I'd only call someone with a Ph.D. in Computer Science an actual "computer scientist." Someone with a BS or MS is just a developer, typically.

Of course there is a difference between a programmer and a computer scientist. But a BS in CS is not going to qualify you for a job as "computer scientist," as far as I am aware. An MS might, but I've always thought a Ph.D. truly made someone a "scientist."

Alright Sup Forums I'm going fucking insane and no one knows what's going on, maybe someone in these threads knows.
Long story short, fell into a bsod loop and nothing works, a recovery media usb jumps into the same loop and shows me SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED(acpi.sys) when I access repair or usb or a black screen with error 0x00000031 and parameters with all zeros, I've tried this on over 4 usbs and redownloaded the tool and installed with rufus several times, this happens even on a completely formatted clean windows install HDD, however, both hdds that I used on the bsod pc work perfectly fine on another pc, no issues.

That's what I thought, after a lot of troubleshooting, memtest, hdd checks, booting with only select hardware and other shit nothing works, everything seems perfectly healthy, great temps and fans spinning fine.

Yes, but then I was able to install linux distros, ubuntu, arch, etc on these hdds with no issue what so ever, they run flawlessly.
However, anything windows that I use on this particular pc shits the bed, even if it's completely formatted and removed all partitions and what not, while linux works perfectly fine.
I'm out of ideas, I don't know what's going on and I actually do need windows on this pc, sorry if it doesn't fits the thread but I'm fucking desperate right now, it's been days.

ALL devs I know have a diploma AT MOST. Their skillset is WILDLY different to compsci. The devs I know (and in general) couldnt form a deep search function. Thats because theres no need for that as a dev. Its not a skill that comes up. Conversely, compsci wont learn how to stand up and use an ES6 server

The answer to your question is yes and no depending on how you want to slice it.

you require the network capabilities of the nas box to set it up initially. Once youve condfigured it, sure I guess you could disable all interfaces.

I want to use the storage ideally through some cable, while maintaining the ability to have a raid and make it as secure as possible from any exploits that synology and other crap is facing. I was thinking about having some plain USB stick (or external harddrive) for that reason, but what USB stick allows to abuse it with just non-safely removing it constantly. (do SSDs survive such abuse maybe?)

all usbs allow you to do this and have zero issues with it. the only reason safely eject exists is so anything being written to disk finished before ejecting the drive. it has nothing to do with the health of the medium

KDE neon vs kubuntu. what's the difference?

I have had atleast 6 usb sticks and 2 external harddrives corrupting on me in the (recent) past, so really bad experience with that.

the only good experience I had with phone memory, but I don't know any external storage that has same capability.

Sadly I could not even find any tests or reviews on USB sticks besides their R/W speed, nobody lists how reliable usb sticks are, I dont care to pay over top if this doesnt corrupt on me literally a month later. Before editing the config file of irssi was on super user by doing 'sudo su'. Now every time I start irssi i get the default configuration, I have to enter super user for my configuration to load. My question is this: How many config files does irssi have? I wanna backup my current config but .irssi/config doesn't contain my config. Can I export my settings while running irssi?

yes, they can check the logs on the exchange server to see what time it was sent, wether it was via OMA or outlook, and if they really needed to they can check the AD server for your login, wether it was via citrix or on the LAN, then check the logs on the VPN server for the original IP you connected to the VPN with

something on site only. depending on what level of access you get to whatever it is you do at work, you could either do absolutley nothing, or sudo rm -rf the inside of the servers

Where do you read that? KDE neon is literally just Ubuntu LTS with the KDE Plasma desktop. They use it to test out their new Qt software.

There is nothing called "the Neon desktop environment". It's called Plasma. Neon is the system itself.

I have this old monitor, MAG Innovision LT716s.
The other day it just died. Nothing happened, no weather, nothing else went wrong. Just... its power went off and wouldn't come back on.
Gave it a good day to rest, tried again, nothing. Not even the indicator will light up.
Everything I google for talks about a monitor turning on for a second or 2, then turning off, but mine won't even turn on at all.
I opened it op to make sure some cable inside didn't come lose, and didn't notice anything wrong with it but outside of a plug not being plugged in I'm not really sure if there's something else I should be looking for.
It's probably just fucked, but I'd be open to more free suggestions.

I have an chinese condenser mic that was nice and cheap but has great sound quality.

It works okay with my sound card but needs phantom power to work at its best.

Are there any sound cards that provide phantom power directly through 3.5mm jack or will I need to purchase external PSU?

In addition, could anyone recommend a sub £50 sound card that will be sufficient for a prosumer application?

I have a room on cytube, and I want to watch anime with friends in that room. Anime is available for streaming on kissanime, but for some reason the videos refuse to be embedded because of their odd urls when you grab video location from the player.

Is there some workaround for getting urls from kissanime which can be embedded into cytube's player? Alternatively are there other anime streaming sites whose videos would be easier to embed?
