nevermind im retarded

It's not fake, bub.

That is pretty clever for an eleven year old though, if he researched and did it all by himself, which I doubt.

clever in times of Youtube and standardized hardware?

I remember sitting the whole day in front of my first own build pc back in the P4 days, trying to figure out how to correctly Jump all my drives.

>put square block in square hole
>whiz kid

It's literally like building legos nowdays.
Even shorting your components is hard because of how protected they are against this kind of shit.

You can go to part picker, it will literally tell you what works and what not and once it's there you just follow instructions and done.

I was in the top 95% of all students in the state of California on standardized testing.

Before that sounds impressive to you,
I didn't learn to tie my shoes until the 5th grade, and still have issues with a rotary clock.

Did you also walk to school up hill both ways grandpa?

Fuck off.

Of course not

I'm not intelligent like blacks

Shouldnt you do your homework instead of Shitposting on Sup Forums?

I remember writing my own text adventures in Qbasic when i was like 12-13. No one in my house recognized the talent and kept saying that computers are bad and i should study "real" things.

They lured me into economics after filling my head for 15 years that i'm too stupid for EE or anything related to computers. I now work for 300e/month while all programmers earn 1k+/month (we are living in 3rd world).

I started learning programming now again on my own and it's really fun, it's going well and i want to kill myself

this thread again

Kid's as smart as most anons who "build" their own "rigs".

>pata
>he thinks its that old

Go play some minecraft, inbred fuck

Maybe you're just really good at taking tests.

M-m-monsterkill

if you never had a to use a p4 you're probably underage

11 year old refugee steals computer and is praised

I'd expect crap like this from the onion.

This. Back in 1998 I killed a motherboard BY FUCKING TOUCHING THE WRONG WAY UNPLUGGED. Now you have to literally fucking punch those shits to die.

I was a supergenius computer hacker back in the day, because I knew how to load games on a Commodore 64.

Playing vidya with friends
I miss those times.

> Open the task manager

it's easy to be a wiz in the south

He doesn't look 11 desu.

I used to solder my own CPUs but now I run my own fab in my shed.

> Power off a frozen emac by holding the power button
> Gain a lifelong reputation

Being a wiz in the far north isn't too difficult either, or really anywhere as long as you're not in the city I suppose.

I never killed a mobo like this, but I've had magic smoke coming out of nowhere on a 486 board. The only replacement I had was a shitty 386 with 8 MB of RAM, was a massive downgrade.

I built my first computer in 2000 when I was like around 13/14. A lot easier than it used to be. Hell I don't even know how often people still cut their fingers from pushing out the metal covers on the back of cases? It was like giving a blood sacrifice.

>cut their fingers from pushing out the metal covers on the back of cases

Haha, I did that while building my current desktop PC back in 2007.
Now that Ryzen is out, I might be building a new PC this year. I wonder if it'll happen this time too

What case is that?

UN food aid case

Don't be racist user

Imagine being so autistic that this year old story triggered the collective asshurt of Sup Forums so much that we have this thread every six hours.

I

WUZ

Did you just fucking assume its gender? Fucking shitlords I swear.

I agree, I've got excellent standardized test scores, I've Lego-snapped my own computer together like the 11 year old, but I feel like some people are orders of magnitude smarter than me. Test taking is one skill but there are so many others.

For guys on this board, this is a joke but we are not the average human being. You have to consider how fucking stupid usually are at his age. At his age I was already writing little Content Management Systems but that doesn't man that he isn't also above the average kid,

how cute that chimpanzee has a little sweater

yep, watch this
youtube.com/watch?v=LEgxS_vzQjU

Wait..is building a pc considered hard by the mainstream?

yeah. most people don't pay attention to how it works, just what it does

I built my own computer in 1996. That's nothing impressive on any level. People these days will write an article about anything. But to be honest, assembling pc part by part was easier back then, just pick up decent Pentium and off you go. Now you have more choices and that can confuse the little one's mind.

>when you power off your PC without wait for the "it's now safe to power off your PC" screen

I was a fucking hacker, m8

Please don't be misled. The average person on Sup Forums, even Sup Forums (and especially reddit shitholes like Sup Forums) is a dumbass who overrates their intelligence. You're the exception.

bitch i remember in like 2011 going to bestbuy and asking for a hdd jumper and they gave me one free, so i could jump my hdd. you fuck off.

