Why is this piece of shit so slow? Holy shit this thing is killing my hard drive

Why is this piece of shit so slow? Holy shit this thing is killing my hard drive.

You just answered your own question, faggot.

Java. The bells and whistles typical for an IDE.

3rd gen i5
Samsung ssd
Debian stable (also tried on windows 10)
And this thing still lags

But it's not like you can name a better ide for (native) android development, so...

its bloated as fuck but does the job when you have a computer post 2010

I cry whenever I see this shit in my list of updates.I've never seen a software package that updates as slow as this.

Possible solutions.
a. Get 16 GB of RAM and an SSD.
b. Switch to Xamarin, Cordova, Corona SDK, React Native, etc.
c. Both.

>3rd gen i5
It doesn't seem CPU-bound. Even an older Phenom is plenty enough as long as you have a lot of RAM to spare.

it has to match android

Literally did kill my hard drive on Windows.
>pre Android Studio
>disk usage at a minimum, like 5% when torrenting at full speed
>using Android Studio
>computer killing itself to compile and push to my phone
>eventually drive started clicking and shutting down randomly

will i be ok using it on pic related?

No way. Add at least 4GB RAM.

reminder windows 10 kills harddrives

fucking thing keeps not seeing the android vm so I can't test the fucking app I'm making

It deploys to a device connected through adb.

Use cordova you filthy cuck

>hard drive

Well, that's one way to spot a non-developer.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, what the fuck?

>Using option B
wew nice meme

Why dont you have an SSD for development?

I don't know if you have the same problem as me, but for me android studio was a slow piece of shit, while intellij was working just fine. Considering how android studio is basically a clipped version of intellij, I found it strange, but intellij just werks.

Been using it for a decade on my Intel ssd now.
Never had an problem!

fast as fuck on my 2015 mac.

based on intellij so you know it's a good ide

4,00ГБ = 4.0GB

And no, 4 GB is not enough. I have 32GB of RAM and Android Studio uses 2-4 GB.

>le Java is slow may may

Yes, and OP just posted proof of it, faggot

Java hasn't been slow in and of itself for well over a decade, but Java applications use a lot of RAM. As a result, they can start swapping, which kills the performance dead.

They use a lot of ram but usually not enough to matter. Maybe if you're using a 10 year old computer. If that's the case then you shouldn't expect people to cater to you.
