Why are you using video-sync-max-video-change=5?
Did you ask on IRC about the default sigmoid options and ringing problems?
Why video looks so bad on the screenshot?
Is haasn going to fix the NGU scaler like he did with interpolation and the madshi's smoothmotion algorithm?
Normally I let interpolation off. No.
>2017
>still haven't fixed the fast-seek bug from 2014
So do you change your display framerate before watching a video?
It would be great to have an answer about the default sigmoid options from haasn or someone else.
How do i get OSD like in OP's pic instead of this default tiny brick OSD in MPV?
github.com
Post your problem here with your log file so it can get fixed.
Update your MPV to a newer version.
I have the new version.
Still has this brick form.
Don't take the bait nigga.
The proof jinc/ewa_* scalers are not enough, we are in a 4k world.
in your mpv/lua-settings/osc.conf file
layout=bottombar
Alternatively just delete it, as bottombar is now default.
Thanks.
>So do you change your display framerate before watching a video?
Automatically.
are you using ubuntu?
They only have the ancient version 0.14 (2015) of mpv.
Windows 7. Turns out the Windows MPV builds don't have the lua-settings folder.
Had to create one myself and create the osc.conf file and fill it.
wtf are you watching anyway?
bubble bubble bubble
mpv doesn't detect cuda anymore on my system, which is strange because cuda is working fine in other applications.
I'm running arch and using the latest mpv from git.
A random webm i had.
how can i change my player bar like that?
Autospeedwin?
see . Also refer to the manual.
>layout=bottombar
dank you!
>Alternatively just delete it, as bottombar is now default.
Shinchiro patches old style to defaults
I just put this in the mpv.cfg?
How do I start mpv at a specific time in video file?
Say: $mpv
Reminder that mpv video quality is INFERIOR to MPC-HC with madVR.
Yes.
shut the fuck up mpc shill
i bet you're just too dumb to use superior mpv
I literally compared screenshots from each of them. Uncompressed, same frame screenshots, after proper configuration of both of them.
madVR's video quality was simply superior.
Is mpv good enough to use on Android yet?
Nobody cares about phonefags so no.
where can i get MPV windows builds latest?
also, im on MPC-HC with Mad-VR what benefit does this provide over it?
Could you post your comparisons?
MPV is a CLI orientated program if you prefer something minimalist.
Anyone know of a way to reduce ringing with 2pass adaptive sharpen?
>inb4 dont use adaptive sharpen
what's the current way to watch stuff at 60FPS?
is it still with vapoursynth?
Redpill me on why I should use mpv over vlc
Use mpc-hc
If I use the arrow key to seek forward (tapping once), it occasionally gets stuck seeking in that direction. How do I stop this.
but vlc works fine
You'll love it trust me
DELETE THIS. JINC IS EVERYTHING WE WILL EVER NEED!
Does MPV have DLNA support at all?

hi /mpv/
pic related, mpv 0.24 on my 4k LG montor (10 bit @ full PC levels output):
Does Pixel Format: p010 mean that it outputs at 10 bit?
Why are the Levels: limited ? In AMD settings, it clearly shows PC levels (0-255). Is this an incorrect stat or is something wrong?
why is it so blurry?
>Why are the Levels: limited ?
Videos always encoded in limited range
> In AMD settings, it clearly shows PC levels
It will be expanded to full range then, otherwise displayed in limited range.
MPV creates a more blurry image on my end compare to madVR

Maybe it's the downscaler? any of you know how to make it the same as madvr?
Anyone got a battery-optimized config for laptop w/ intel graphics? I want to squeeze more life out of this.
I currently use:
scale=bilinear
cscale=bilinear
dscale=bilinear
scale-antiring=0.0
cscale-antiring=0.0
dither-depth=no
correct-downscaling=no
sigmoid-upscaling=no
tscale=catmull_rom
opengl-early-flush=no
opengl-pbo=yes
vo=opengl:deband=no:icc-=-profile-auto:scaler-resizes-only
What are your settings for each? dscale=catmull_rom is supposed to be good for downscaling and sharper than Mitchell.
I even tried lanczoss_sharp, but it didn't work.
Let me try catmull_rom
Just use mpc/mvr for actual movbies and stuff like that, mpv is literally just for upscaling 480p animeme videos.
i.imgur.com
Still not as sharp when you compare it to this i.imgur.com
Aside from scalers, you can add correct-downscaling=yes and linear-scaling=yes
IINA is p good
Madshi felt for the sharp image meme.