>I remember writing my own text adventures in Qbasic when i was like 12-13. No one in my house recognized the talent and kept saying that computers are bad and i should study "real" things.
I'm 31, started like you albeit a bit younger and my family still says shit like this. I bill 80/hr plus travel (or 40/hr to read manuals/instructions at my leisure) to go to small businesses and fix their stuff. I made 3500 doing that in the last 2 weeks and only worked about 15 hrs each weeek. Every time family comes to town they ask me about my 15 hour a week part time advance auto job first, and then ask me whether I'm still doing that stupid computer stuff.
>They lured me into economics after filling my head for 15 years that i'm too stupid for EE or anything related to computers. I now work for 300e/month while all programmers earn 1k+/month (we are living in 3rd world).
Mind would had me doing the same thing if I'd listened to those brain dead idiots.
>I started learning programming now again on my own and it's really fun, it's going well and i want to kill myself.
Continue down this path you won't regret it.
Pic semi related, cluttered workbench.

>were you a whiz kid
Assembled my first machine at 9, started writing drivers for win95 shortly after (within a week). Not a whiz, just found a hobby I liked.

Damn right, I remember being 8 or 9 and getting our first computer running Windows 3.1 and there was no fucking youtube or wikipedia back then, just a ring binder manual go figure it out yourself.

I remember we got a family friend to build a new machine later on, I watched but wouldn't have had a clue then either with shit like jumper locations. Now days its a piece of piss when you have multiple devices with access to the internet, you literally just need a smart phone.

Back then it was my parents money and no backup machine, good luck with that.

It's impressive for a nigger. I was working with microcontrollers at his age, though. I guess it's headline worthy that a nigger knows how to plug a few things into their ports and turn tighten screws.

I used to hack shit back in the 90's era, in NY, i even harass a secret service agent called Richard Gill, gave him false infractions on the DMV system and sign him up on a tranny webpage, i had a group of elite people and together we hacked a Gibson super computer, it was nice.

Nicesu Memu

>school gets new computers
>windows 95
>power it off without shutting it down
>teacher turns it back on and the pc automatically runs chkdsk or whatever
>they got scared and banned me from using the computer for a few months

this was the exact moment where i decided to learn more about computer and electronics.

This.
If I made mine, everyfuckingbody can

When i was eleven i nearly bled to death from my hand slipping while removing some stuck ram, my wrist rubbed against a razor sharp, many-finned copper heatsink and I had to be rushed to the hospital

>be me
>go to a poor middle school
>2004 in eight grade
>computers are still using windows 95
to be fair it was just a typing class but still.

I was a wiz kid black in the day and even blacker in the night.

meh, first pc was an ibm 80286. Win 3.0/ms dos 5. had like maybe 20mb (yes mb) hdd. at the time it was awesome. wish i still had it, be worth a lot nowadays with all the retro mania going on and whatnot. first modern pc was another ibm, this one was an aptiva model in 1997. had win 95/lotus smart suite 97. was also my first taste of the internet. didn't take long before I was downloading porn/hentai. (Remember Nude Raider.com?). This was back when pc's cost almost like a decent used car. First time I upgraded the video, my mom walked in and freaked. she thought I'd killed it,lol (I was like 13/14 then)

this is unironically impressive, at 11 years old i couldnt even figure out what the file explorer was

When I was 8 I got my first computer, which was a IBM Aptiva from about 1998, ugly as fuck beige case with purple trim. I remember it having a AMD K6, SiS integrated graphics (which were utter shit and weren't glide compatible) and WinXP.

I added drives and stuff to it fairly frequently, everything was IDE. It ran slow as fuck because it really only could handle Win98 (which I eventually got). Shit was easy back then and it's even easier now. SATA, PCIe and USB are all plug and play and work out drivers and resources for you.

I miss playing Quake 3 at 15fps 640x480

Found a picture

>this is unironically impressive
It really isn't. Shit, 10 years ago boxed hardware didn't come with half the documentation it does now. Motherboard manuals nowadays look like fucking Lego or Ikea instruction sheets.

>at 11 years old i couldnt even figure out what the file explorer was
How are you doing nowadays?

>mfw spanish and understand what they're saying, as well as the comments section

I can't stop laughing

>swaps 500GB HDD for 1TB
>'i love IT'
>reporter: 'he's already become a prodigy of computers'

color a

same here when I was like 14 and I went on to fail algebra four times

Got a job building computers, a few weeks in this happened, ripped, not cut, there's still a little numb spot on that pinky.

>salvage parts from several sources
>assemble 2 working win98 computers with it so I can play duke3d against my little brother
>spend a whole day biking to and from the library with diskettes to get all the right drivers
Those glorious gigantic sound cards and 5.25" BigFoot hdd's were the shit.

