Yeah i was looking at that one too. Need some review because i dont know shit about mobos except cheap ones
i got the aorus gaming 5 because it supports the ram speed I want
not going to get any decent reviews till mid-end of march probably
seems like a solid mid-range motherboard though, with M.2 slot and ASUS
Idk someone will cover the mobo. There are only a couple out and people were giving different mobos to bench the cpu with i imagine
we might get some of the Aorus board, since they're sending those out in some press kits for ryzen.
youtube.com
no idea what the guy is saying but he unboxed the whole thing
>8 SATA ports
>M.2
>Intel LAN
Fuck that's a good board
yep I like the intel LANs, they never have failed me.
I'm going to be waiting till Ryzen mobo's with at least 10 sata ports pop up, Asrock should have some extreme editions in the works, they always tend to get the 3x m.2 and/or 10x sata slots mobos going
aaand...I have found it already
newegg.com
noice
jesus going to be doing some raids there?
i identify as a girl thank you very much
Probably a data hoarder. Plus it's nice to have the extra SATA ports if you want to get more drives
all independent drives, backup my main on an external though bi-weekly
good guess, and the right guess too,
datahoarder gotta datahoard somehow after all
interesting to note for the m.2 drive
>* If M2_2 is occupied, PCIE5 slot will be disabled
so maybe 11 drives including m2_2?
Are there any m-itx boards being released at launch? I can't find any & it is making me want to cancel my 1700 preorder
you can always get a pcie with like 10 sata slots
i'll consider upgrading my 2690v3 only if they make a high end matx motherboard. Asrock 970m was a fucking joke.
doesn't look like it.. I only see 1 micro ATX even, so probably no itx at all
whats the diff between the 5 and the k5 and the 7? the 7 doesnt even get mentioned anywhere except gigabytes site, which doesnt have the k5... also, on gigabytes site, the 7 and the 5 are identical
I bet they're going to reveal more chipsets in the future, then the ITX boards will come
true, will research - don't need the wifi that board has or the bluetooth, might get a cheaper one and just get a pci card if it costs less
Incidentally that also seems to be the board with the most chokes around the socket. Looking forward to a review that mentions the power infrastructure on thar board. Ugly though
If you had to guess m-itx release date, what would you say?
I think I remember as-rock announcing an itx board, but I can't find any days.
chokes are what "filters" the voltage before it enters the CPU, yea?
before march ends I'd assume.. stuff comes out pretty quickly.
Itx will come later and only Biostar said they were going to release one. AsRock and the rest are waiting to see if Ryzen is a hit.
>normal looking high end motherboards don't exist anymore
Yeah they keep the power behaving nicely. The more you have the more power you can send into the chip in an orderly fashion.
Assuming they're not cheapo parts
Whatever Ryzen boards have Intel ethernet controllers are the ones I'm eyeing up.
I know. I dream myself away to that Gigabyte P67/Z68 with the gold heatsinks.
What's so gud about intel lan?
the NSA backdoors
I'm thinking that one of the high end boards is the best bet. AM4 is likely going to be around for a long time. Buying a quality motherboard now means you have a long-term platform to drop in whatever comes after Ryzen.
>his motherboard isn't military-grade
I have pre ordered
>R7 1700x
>Asus prime b350-plus
>16gb Corsair ddr4 @3000MHz
Yes I know my mother board only supports 2666.
Also with AMD if your motherboard breaks after 3 years you're not forced to buy priced gouged shit from ebay
Wait... so there is no mobo with 8 memory slots for Ryzen build?? wtf
I need 64gb ram
not bad for a start, you can always upgrade your motherboard later so you can make use of the "x" in t he 1700x, not sure if the B350 boards support xfr though
All boards past the a320 support it.
Are you retarded, user? Gaymur-grade DDR4 is available in 16GB sticks and lower clocked stuff in 32GB sticks. I had 64GB 3333MHz (4x16GB) in my Skylake build for a while.
So get 4x16 GiB you moron.
For some reason I thought they are a lot more expensive. Seems like they are almost the same price. Ok then.
MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON AM4 AMD X370
looks nice, $179.99
are those metal ram slots?
Yes. If you're ever using your computer in a fighter jet one day, it should really help with the stress on the slots.
newegg.com
Yep and LED lighting which im not a big fan of
Are more phases better? ASRock has the most phases but I can't buy any of their boards today.
>He doesn't use his computer in a fighter jet.
You overclocking?
>Are more phases better?
Not inherently. The quality of the phases matters more, but assuming component quality is equal, more is better.
I plan to, but I've never done it before. My liquid cooler arrived in the mail today.
>AIO
Why. WHY. Just buy fucking DH-15.
>120db SNR DAC
>10 phase VRM
>150 dollars
Fucking based Asus. Quality shit if I do say so myself.
>huge block of metal
no
Closed loop cooler
More phases means better overclocking
It werks and it's actually quiet.
Type-C connectors!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is a 6 phase enough for a 1700x. Im sweating guys.
You realise that the radiator of a CLC is an ever huger block of metal, yes? Not to mention their high failure rate and pump noise. CLCs are a dumb meme to fleece clueless gaymers who heard water cooling is the bestest and now think that they have it by buying a CLC.
Is it possible to charge a MacBook on one of those?
Charging your laptop from your desktop. That would be meme-tier.
Not certainn the mobo oumps out enough juice.
