Firefox is incredibly fucking laggy, slow, memory-leaks like mad, and performs like shit both on tablets and on my top-specs gaming laptop. It doesn't matter how good your computer is, Firefox is ALWAYS slow.
...but I keep using it because of Video Download Helper, uBlock Origin, the bookmarks toolbar, and the ability to customize it in various ways.
I just want Firefox exactly the way it is but without the memory leaks and the lag that is ALWAYS present with it, no matter how good your computer is.
When will rajeets stop using softwares made for normal people?
Brody Watson
When are you going to stop being shit?
Daniel Thompson
Firefox/Palemoon/Waterfox and variants are all fucking shit.
t. switched to Chromium, the speed is not even comparable, even better with extensions like the great suspender.
Owen Harris
i would use edge if it had better/more extensions, edge is the best 64bit browser out there
Jayden Davis
>edge is the best 64bit browser out there Uhhh...
Kayden Howard
Is there a way to use edge on WInblows 7?
Sup Forums should make it's own browser.
Lucas Cook
When websites stop being shit, so never, nowadays everything needs to be flashy and full of javascript to get hyperactive normies attention
Cameron Martin
t. never used Edge
Hunter Nguyen
When Google, Yahoo, Facebook becomes the only sites the world use. They will create their own clients while shitting up chrome even further, it is happening already, see how many standards a browser have to meet to stay relevant. One way to fix this is to create another protocol that both appeals to normalfags and people that gives a shit to performance. But that won't happen because normalfags does not give a shit unless there is porn, games and friends in it.
Ethan Cruz
Nice digits.
>Firefox is incredibly fucking laggy, slow, memory-leaks like mad I don't have this issue on my desktop.
>performs like shit both on tablets and on my top-specs gaming laptop I'll take your word for it. Switch to something else, Chrome/Chromium?
>I keep using it because of Video Download Helper, uBlock Origin, the bookmarks toolbar, and the ability to customize it in various ways. There are several video download plugins out there. Or you could learn to use youtube-dl (works on other sites as well). uBlock works on several browsers from what I have heard. Even after the transition to wasm, firefox will still be the most flexible browser out there in terms of customization.
If you are having all of these issues then switch to something else. I have never had issues with memory leaks so I don't know what else to tell you. Stop torturing yourself and pick a new browser.
Oliver Rogers
Not OP, but my problem with chromium is that all the extensions I want from Firefox either don't exist, or barely exist and are awkward as fuck to use. Plus, it fucking sucks for autists like me who regularly have 18-30 tabs open.
Ryan Roberts
>Sup Forums should make it's own browser. Someone should start on a logo.
Luke Collins
>Nice digits. What does he mean by this, Sup Forums?
Nathan Peterson
Oh, don't worry, Mozilla announced that they're soon going to release an update that fucks over 99% of the existing Firefox extensions, so you won't feel as bad about switch.
Also, I regularly have like 60 tabs open over 10 windows on Chromium, never gave me any issues. Or at least it hasn't after the first 2 years or so when it was still unstable as fuck.
Asher Baker

While the post replied to mentions a very useful plugin, I should specify that I meant tab management -- shit like tree style tabs and tab mix plus and tab groups. Last I checked, those didn't really exist. I haven't found a good substitute for RefControl either, though to my surprise ScriptSafe looks like an excellent NoScript substitute.
Jacob Gomez
>firefox sucks but I need bookmarks Use any other browser?
Liam Parker
Actually there's substitutes for all these, except for tree style tabs. There's a few but they all always lack one feature or two that Firecucks has. Or you could use Vivaldi.
Nicholas Edwards
Non-free browsers are unacceptable. I'd be interested in names of these other extensions if you're aware of them, though. I found a half-assed TileTabs replacement and possibly Negotiator as a replacement for RefControl.
Jose Gomez
>Firefox is incredibly fucking laggy
No it isn't, shill fag. How much do you dumb cunts get paid to keep posting this lie?
Zachary Watson
When pic related becomes stable, Firefox will rise again.
Charles Jones
I'm on older hardware and firefox works fine
Blake Perez
as soon as a dominant browser emerges
Chrome is almost there
Colton Green
Oh, that. Yeah, I mean I just manage tabs with Windows, screens, and workspaces, but I can see how if you're used to a single-window experience you want it to work a particular way.
Samuel Lopez
Browsers will only stop being shit when they stop catering to javascript tards and actually focus on correctly implementing standards. Right now all they focus on is faster javascript, which is useless, since javascript isn't very useful, in the grand scheme of things. HTML is the most useful thing, because websites are documents. Stuff like MathML, XHTML, and SVG are also useful, as they can add information to documents. Javascript is useless. It cannot enhance a document.
Benjamin Reyes
React would interject for a moment, then continue enhancing documents.
Liam Johnson
Documents don't have UIs. Documents are text with metadata attached to provide semantic data.
Elijah Ramirez
what causes firefox to lag after being open for extend periods? it's not like it only starts lagging when its ram leak has maxed out your ram, it happens well before that.
Cameron Wright
That sounds like discrimination. Are you racist?
Logan Adams
Try the Brave browser. If you don't like selecting where to download shit, like the font too tiny and love 2 min start up times. You fucking entitled cunt.
Brayden Jackson
It just werks
Adam Allen
Honestly, edge is pretty good. It's a shame no one uses it because of the availabilty of extentions/add-ons and the old IE craps ruining any future MS browser releases.
Jacob Rogers
Not anymore it don't.
Michael Davis
>When are browsers going to stop being shit?
they stopped being shit when google chrome was released in 2008
Jonathan Ward
this ٩(。͡•‿•。)۶
Julian Thomas
Funny, because Firefox started becoming shit at around the same time that Chrome hit the scene.
Angel Jackson
Going to need to replace Firefox as of November.
Killing off of XUL addons will kill the browser for me. Been happy enough to deal with the substandard performance, but that's a ball breaker. I understand why they are doing it, but the browser will die before they get there.
Levi Williams
Any benchmarks to back this up?
>captcha : FUCK ME
Christian King
I have an ancient core2duo and Firefox is fine. I have Chrome too, and frankly I don't see any difference in speed. (Both can be slow on certain websites, though.) What exactly are you doing that you notice it being slower? Perhaps you can post a video comparison.
Not exactly scientific, but does reflect most of the news sites that have benchmarked recently. Feel free to look them up.
Jason Cooper
>html5 test HAHAHAHA I turn off half those options because they're literally botnet or for mobile devices. Haveing a higher HTML5 is not any indication of a better
PC
browser, if anything it's point out how little fucks are given about userdata. html5test.com/ >me >445
Wyatt Gomez
Yeah, I think his point was merely to point out compliance to the standards.
He establishes deviation from the mean instead of just going off ranking.
Firefox is a polished turd atm. They need to kill extensions to work on the browser, the extensions are the only things that make them worth using. So it's going to be slower than Chrome, same extensions as Chrome, and almost as much botnet. Gonna suck.
Liam Edwards
Still there's not much to gain by working on browser performance. We're talking around a tenthish of a second. Really coming to think that these threads are made by that webp autist. He's even got a Gmod server that advertises for webp in the load screen.
Jace Thompson
The thing with these conversations is, there is no other objective way to measure browser performance other than benchmarks.
Chrome feels a fuckton faster than Firefox on my machine when opening and rendering pages. It got better when e10 got enabled, but Chrome is still faster. I can't substantiate it beyond that.
