My tertiary monitor is 900i
how does that make you feel

Yeah, instead we should call them shit like "WSXGA+".

Mine is QHD+

P = Pixels you dumbfuck

I N T E R L A C E D

how about that's what it's called idiot

learn progressive from interlaced Luddite then post here.

or stop posting and go breed normie

Exactly. Or at least 1680x1050. Vertical resolution isn't specific. 1440p? Do you mean 1920x1440, 2304x1440, 2560x1440, 1800x1440, etc.?

16x9 is assumed with p

p brain

Discriminate against interlaced displays are we, you progressive bigot!

I am
By 900 I really mean 900x1440
it was a shitty joke, it's not actually interlaced, just standard 10:16 monitor

You know what they say about assumptions.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolutions

read.

yeah, you're retarded when you doubt tech nomenclature and spec assumptions.

good saying if i do say so myself.

What's so difficult about being specific?
>I have an SXGA+ display
Is that really so difficult to do?

i have a U2412M

that's specifics

is that so difficult?

Retardedly too specific.

lol, i see you've played too much too little before.

i've met your sister as well

yes this has wildly outgrown the original use in the HDTV specification where 16:9 was implicit, but that's the effects of marketing for you.

This "p" is from pigzels.

what a shitty edgelord

ILNATCEERD

Isn't resolution p and i used when you're talking about televisions and video game consoles? That's like the only time I see those mentioned. I say my PC monitor is 1920x1080.

p is progressive scan and i is interlaced

Wew lad, you are stupid. Get off Sup Forums, you need to be above 60 IQ to be here

it is because it refers to the video format instead of the resolution of the screen.

And how autistic do you have to be to say the resolution of your computer out loud?

Knowing all these retarded abbreviations is actually less specific and useful than just writing out the resolution

was up

Writing out the resolution works too. As long as you're not going full retard and just specifying your monitor's vertical pixel count, I'm good.

Y'all niggas are doing it wrong

Why can't component cables support an output with progressive scan

But they can. Typical TV standards do define progressive scan for specific picture formats. More likely your device has no support for that.

If I use hdmi and set the output to 1080p the image is fine but when I use component cables at set it to 1080p there is ghosting and I have to change the output to 1080i to remove the annoying ghosting

So either the display is interpreting any component input as interlaced or the device outputs an interlaced picture. I think it's the former.

I just assume everything is in God's Golden Ratio of 16:10

1200p = 1920x1200
1080p = 1728x1080
720p = 1152x720

>1600x1200 was affordable and commonplace

No it fucking wasn't. Very few people had 21" or larger CRTs, and 1600x1200@60 on a 19" (17.5" viewable!) screen was eye rape.
Also, we still have a couple 21" Diamondtrons at work and 1600x1200 on those looks markedly worse than 1600x1200 on our main 2190UXPs.

>2048x1536 not unheard of

You could set this resolution on some setups, but I don't know of any consumer CRT capable of 2048x1536 at more than 60Hz, almost no video card DACs and analog cables could handle that without blur, and even the finest-pitch Diamontron couldn't physically resolve that much with its aperture grille, so it was essentially unusable.

But it's usually in Satan's Sinful Ratio, 16:9

>100+ hz in gaymes was the norm

Nobody fucking cared about Hz in games back then, you just had to have 85-100 Hz refresh rate or your eyes would soon look like you've just been maced.

>Using anything but 16:9
ur trash

>using 16:9 for anything but 16:9 movies and TV shows
You're a masochist.

Nineteen hundred and twenty pixels by one-thousand and eighty pixels

"And" is for referring to the decimal point.

And... Your point is?

1900.2x1000.8 is a pretty damned odd resolution

Why not just use megapixels? is way more informative to compare television screens, computer screens, tablets, phones, VR HMDs, and cameras.

eg: 4K=3.8 Mp, 1080p=2Mp, HTC vive=1.3Mp, etc.

aspect ratio and refresh rate are secondary measures.

Aspect ratio is the most important factor.

this, then comes ppi and actual screen size

4k 144hz displays with sub-5ms latency are finally starting to come out to maybe the dark times are over user

>even though lcds dont use scan lines
>line count is literally irrelevant

>What are pixels and resolution

If it is $600 I would buy it instantly.
Otherwise I'm just going to go with 2560x1440 at 144hz instead.
Fuck 165hz.

line count is not nearly as important as in analog video where 10x1440 and 10000x1440 are the exact same signal.

>16:10
not 8:5

fucking longcount fag

>even the finest-pitch Diamontron couldn't physically resolve that much with its aperture grille
that's why aperture grilles are shit.
