Let's drift off to La la land and talk about the perfect smartphone (in your eyes). This topic will be based more on the design rather than the internals of the device because every smartphone manufacturer puts almost the same components.
My perfect smartphone >I really like the simple slab design of the Xperia phones. Although they have a big chin and forhead so I'd like the phone to be a bit shorter and have more screen to body ratio. >5' 1080p is enough for me but I'd like an oled display (it would drain less battery) >Stock Android with an open bootloader >Dual sim and a dedicated SD card slot >Sony makes decent cameras but they still need to polish them a little bit. 20 megapixel back 16 front (have something similar in my current smartphone. It's amazing) also the dedicated shutter button is convenient >No fingerprint scanners (fuck those)
I forgot to add >And a 3000mAh battery I'm not thinking about the movie. Rather the concept of a utopia/perfect place
Juan Reed
>Nokia Lumia Desing or P8 Lite desing >4.7' 720p superamoled GorillaGlass 3 >Stock Android 7.0 & open bootloader >Dual sim and a dedicated SD card slot >13 megapixel back 5 front >fingerprint scanner >3100mAh battery > 3.5 mm jack >Stereo
Josiah Jackson
>removable battery >swappable camera >integrated flip cover (with options for one with a built in keyboard, wallet, notepad, etc.) >IP68 or higher >glass back so its not as slippery as metal >samsung-like brand recognition >expandable storage or at least a partition used as a flash drive >no overheating or throttling

right, here we go. >Size is 5"5 since smaller phones dont go well with my sausage fingers >resolution is 1080 since anything more is memetics and anything lower seems lacking >same as op on software side, stock and unlocked boot >IP68 resistance >easily repaired >don't care much about removable battery but it should have a chunk 3600ish battery >steal samsung's camera >apply all memes such as dual cameras and iris scanners I just want a goddamn note 7.
Logan Carter
>6" 4K screen >no hardware buttons >minimal but present top and bottom bezels >virtually non-existent side bezels >USB - C >headphone jack >external SD card slot >external SD card slot is one of those paper clip open tray things >also openable through software >removable back w/ removable battery >dual SIM AND dual SD card slots in battery bay >huge battery (main reason for a 6" screen) >NFC >unlocked bootloader >octa-core, 32 GB RAM >128 GB internal storage >user fixable
Adrian Richardson
Iphone 7 with a headphone jack. And slightly thicker, so no camera bump and better battery
Michael Anderson
>libre hardware >lower end cpu to cut down cost of unecessary gayman performance >lockable usb port >reasonably priced
Andrew Cooper
Just something like a Samshit Galaxy but with no shitty curved screen, dual sim, 2-3 MicroSD card slots, and perfectly working Replicant with all open firmware and no spying
Sebastian Rogers
Galaxy S7 regular, no camera bump

Carson Butler
I don't really care what it looks like. I want it to fit my hand, not be slippery, have decent durability.
Has to have removable battery and storage.
On battery. 10 amp hours or better, no thinfag shit.
I prefer a soft button bar with side hard buttons for volume and power like the gnex.
A good camera is a must. it's 2017, I should not need to also have a separate digital camera when I'm not even into photography.
Here's where we get into la-la-land:
Completely open, audited hardware

Honestly I liked pretty much everything my V10 offered except >volume bug >bootlooped and LG being a bitch and not fixing their shit for free
Gavin Green
>5 to 5.2" perfect for use with 1 or 2 hands >1080p screen, who needs more, especially when it drains more battery >physical buttons, that can be reprogrammed >SD slot >decent CPU and RAM, not necessarly the latest qualcomm with 8 Gigs, but a good balance >big ass battery >simple design, no "look the premium feel of that glass, and look how we have mixed metal and ceramic", just give me a nice alluminum brick >no curved display >Easy to access to the battery/removable battery
Sebastian Collins
My perfect phone: >4" screen >thick, slightly curved design on the back to fit a hand. >close to no bezels >Only a small speaker in the front so you can make calls, no camera, no giant logo, no loud speaker. >sd card reader >jack in bottom of phone
Nicholas King
>living in la la land >using such a shit and gay phone
fuck off idiots ill tell u how the perfect phone is done
>infinite battery that never runs out >unsmashable glass, can never be broken or scratched by anything >100% fingerprint proof >100% everything proof, just cannot break >input/output jacks that morph into whatever shape u need >screen that can be stretched or shrunk depending how big u want ur phone to be >surround sound system thats injected into your brain w/ wireless >eyeball resolution screen maxed out for humans >runs the best os that has everything and is customizable and cant be hacked fully secure
do these cunnies not realize it's just text typed out by a script?

