Recently brought a Samsung 960 Evo M.2, my gigabyte z170x-gaming 3 has trouble actually detecting the drive, it works 50% of the time, when it isn't detected I have to switch it to another slot until eventually it fails again. Any ideas?
Update your BIOS
Who is this guy? I've seen this picture of him on Sup Forums before.

Need help picking classes. I'm planning on going down the CS route and hoping for the best. I've already completed most of my prereq and all of my CS/Math intro classes. My choices are:
Most likely:
>Web programming (5)
>Physics II (5)
Considering:
>Foundations of computing (4)
>Matrix Algebra (3)
>Intro to differential equations (3)
>Chem I (5)

My GTX1070 arrives in the mail tomorrow, and I'm lost as to which monitor I should get.
At the moment I'm just at 1080p@60Hz.
I don't want to spend any more than $400 US on a monitor at this stage. Maybe later in the year I'll splurge and get a 1440p@144Hz, but at the moment I'm looking at 2 options.
1080p@144Hz+Gsync
or
1440p@60Hz+IPS
There's a place that has these two options around the same price.
I've been told to consider 1440p considering I don't play many online competitive games, but I would love to play games at a constant 100+ FPS.
I'm torn..
>100+ FPS.
Not on a 1070.60 sure
You dont need 144hz unless you're doing fast action gaming, such as fps'.
will using a usb to aux adapter make my sound better than just connecting to the back of the pc? too poor for actual usb headphones.
>Not on a 1070.60 sure
what
you will easily stay above 100+ fps on a 1070 @ 1080p
hello i need a laser pointer for my cat
anyone have suggestions? is there a difference between presentation pointer???
idk..
>but I would love to play games at a constant 100+ FPS.
If you tweak your games you can get that on 1440p with a 1070. I'd honestly go with the 1440p@60Hz with the IPS. It'll look great, and you can easily stay between 60-100 FPS in a lot of games. Just don't turn on stupid shit like MSAA like a lot of retards do.
>Click verify once there are none left.
How do i make this stop, fucking joogle has been busting my balls lately with this shit
inb4 buy pass
use captcha v2
Get that cat some cat nip and a kaleidoscope laser pointer. It'll be tripping balls, just don't blind it.
Why does Windows UAC get shit on at every turn but Unix systems asking for the root password everytime you want to do something outside of ~/ is okay?
Literally what is the security difference between the two?
UAC is 2 button presses, anyone can do it.
Sudo requires a pam password.
I forgot the root password for my server. Is it possible to change it if I have mysql root?
I also have physical access, so maybe I could change it through a liveCD?
>UAC is 2 button presses, anyone can do it.
Only because by default the first account made on a windows machine has admin rights. If you've ever used windows in a work environment, or set up secondary accounts on your PC, you'd be prompt for the password of an admin.
If you're logged in as an admin or root on linux it skips the password too

