PTH
"Private" trackers should ban all recruitment and invite offers on any tracker that ever has open signups, interviews, or any way of getting in from the outside.
The only way into your tracker should be through OFFICIAL recruitment from another secure, PRIVATE tracker.
Jaxson Bailey
The average consumer won't even care which file he listens to, what he wants is to listen to that lousy ****called rap they dare call music at minimal cost of expenses and size. Then there's my kind. I, like few that can be found today, am an audiophile as well as a musician with a perfect hearing. Thus, I require the highest quality. Coincidentally, I own a X5 media player (Cowon, IAudio -- 20GB bought it for 1800NIS, approx. 450$ at the time, 2 years ago -- dully note that its cost was approx. 200$ in the states at the time), and recently (4 months ago) bought Shure's E2C (For 550NIS, roughly 150$ dully note that this is more than twice its cost in the states.
I listen only to FLAC unless the music I want to listen to just so happens to be unavailable to me in such a lovely format, so am compelled to use MP3, and am saddened by this but can't complain. Unlike the average person I therefore notice those little details so many fail to. And the major difference is: I appreciate those little sounds. And for the past few months I've been dying to get A3! (Imagine a bazillion emphasis marks) I've considered taking drastic measures and becoming a menace to society just to get it. It's like, I can feel in my hands! I just don't have the money!) -- Same goes for the SE500. (I've actually been waiting for Shure's latest product for a long time now.) The A3 here costs 1900NIS (approx. 540$ -- costs 200-400$ in the states). The SE500 costs 2000NIS (approx. 570$ -- actual cost in the states is 500$ from the official website. I guess I can't complain about this.) Usually people upload Mp3s which sucks. I firstly look for FLAC, followed by APE, WMA (etc.), and when I lose all hope I turn to MP3. Luckily though, lately FLAC has been gaining incredible popularity.
Austin Kelly
what.cd had opensignups. It was the cornerstone for many /ptg/ members here
Adrian Morales
>tfw you realise that demonotaku is the CAPITAL LETTERS spammer
Nolan Ross
demontaku is dead to me
Samuel Campbell
what about user invites? I think interviews have a place
Thomas Gomez
yep app*lo has both of these
Adrian Cook
>what.cd had opensignups in 2007 and forever more regretted it because it took years to weed out the trash fast forward to 2016 and poo repeats the mistake NOT EVEN JOKING
Joseph Lopez
no, he's still alive unfortunately he'll off himself soon tho, so look on the brightside
Henry Watson
PTH seems to be missing a ton of WCD's stuff. I wonder if the rare releases that WCD had will ever be uploaded to PTH. I don't have APL but I assume it's the same deal?
>that feel when I only recently became a FLAC autist
Aiden Wilson
>tfw 82% alac
Brandon Watson
There aint a "best" invite forum. Its only a combination of trackers like ptp, btnbib etc.
+1. Everyone would benefit from these. Equal chances to access the top of the pyramide, reduced work load of staff to figure out "who invited who", only people eager to contribute with their little effort and time would join. Makes kinda sense
Asher Stewart
Whats the best irc guys to try my luck for invites to higher trackers, hdbits for example? As you specified here, AB and Oppaitime (irc or forum) may be a good place to start socializing?
James Perry
>could easily get elite on PTP, BTN and Bib if i bought a seedbox for a day >refuse to because i don't pay2pirate should i just find a zombie server
Evan Reyes
So am i right in saying that they gift us their language because learning it brings us together and allows us to see into the future. They save us because they need our help 3k years into the future?
Michael Watson
Just take out a Google Cloud trial you get $300 credit for 60 days
Isaac Garcia
complete noob here, wtf are you guys talking aboot?
I think the limit for the trial is 8 Cores 32GB RAM 1TB Storage 1Gbps with bursts upwards of 5Gbps
I used to it to bypass the Whatbox bandwith limit I pumped over 1TB of data per day
James Morales
>had an hour+ long talk about private tracker autism with an user on omegle >invite him here >he is probably going to be lurking tomorrow >he said he was going to study for the interview oh god what have I done