Plex media player is better and
literally retarded
mpv looks better here
and cross-platform.
>mpv looks better here
Are you blind?
>mpv looks better here
According to me, it looks worst look at his eyes and his forehead for example.
The only reason to use mpv is youtube-dl thingy. For serious anime/movie watching mpc-hc+madVR is superior.
Yeah nothing seems to be the same, weird because fullscreening the movie seems to be the same.
Has more noise however i.imgur.com
i.imgur.com
wasn't the same keyframe sorry, updated.
(You)
also the beard
you must be retarded
the only downside of mpv is that no one created super resolution shader yet, because no one cares enough about that shit except few retards.
>Has more noise however

Sorry the difference is not there after updating the screenshots with the right key-frame.
i.imgur.com
i.imgur.com
However like I said before the downscaling still seems to be a bit to blurry on mpv.
The size for the video is half the size of it's original size.
>OSD/GUI overlays the video and auto-hides itself
sucks being that autistic when you can't even watch youtube
literally jinc with some sharpening, it doesn't have any extra details
it's easy to see for you and me that the ngu image is simply sharper than the jinc image with no dramatic added detail (and with no added artifacts, either, which is quite important). however, why don't you try to take the jinc upscaled image and post-sharpen it to get the same result as the ngu image? for your reference, here are the original images:
screenshotcomparison.com
screenshotcomparison.com
i've tried to sharpen the jinc image, but i can't get anything even remotely near to the ngu image, when comparing overall quality. i dare you to give it a try yourself! if you manage to get near to the ngu image by sharpen the jinc image, please let me know which sharpening algorithms and which settings you were using.
>i dare you to give it a try yourself!
already did, with adaptive-sharpen.
the only difference is that ngu doesn't bloat edges
where the fuck have you been?
thats been shitposted on every /mpv/ thread.
i had tried with AdaptiveSharpen myself, but to me the result looked quite far away from ngu, overall. not sure why.
ngu also removes ringing from the source and has lower aliasing than jinc. maybe that's the reason? both of these are properties that sharpening can't reproduce.
>lower aliasing
I think it shouldn't be a problem if your source is at least 480p
How could we debug with no mpv settings?
Is there anything to debug?

I used lanczos_sharp to try it, but didn't work an so did the others..
I haven't found anything regarding it but perhaps someone here knows.
Is it possible to use mpv as a network stream player just like VLC? I have a Raspberry Pi 3 as a torrenting box with my external HDDs plugged into it and I'm watching my videos by transferring them via scp first to my desktop. If I could stream it via network, that'd be great.
You can use SFTP:
mpv sftp://user@server/home/user/file.mkv
>NGU :)
>Means you have to install windows :(
But it already exists:
gist.github.com
That's great. Then I'll just have to install sftp on both machines and I'd be good to go.
Thanks!
mpv needs ffmpeg compiled with libssh for that to work. I don't think lachs0r's builds have that if you're on Windows. Your torrenting box probably doesn't need any setup.
You just need an ssh server on the one you're pulling from and an ssh client on the one doing the actual pulling
sftp isn't really a thing
you'll need to install openssh (server) on the rpi sftp is an ssh feature
you'll probably also want to generate a key pair so you can log in without a password
He's already been using scp so I'm pretty sure he has an ssh server. Good point about the pubkey auth though, it really makes things easier

Newbie to mpv here with a question. Suppose I have set up two profiles in my mpv.conf like this:
## Video Settings
[interpolation]
interpolation=yes
video-sync=display-resample
[default]
profile=opengl-hq
hwdec=auto
According to the manual, I can use the option "apply-profile" to assign my profiles to different keybinds. So, if I add the following to my input.conf:
CTRL+d apply-profile "default"
CTRL+i apply-profile "interpolation"
when I press the corresponding keybind during playback, it should switch profiles right?
educate yourself first
>madvr gets frame drops in full screen
Just use less demanding settings?