If you had one straight from the PSU
Man, just about all the boards look like ass to me, except the ASUS ones and that one black MSI one (GAMING PRO on that I/O shroud is just tacky). the X370 Pro seems to be the board I'm going to be going with too (wish it had that I/O shroud, I actually do like those), but I really with the Crosshair one was cheaper. What the fuck were they thinking with a pricepoint of 250 shekels? The gaymer shit and RGB really needs a reasonable alternative in the market.
Asus stuff is always overpriced because idiots will buy it just for their name. Although in fairness, their UEFI is the best around. Not worth paying an extra $70 for though, especially when the Crosshair only has one M.2 slot. They'll no doubt release a Formula in six months that's higher-specced anyway.
>boards have displayport
RavenRidge compatibility confirmed??! ?
>CLC is an ever huger block of metal
wrong
Well hello there, it was confirmed ages ago.
(OP)
I was hoping to find one with ECC DDR4
How has their quality in boards fluctuated over the years? I bought a 990FX Sabertooth like 3 or 4 years ago, and the quality all around was great (still no problems till this day) but some of ASUS' other products seem to have gone down in quality from what I've seen. I put value in ASUS' name because I've had good experience over the years, but their gaymer shit and ever expanding price tag is starting to turn me off. Plus their customer service is ass if god forbid you have to use them.
Their X99 series of motherboards look amazing with no gaymer shit and have good specs to match. I wished for the same with X370, but looks like X370 Pro is as close as I will get.
Sup guys,
I'm also looking at a ryzer build.
I'm looking at virtualization.
So anything with AMD-v (i think it's call'd) will do.
Does amd jews you out like Intel and only some boards/CPU will have virtualization ?
Any general advise about virtualization with amd(and ryzen in specific) ?
Thanks in advance.
No, everything comes with AMD-V.
X370 supports SLI/Crossfire, the B350 doesn't. Both support XFR.
What does that big "GAMING PRO" block on the left do besides block CPU exhaust?
It looks cool.
Fuck off, retard.
Their motherboards are still arguably the best around. Everything else they produce is overpriced garbage.
Well the retard is right that a radiator mounts to the case and a giant heatsink mounts to the motherboard
What the fuck does that have to do with anything, you dumb cocksucker? It's still a massive slab of metal. Where it's located in the case is irrelevant.
Cool, thanks user.
AESTHETICS
I hope so. I don't want to have to go to their customer support ever again.
Shields the IO ports
How much AMD do you need to put into a single system before Amada's kokoro goes doki-doki?
The reason why people don't like air coolers has partly to do with where the "giant slab of metal" is mounted.
...
That's the board I've ordered, fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Probably won't be using the m.2 shield though unless they've sorted the overheating issue
What's up Mario
lel
>newegg.com
That one looks bretty gud, though im waiting for the 4/6c to replace my 8320e I am excite
how will the case stickers look like, thats my main question, my FX-6350 didn't come with a sticker and that offended me very much.
>tfw I built my brother a computer last year and the only component that came with a sticker was the Intel CPU
the good thing about intel lan is that it isn't realtek or atheros.
>how does math work
looks better than OP asthetics wise
but less usb ports
SECOND LAN CHIPSET INTEL
what about the first?
I'm not building yet bc I want a gaymin machine and an r5 seems like a better deal for that.
I still have no clue if I should go for a 1400X or 1500 though.
I'M GOING TO BUY SOME ARRRRGEEEEEBEEEES RAM FOR MY BUILD AND YOU GUYS CANNOT STOP ME
putting the rgb meme aside they do look pretty good
The MSI and Gigabyte boards power phases werent digital based for alot of Z170 boards except in their more expensive offerings. Not sure if thats changed since then. Asus one use all digital just with MOAR PHASES the higher up you go.
Thinking Ill just get the Prime x370 Pro for $220 maplebucks.
I'm getting the black Gigabyte Aorus one.
It looks like the big bit over the rear IO stuff that says AORUS on it is made of plastic, which I assume means "you can remove this relatively easily" so I plan on removing that part, I don't think it's part of the heatsink it's sort of covering.
As for the big heatsink lower on the board with the eagle design on it, I'm hoping that's also a plastic detail that I can just pop off and either just leave open, or if the holes are unsightly then pop in my own logo, or I'll find another heatsink or something. Either way my GPU should be covering that for the most part.
The big thing is there's not a bunch of crazy designs on the board like the AsRock Taichi so I won't have to paint the board (which is where I think you have more propensity to fuck shit up...and they don't appear to be embedded with the RGB elements so they may be easily removable. That's what I'm hoping for anyhow, thinking if I can make a few personal mods it'll look pretty damn nice. That's the hope anyhow.
As far as my opinion on RGB in general, as long as it's not something I'm paying that much for I don't mind. I have some lights in my case and I don't mind it being there, as long as I can always turn it off.
The AsRock one looks really nice and I'd actually buy that one but I'm not a fan of the white accents and the designs on the board, plus I have some brand loyalty to Gigabyte as I've had them since my old Phenom II board and I've never had but one problem which was that old one having a corrupt bios one day (back when dual BIOS was still not common) and it just restored itself and kept chugging on like nothing ever happened...Great boards.
>some dickhead somewhere on this planet actually typed up all this shit
>it's cool to not have and share opinions of things on a board built to share opinions of things
Aside from the 5ghz LN OC has there been anything on OCing on air?
How does this compare to the asus board on amazon? Just on speculatio. Of coursr