i'm probably gonna buy one of the cheaper AM4 Ryzen motherboards but I have a good deal on 2400MHz DDR4 RAM right now. Will 2400MHZ work for any motherboard or should i go 2133MHZ?
Awesome.
What windows user is going to setup a second account? :^)
How do i do this? ALso i noticed ever since the captcha got harder it also "freezes" out sometimes, that is to say the field just turns grey after you hit submit and then nothing happens
This didn't happen before so yeah joogle changed something it looks like
Use 4chanx and check it to use the old one with streetsigns instead of that bullshit store fronts
the benq
you said you were on a budget so I found this
Will a 25" monitor scrunch 1440p?
not him, but I have a 25" 1440P IPS monitor from AOC.
It's a huge difference between a 24" 1080P but I can easily read shit and my eyes does not get fucked at an arm's length away. (Altough it did take a day to get used to it)
Keep in mind that Windows applies scaling by default on these higher pixel density monitors, so you're gonna have to turn it off in the operating system.
When I look at my 1080P 24" IPS monitor, the pixels are so fucking big you can see them from 5 feet away easily. I think 1080P computer monitors should only be allowed on 20-22" monitors I think, not sure what the pixel density will be but 24" is way too big imo.
No
Everyone has different comfortability thresholds. Your best bet is to either look at the monitor in person, in a store.
Or either try to find a review of it from pcmonitors.info or .tftcentral.co.uk
...or a random guy from YouTube.
...........or buy from a store/webshop with good return policy that allows you to test the product and then return it if it doesn't work out :)
no
that monitor is great and is listen in reccomended monitors at pcmonitors.info
Can someone explain why would image related, a chatroom element in a website that has loaded normally for me for years suddenly stop working? I know it isn't the websites fault. I'm using Firefox and tried different browsers and I have the same issue. I have no clue why certain elements on this webpage are not loading randomly.
have you tried without addons? Sometimes these fucker websites are heavily JavaScripted and fucks everything up.
Or sometimes the web developer programmer fucked up in a recent design change or something
can you tell us what website it is (i understand if you don't want to (personally identifying etc))
>listen
listed even
honestly though paying $200 for 2 more inches is silly
Is cybersecurity fun?
Tried without addons, no avail. Thing is some elements of the webpage load and some don't. I've tried loading facebook public group pages just to see if I could load them and the page would be stuck loading on all browsers too. Streams on twitch also load strangely too, making me press the play button when they used to load automatically.
Could this be a DNS issue? I doubt it's something with javascript
Is there a way to make a macro to change the output for sound from speakers to headphones without going into the control panel every time i want to play CS:GO or something.
Stupid question: I have allot of sex, should I worry?
All but Chem. Consider dropping physics unless its for something specific.
Any windows user in a professional environment
Waking up and she is listening to CNN.
Or having to worry about puting a drunken penis where it belongs... hey but who am I to teach.

in c, how would i go about recursively calling a function that takes a generic function pointer as an argument? i'm trying to write a binary search tree inorder traversal algorithm that takes as arguments a pointer to a NodeList struct (only a pointer to the root node) and a generic function pointer. the function header looks like void inorderTraverse(NodeList* nodes, void (*visitFunc)(Item*)
obviously i want to recursively call this function to traverse through the tree and visit each node (each node holds a pointer to an Item), but i'm not sure how to write that recursive call. writing something like
inorderTraverse(current, (visitFunc)(current->root->item)); gives an "invalid use of void" error. is it possible to do what i'm trying to do?
probably a dumb question but couldn't really find an answer by googling and i'm tired as all hell, any help is greatly appreciated
explain to me the difference between a 2.5inch ssd and a m.2 ssd like im a retard
You're already passing current, so why do you need to pass the parameter if it can be derived from current? Couldn't you just call:
inorderTraverse( current, visitFunc);
Although if you need to pass the parameter along with the function that can't be calculated from the other parameter, you can just add it as another parameter (doing the recurring in a private sub-function if necessary).
Is there a cross platform way to style the window decorations (title bar etc)?
It seems like the popular thing thesedays to style the window decoration to match your gui.
I need alternative program to WPE PRO, dont tell me wireshark i am stupid enough to use that
where can i get a download link for calligra office?
installed only calligra gemini
Obviously that's going to depend on the platform you're using. For example if you're using Swing you'd mess with the Look and Feel. And I don't think JavaFX even has a way of using the default title bar style.
Is there anyway to profile memory and cpu usage of a already compiled program? Or do you always need the source code?
can somebody suggest me a device which would allow me to connect my ps4 to my pc? my monitor doesn't have hdmi unfortunately.
charles
charles is a http debugger faggot
Where do you guys get your books? I'm not just talking about programming books or technical ones.
Why not both?
Jam it in, benchmark it, sell it.

Wat?

You mean just using your monitor for video out, or do you want something else?
For just video, what inputs does your monitor have?
m.2 drives are smaller. Some m.2 connections can go much faster than a sata 3 cord, the SSDs that are ludicrously fast are built for m.2. Just because an SSD is made for m.2, doesn't mean it is faster than a regular sata SSD.
Should I care about M.2 SSD heat if it's mounted on the back of the motherboard against the motherboard tray? I don't think I'll be doing any huge writes or transfers.

