How did a Patek only sell for $6,000?

So the other day my speedy stopped while I was wearing it.

And today it's still stopped even though it's been in the winder all day.

Is it broken?

Should I pull the trigger on
www.watchobsession.co.uk/collections/black-watch-straps/products/hirsch-louisianalook-alligator-embossed-leather-watch-strap-black?variant=320471167

On an snk789 pic related

Few questions:
Is it too small at either 36mm or 37mm (sites vary the size) for 6 inch wrists

Is it a good start as a first auto

A woman sold it.

Have you tried winding it?

I bought a winder so I wouldn't have to do that.

...

>$1,000,000
>Manual wind

The Alpinist is beautiful

Honestly I think the SARG is the most overlooked Seiko JDM. It looks like the best all-rounder imo.

Even if it needs to be wound every 2 weeks I bet that would get old and annoying fast since it's going to sit in a display case and never be worn.

And if you don't wind it every 2 weeks you'll need to reset all that crap on it.

A childless self-entitled old whore who probably wanted to buy shoes or magazine subscriptions

1) if you're going to leave it in the case then you can let it wind down
2) have your Butler/assistant wind it

Might want to check the specifications on that movement again

>Not adopting the MGTOW philosophy as a watch enthusiast.

Do automatics work in space?

As long as you would move your arm abruptly enough to overcome the friction that holds the rotor in place, yeah. You'll notice nicer watches tend to have a smoother operation.

>Mfw when my friend tells me about the gold sub his ex wife stole

What does /wt/ think of Tag Heuer?

I watched a how it's made on Tag Heuer and it was all fucking robots.

Not good

Am I the only one that thinks this watch looks wank?

Luxury watch collectors fawn over it and it just looks like a bulky piece of shit.

I really like the Royal Oak that isn't 2-tone.

Thoughts on Tissot?

I unironically find their 90s quartz shitters absolutely charming. I'd pick one up if the price was right.

None of their modern stuff is really appealing to me except maybe the Monaco and their BLNR GMT ripoff.

>good enough Patek made a knockoff

I agree that it's boring though. They really ran with it and made every AP a RO.

Just used my new manual chrono to time a boiled egg lads

>Is it too small
IMO yes
>Is it a good watch
Yes

>His watch cost less than $3,000

Nice shitter watch

>36mm too small for a 6 inch wrist

No, I also fail to see the appeal of the design.

>And today it's still stopped even though it's been in the winder all day.
>Is it broken?

no it's fine, it's supposed to that

dummy

It's just too small to be worn by a man tbqhwy.

I'd wear some vintage 36mm stuff, but I wouldn't buy a new watch in that size.

It's the size of a Rolex Datejust. It's a normal man's size watch, especially for someone with only a 6 inch wrist.

It's fucking tiny dude. If the datejust had been designed in the last 20 years it would have been bigger.

So is Archieluxery a used car salesman?

Should be fine. Big watches are a meme.
I sometimes comfortably use my 38mm Omega Geneve, and I have 19cm wrists.

Why do people do this?

Just got this for 125 ameriburgers, did I dun goofd?

Collecting is a hobby.

Yeah but those are like $80 each imagine the good watches he could have bought.

it's a good choice for a beater watch you can actually dive with. not bad.

Why do people like Glycin and not Invicta when they're the same company?

they're the same group but separate entities. invicta doesn't touch glycine according to one interview.

I still don't like it because glycine skyrocketed their prices for some reason

I was under the impression it's 37mm

Can Seagull-user please post an image of the caseback?

"good watch" is what, exactly?
It's completely subjective. Maybe that guy finds the beauty in the watches he has in the picture.

...

I genuinely thought arrow user scribbled on that image.

>Samsung Gear S3 allows people to make any watch face and any complication they want
>100,000 shitty tachymeters

>not measuring speeds on a daily basis

Different people have different tastes.
Those g-shocks are more durable than one of your "good watches" and probably keep just as good time if not better.

Yeah the Gshock is a good watch, but you don't need 50 of them

you don't need more than one watch.

