older thinkpads have too weak graphics for for csgo, unless you get one of those bulky workstations with discrete graphics

Completely true. My X220 would also play CS:GO admirably on lowest settings. My X230 will play it satisfactorily on medium/low with 2x AA.

get aftermarket screen. not ips but way better specs. if you have the 900p screen, it's a 15 min drop-in swap. if you have the 768p, you also need to replace the cable with lenovo fru for 900p. that's it !
best 40$ investment for a T430/s.
