144hz

Is this a meme and does it affect user experience outside of games?

>outside of games
no

It makes the mouse smoother in the desktop. But otherwise thats it

Not a meme. You will notice shit like cursor speed and the choppiness of dragging a window around.

Assuming you do have functional eyes of course.

I was wondering about Adobe Auto Scroll
I notice stutter when I use it with 60hz
Especially in portrait mode.
Could anyone comment on Adobe auto scroll in 144hz? Is it better?

Adobe reader, the function shortcut is crtl+shift+H

Just moved my mouse and window around real fast on my 144hz asus and my 60hz acer, he's right

Using your OS will generally feel better.

Here's the shitty part though;
After 1-2 days, it feels like normal and the 'magic' is gone.

However, you will never be able to go back to 60FPS again.

yeah but the real question is if you're not playing games is that worth the extra price

you're better off getting a 4K monitor if you're after productivity

I have 2x 27" monitors @ 144hz, and that's plenty enough space for me.

Either way it's pure preference.

>however youll never go back to 60fps again

Na its possible. But only because most if not all high hertz panels have a terrible viewing angle and generally a weaker picture quality. However going back to screen tearing in games and reintroducing ghosting/motion blur/input lag does suck.

yeah there's an element of personal preference but at the end of the day "dragging the mouse around looks neat for a while" isn't a compelling reason on its own to upgrade, UNLESS you're also playing games

This, plus you get to experience disgust whenever you use 60hz

>But only because most if not all high hertz panels have a terrible viewing angle and generally a weaker picture quality.

Dropped. I'd rather stick with having accurate color reproduction and great viewing angles to cut down on color distortion rather than paying to have a faster mouse cursor.

its a meme dont buy it

Prepare your ass for 144Hz 10bit HDR 8K video.

You can go back pretty easily, I have a 60 and a 144 so I'm used to both mostly. Just takes a few hours to adjust.

I use both 60hz and 144hz next to each other and the difference doesn't bother me. 144hz is pretty cool and even nice in normal desktop usage etc. However you should get an IPS 144hz monitor and if you can't afford one just get 60hz IPS (sometimes overclockable to 75~78 hz and that's pretty nice already).

If you do not gayme much, especially fast paced stuff like counter strike definitely don't get 144hz .
That sounds like an issue from the program itself

Daily reminder that the only FPS you will ever need for a OS is the amount of max pixels in the resolution.
So for a 800x600 monitor you would need 800 FPS!!!!!!!
For 1920x1080 you need 1920FPS!!!!!!!!
You are literally getting nothing out of these 60FPS and 144 FPS shits!

Yeah. I have a 2 monitor setup, one is 120hz and the other one is 60hz. I can set up my OS to mirror the screens, so that I can see the same thing on the two different monitors.
Moving the mouse around mand dragging windows feel a lot different.

IPS 144hz monitor (Acer one) only comes at 2560x1440 resolution and I'm only running a GTX 1060, so I was wondering if I should bother.

It's like HDR for movement.

144 Hz is deprecated.
240 Hz monitors out threre.

Don't you only get those benefits when running the game at way higher than 144fps?

Only works well when ur playing fast pace games.
But unfortunately once you do 144hz, you can't do back.

Issue is getting 144fps at 1440p is hard
Even with a GTX 1080.

Its only logical that the FPS scale with resolution so I suggest having the ability to swing your mouse across the screen in one second is a reasonable benchmark.

Everything that is not 800FPS is trash.
I can tolerate 800FPS on 1920x1080 however jerking yourself if 60 FPS or 144FPS is better is pointless.

Personally I see no need to switch from 30FPS.
I have the capacity to run 60 FPS and I do in games however the difference is so minimal that its practically not noticeable.
Only retarded GAYmers obsess over muh 60FPS.

30FPS is all you need.

The ultimate placebo.
Did you ever measure the FPS?
In games?
Because FPS drop in games (this is not video).
>[Selects 60FPS in options]
>[Thinks he is running 60FPS]
>WOW so great can not go back
>[Is actually running the game at 29~30 FPS]

How watch 120fps movie on 30fps monitor? Are you kidding?

> Replaying to bait

What?
>120fps movie
What movie is 120FPS? Name 5 major movies or TV series that are 120FPS.
>30fps monitor?
Mine is 60FPS however whatever.
>How
Are you asking how to run a video with 144FPS on a 30FPS monitor? Simple drop frames.

It is not a meme. Everything is more fluid, and you will get motionsick for the first week looking at it.

I have a 390x which is maybe a tiny bit more powerful than a 1060. Only stuff like csgo, overwatch, starcraft2 run at high enough fps. Competitive games benefit most from 144hz anyway.
Not AHVA (IPS type) but TN
heavily diminishing returns

once you go 144hz you'll never go back to 60hz

wait for vega