This.
You can't rationalize your irrational hobby without rationalizing his irrational hobby.

Most smartwatch display design is atrocious. Either done by someone who has never worn a watch, or someone trying to mimic a watch they like, or making the dial/hands they /would/ use if they were making a traditional watch.

I mean seriously, "lume" on the hands even? How fucking dumb.

Thank you!
I'm very tempted right now.

Is this a good watch to wear to a job interview?

yes

If you're interviewing to become a pusher, then yes.

It's okay, I'd go with something a little bigger to show maximum dominance tho

who /hamilton/ here?

You, I bet.

i wish

Who fucking buys this shit?

common sense would say no

but nowadays dumb normies will probably take it as a sign you're a hustler or some shit.

Not really as if they are unobtainable.
They are quite cheap, no?

Melanin enriched peeps

When is obris memegan going renew their explorer ii?

The last one was 2 years ago. I should've bought one.

Also, anyone here has a watch by them? How is it holding up?

Anyone know of any good online courses for watch repair or even just better understanding the internals?

I currently have another year or school left in something unrelated but I'm on a work term right now so my evenings are all open as i don't have friends. I want pursue watch repair and such as a hobby and then feel around once i finish school if it's for me.

Good places online to learn?

#equality

>Also, anyone here has a watch by them? How is it holding up?
Doing just fine, but I haven't used it too much.
I bought last time it was possible.

I've never even opened a watch case but I love this guy's videos. Pretty good camerawork.

youtube.com/watch?v=nUZ3xB5fI-k

There's this English guy I'm subscribed to who uploads repair videos. They're very relaxing but highly informative. I think if you support him, he let's you watch his watch repair lessons before he uploads them. He takes a while to upload as well.

what?

pretty autistic but I hate that the numerals and hands are different shades

He's telling you that Hamiltons are pretty available and you don't need to keep wishing if you want to get one.

to keep the batteries charged with sunlight

$400-600 is a lot to some people.

There is basically no chance anyone without a significant interest in horlogerie is going to buy that specific watch, so I don't think they'd mind making sure it stayed wound at all times.

Absolutely shameless pleb-catchers. Their entire business model is based on suckering people into buying their shitters before they know enough about watches to know better.

Literally Tissot and even Christopher Ward owners will laugh at TAG owners.

other than the 1963, how are seagull's watches?

1) even if it is a lot, it's a pretty attainable goal. That's what he's telling you

2) you should be able to go pre-owned for less, especially if you go vintage. This I've is listed at 145 for example

forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-vintage-hamilton-thin-o-matic-automatic-sst-reduced-$145-4033018.html#/topics/4033018?page=1&_k=7ae6mc

Man, I pretty much can't stand that entire genre of watch, the AP version especially, and Audemars Piguet in general. If it was up to me I would kick them out of being considered peers to PP, VC, ALS and JLC.

>Being so much of a pleb you believe horological value is a simple function of price.

No. Even on my Fat Canadian 7.5" wrists 36mm looks fine.

Oh thats sexy.
Been looking at the jazzmaster, but thank you Nineball.

No one ever knows when they'll put more watches out, their communication is fucking abhorrent. There is what looks to be a new model previewed on their site and Instagram though.

2824 gains 8 seconds overnight

Has gained 0 seconds my wrist in 8 hours

What

I am going to buy you a shirt that is not plaid

That's beautiful what is that? Is that old?

>Paying close enough attention to notice his shirts
Sexual tension building ITT

It's always plaid

Always

I bought a Vostok Amphibia meme. It's running 15 seconds fast each day approx. Is this fine and is there an easy fix? I'm not bothered by the accuracy personally.

Firstly, on the wrist is mostly crown down so some of that may be positional variance. Secondly most mechanical movements will either gain or lose amplitude on the wrist compared to at rest and so will run faster or slower in wear than at rest.

That's pretty standard

NEVERMIND
From leddit "The movement is from -30 to +60sec/day"

My watch is performing well!