Is there anyway I can control YouTube when playing games? I heard there was a Firefox add-on with media keys but I cannot find it
Current customer with Spectrum. How can I meme my way into promotional prices as a current customer? I'm aiming for 50/5 but at 59.99 a month thats a bit too much.
I want to make a short video from a TV show's episode. The video is about 10 seconds long, constructed from a few shorter clips from that episode. Not a stellar project.
I downloaded the episode at the highest quality I could find on TPB, which is a 1280x720 mkv file. When I began looking for a program to trim the video, I learned that mkv isn't widely supported, so I started looking for convertors. Unfortunately, I can't get a solid conversion of the video file.
My outputs are either proper quality files that are still not supported, or they're supported with no audio and relatively low quality.
Do you fellas have any solution to get things to work? I'm not fluent in video and audio formats.
Accessing files, backing up and repairing when your normal windows install isn't working. Pretty much the same shit you would use a linux live disk for
Is opendns still good? I don't need privacy i just wanna screw around with my own dns server.
have an old compaq pc that im trying to load either XP 32bit or elementary on, since itll be for younger sister to (send nudes or something) from, but the usb aint work, any ideas lads?
Crack it open and check if the USB-to-Motherboard connection is attached firmly. If not, attach firmly. If so, apply generous amounts of fire and then get a USB thingamabob for a 3.5" floppy drive bay.
Is there a VPN service that I can torrent with utilizing my full 500 Mbit/s connection?
I currently use PIA with OpenVPN and a 128-bit AES encryption.
When torrenting with this configuration I can only get ~10Mbit/s.
Torrenting without the VPN gives me full speed almost always.
How bad is it?
I used testdisk to recover the data for a friend, and now I'm wondering if I could use the HDD for non-essential backups.
Is pirating windows a good option? Are there any other cons than possible malware?
>Is pirating windows a good option? Are there any other cons than possible malware?
It's a good option, just download your activator or KMS from mydigitallife directly and not through the torrent trackers.
Alternatively you could install 7, activate it, then upgrade for free to 10 and then do a clean install with the generated key.
The downside is you'll have to use Windows 10 and the key is considered digital entitlement so it's not transferable to another computer.
That's how I'm using 10 on my laptop, as far as anyone is concerned it's 100% legit.
The encryption you choose wont matter much, and I doubt you'll get a much better VPN connection. But most seedboxes should saturate that, even the cheap ones.
There's barely any cons to using unactivated windows outright. If your PC doesn't belong to a business there would be zero consequences to not having a legit license itself
I have 30 mkv files I just ripped from a blu ray using MakeMKV. Do I use these 30 files to build the iso and then burn the blu ray or do I write the whole folder to the disc? (ImgBurn)
More importantly I'm using a BDP S300 to play them. Is there a format I should aim for. One that plays in all blu ray players for example? Is it mkv?
Yes.
No meanwhile you download the original activator from a reliable place(Mydigitallife forums).
Daz loader for 7.
MS Toolkit for 8.1-10.
I know how to use Full Width
I know how to use Frđť–†ktur
But what font or style is this letter A from?
And are there any other fonts like these that show up differently on the internet??
t. clueless about computer stuff
here's a pic since it doesn't seem to show on Sup Forums
Check the graphic design board.
I am very new to networking (only know basic concepts such as what are LANs, Routers, Switches, DHCP, very basic subnetting, etc).
I'm looking to replace my default shitty router. I believe it is the main culprit of the slow connection I am experiencing and might be bottlenecking hard. Also, it has no external antenna.
My house has 2 floors and a repeater on the second floor. The router is downstairs. Internet connection is weak, but enough (if functioning at full capacity), 20Mb/s
Can I get some basic pointers on what to look for on a new router? Antenna? Features? Brands to avoid?
Thanks