Also, I don't see why something like that is news-worthy. Good for the kid and if he keeps up that drive he'll learn a lot and have fun, but there's kids like that everywhere, building and doing whatever interests them.

>in community college, early for class
>teacher remarks that computer takes forever to run chrome
>calls IT, they come over
>I suggest installing more memory, would be cheap
>next week she says computer is way faster and that they installed more memory or something

pretty easy

I'm 18, I grew up with kids this age and generation, they were dumb, but they were able to build computers. Partpicker is not hard to use

reminds me / looks like this one time i was fucking stupid and young

i was working on some house construction with my dad and he told me to switch out a bit on a drill so i took the drill and used the chuck to un do the thing but it was stuck so i got the BRILLIAN idea to put the chuck into the drill and turn the drill on gently so it would just undo its self
>however
my hand slipped and turn the drill on full-force causing it to grab the chuck and fling it around, catching my finger in the process and wrapping part of the cord around the head of the drill

it dislocated my ring finger on the right hand and tore the skin wide open which of course required stitches and it was extremely numb for almost a month if not more and for a long time i just had my finger curled up because it healed and felt really tight.

i was legit scared that i wouldnt be able to feel with that finger ever again but it got better.

Nah but I learned from the whiz kids in my elementary and middle school.
But those guys never did more beyond Linux and didn't programmed much sadly.

I WAS close to learn programming at 8 since I knew basic computing at 5 but went full retard and was a little piece of shit brat.
Oh boy if only I took those classes I would've 60k starting @ 16 desu.

I managed to nuke parts of my OS when I was 5-6, and I managed to install video games from CDs without any help.
How is that?

Heh I remember as kid going through win95 deleting shut restarting then deleting more just to see what was absolutely necessary.

Kek, how far did you get?

Kek, how did that go for you?

>getting so triggered by some clickbait site aimed at facebook housewives you decide to make like the millionth thread about it
literally kys

As opposed to being in the bottom 5%? Yeah I was in the top 95% too lol

What about this is impressive

Any shitlord kid who wants to run Minecraft at 60fps can buy $1500 worth of rgb-lit parts they heard about from PCPartPicker and out them together like fucking legos

I was top 1%, never studied because I'm an immigrant and American education is literal garbage for brain dead kids. Got into a top tier university as well but I ended up dropping out because I partied too much and I thought I could get away with what I did in high school, life isn't that easy.

I remember when I was a kid and I built a basic computer using a shit ton of spare parts (of my dads old PCs) in the basement.

But fuck dude, can't compete with this wiz kid, it takes a genius to use pcpartpicker.com

Not to bad actually most could go until the system folder and even then big chunks could be removed. Almost all you needed would be in use and not deletable, tons of errors but I got really got those folders slimmed down.

I had some itty bitty ide hdd ran through the ice port of the soundcard atm, I think lack of space is what got me started, that and boredom lol

by that logic raping your mother must be a clickbait

my main man

>drivers for win95
LUL, try doing it for Windows 10

dude what?

surely you couldn't have been the only one, i mean, it's entirely possible many people there could have only used DOS previously, which didn't have a concept of "shutting down", powering off whenever was normal

you should see what some people have gotten 95/98 down to

>be 7
>family pc having this "Enter CURRENT Password:"
>bullshit my way into the pc without the password
>brother who's studying programming stuff kinda discovered that i can bypass it
>he adds 3 more layers of password through his programming bullshit
>still manage to slip through em
>all that shit to play warcraft 1 and doom
>"you must be genius to bypass all the password added by your brother"
I was like, lol no. All i did was spam Ctrl alt delete, and holding random buttons when rebooting and i have 5% chance to bypass the password screen for some reason. I don't even know what's the explanation behind that, though the what worked best was holding INS button. As for that other extra passwords, i just did a step by step boot or whatever it was and just pressed no to some lines that i feel it's not important.

>top 95%
you mean top 5% lol

Kek

Oh man, that seems like it could be useful if you could make 98 secure

he obviously means he's in the eating crayons bottom 5% crew. no shame in that, we're all different

Do they have ultra light OSs like that (that aren't just home brewed)? Maybe a slim unixlike thing? That would be super cool. I'm going to Google that

if you're after a linux equivalent, that'd have to be tinycore (11M or 16M with a gui)
there's also minuetos (custom x86 assembly), which is 1.3M

He stole a few years.