Also forgot, make it thicker with huge battery, no glass back but simple textured anti slip polycarbonate.

Only using existing tech here: 4.7 inches FHD IGZO screen with that coating Motorola used on droid turbo 2, 1mm side bezels, 5mm top and bottom bezels, whatever SOC Apple uses+heat pipes for improved sustained performance, stereo speakers, ir blaster, wireless charging, usb type c, 3.5mm jack(it's sad these are a feature now), audiophile DAC and amp, dual SIM, sd card slot, dedicated camera button, dedicated music buttons, no front buttons, power button on the right combined with fingerprint sensor(or no scanner at all), at least 5000mAh removable battery(I don't give a shit how thick it's gonna be this meme needs to die), camera with high f and laser autofocus, WITHOUT BUMP, sapphire glass on that shit, NFC, at least IP68, carbon frame, unlocked bootloader and sources for the entire ROM available on day one(no blobs).
Jaxson Cox
1. Replaceable Battery 2. Expandable Storage 3. A 3.5mm Jack 4. 5.0" Screen 5. Latest Android release that is updatable in the future 6. 3+GB of RAM 7. Quad Core Snapdragon CPU 8. 1080p Display 9. Unlocked Bootloader 10. Physical Airplane Mode/No Interruption Switch
That's all I could think of

Pretty much this, but with waterproofing and USB C.

Sounds good, but for me? Just add: Waterproofing, 3000+mAh batteries, good quality front and back cameras, notification LED, good buttons
Brandon Rivera
>trackball between the screen and keyboard (not the whole toolbelt, just the trackball) >4 row keyboard >removable battery >AMOLED 1280x1280 display >micro HDMI port >USB 3.0 micro-B >Bluetooth 5

Pretty much this
Chase Anderson
This, but with no fucking bootloop issue. It's still the perfect smartphone afaic and nothing will top this design. Still the best camera hardware in a smartphone to this day as well that takes the best looking images.
Dominic Ward
>FHD 5" or QHD 5.5" IPS screen >no 2.5D screen or curved screen gimmicks >Only the required bezels to house capacitative keys, a stereo speaker setup and the necessary sensors >fingerprint sensor on the right side (like on the Nextbit Robin or Xperia phones) >24 bits audio support and a good DAC >USB C >Stock Nougat out of the box >4gb of RAM >3500 mah if 5", 4300mah if 5.5" >don't give a single fuck about the cameras >Honor 8-esque back and colors >microSD card slot >32 or 64Gb ROM >Everything but the screen and crystal back is metal >the best snapdragon SoC to date >an easy way to unlock the bootloader >Only Priority/Only Alarms switch like on the iPhone or 3T

USB C connector on top of phone. USB C connector on bottom of phone. Comes with USB C -> 3.5mm jack.
> normal spec wankery here 1080p screen to not spend more battery on drawing the screen than it needs to. Bluetooth so it works with hands-free systems, etc. (Why do people pretend that this should go away? Don't these retards drive cars?)
A built-in case like Microsoft's cell phones have.
Only has a small amount of internal memory, but takes MicroSD card if you want more. That way there's only one model, and it's easier on everyone.
Takes full sized SIM just to be contrarian. About the size of a normal 5.4" phone.
Large battery.
That's about it, really.
People go to store, buy the phone, or if they want more storage, but it with a microSD card. (Stores can do combo deals to get more customers.)
plug in headphones where it makes sense, plug charger cable where it makes sense...
Yeah. This is about what I'd want in the next gen of smartphones.
Caleb Rogers
' 1080p is enough for me but I'd like an oled display (it would drain less battery)
Is this true? I imagine each pixel having individual light would take more energy than LCD backlight but I'm not sure. Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong?
Brayden Flores
Why haven't anyone made a "shatterproof" (plastic or less scratch resistant glass) screen with a factory applied 9H glass protector on top of it?
If you drop it, the screen itself is much less likely to break and fuck up the touch and pixels, while the 9H glass is replaceable if it cracks and keeps the less hard screen below from getting easily scratched (as you can't have scratch AND shatter resistant in the same glass).
I've seen a few "active" phones which use the "shatterproof" screens but they scratch easily as fuck compared to harder screens. This would bring the best of two worlds.
