Anyone got tutorial for connecting huge amount of led's safely so i dont burn my house down?

Define a huge amount of LEDs. You can get WS2812Bs in strips of 5 meters at a density of 144/meter.

You can leave it as a strip or make matrices from them.

Let's link back to last round since it still is in the archive:

i just watched The Matrix last night
i dont understand why it is such a popular movie. it was complete shit
can anyone give me a rundown on the significance?

Is there possible to organize a coup in the Third world country (mainly african) using large botnets of compromised devices. In my opinion, the possible strategy can be next. Firstly, you can ddos main internet providers in country. Secondly, you can spread fake news in social media using fake accounts about failed government trying to break internet and revolution in country. Is this possible?

Semi okay plot with 'borrowed' visuals from a lot of cyb sources (GITS, Dark City, etc). Idk what to tell you. It was a big budget cyb(ish) action movie with Bullet Time (tm).

thanks i guess. i really was expecting more desu

You actually live in a third world country?
If so you need to read some history of your country.
If not you need to understand that the reason third world governments don't simply shoot people is because bullets are expensive and you can't receive good bribes with arms suppliers.

t. third worlder.

I know it's a bit more of a /diy/ thing than this board is known for, but anyone got their own /cyberdeck/ here?

...

I remember in the last thread there was a lot of discussion about how, even though our (western) society has most of the hallmarks of cyberpunk, it doesn't really look like what cyberpunk societies are always depicted as.
What I think needs to be remembered is that even with all the corruption in our world, lots of places still have pretty strict construction/building codes and regulations, making shit like pic related not very viable in New York or Chicago or wherever.

20 meters of not so dense strips like this. Is it safe? What should i use for connections between wires?

where/how would someone purchase an alleyway?
parking an rv or trailer in an alley would be schway

Would you not want the handle on the left side??

I suppose it depends if you're left or right handed
Use those wagos with the levers, the 221s or the 222s

pump

Alleyways are usually private property of the owner of the buildings they're between. You would probably have to make a deal with someone who owns an alley, or just squat there

>Is there possible to organize a coup in the Third world country (mainly african) using large botnets of compromised devices.
Unlikely.

These countries are run by immense paperwork that required stamps and signatures all over the place, a system that is typical of countries and cultures where people will not trust each other. I deal with such cases regularly.

You will not reach sensitive enough data with a botnet simply because the files are paper files.

it's getting somewhere

God can you believe the nerve?
How could someone make that movie it's like they just stole the entire idea of tron going in your computer. It wasn't fun with any thought provoking or action stuff at all. Oh my god I might as well of just been sitting there watching titanic it's not like cgi wasn't a common thing nobodies ever seen before. Who gives a shit about an interesting bit of noir at the start progressively adding more sci fi elements and action. Anyone could of shot that movie YAWN Can you believe all those millions of sheeple that thought any of it was original what a bunch of plebs

I swear Sup Forums needs a fucking age posting limit like 18 or something

>I swear Sup Forums needs a fucking age posting limit like 18 or something
it, uh, has one

Noice. Are you using the mega as the core of the cyber deck? Why not use an RPi with a regular screen?

The mega is just what I'm using to work out the kinks in that 40x4 LCD. I might use an atmel chip to drive it in the end, but it'll probably be a slave to an rpi zero or rpi compute module if I can convince myself to get one of those. I'm using the screen because all I really want to start with is a terminal, and it fits really well in the case.
How's the clock going?

Kill me but I always liked The Matrix. In 2 > 1 > 3 order actually.

Alright. I got it laid out and prototyped, but for some reason the last two digits never worked. After I had disassembled it and reviewed my schematic I think I'm using the wrong pins. I did manage to get my VFDs working find on my drivers. I want to make a nixie and VFD clock, but now I have another project going on.

Just installed ransomware on hosting startup in Bulgaria
Whatchu peeps be doin?

Am I the only one who would kill for a cyberpunk a e s t h e t i c but it fears the powerbill?

Noice.

I just spammed my neighbour who was yelling on teamspeak with deauth packets. No I can live in silence.

Now*

leds are more power efficient than traditional bulbs, so I'm sure if you switched out your bulbs to a low-light ambient led scheme, you'd save a bit of money

I don't know about lighting up your room like a christmas tree, though

But leds won't give same feeling than neons and crt monitors give.

led backlighting is a comfy feel, especially when you can wirelessly change the colors

I think I stumbled into a cyberpunk-ish conspiracy
I tried using my moms computer, I found files that might be... illicit like an illegal download. This cybercrime could span multiple states or even across the world who knows where this came from. It's only a few MB of info. I don't think she's the culprit. I think someone gained access to her system, real covert espionage type stuff, then did their illicit things. I suspect maybe her boyfriend. Should I report them both to the NSA/CIA/FBI? How do I do it anonymously so I don't get caught. What if there is a keylogger on here?

I believe you, but it is not the same feel, once again. I don't want my room or furniture look like literally whatever todays room.

The feel and backlight CRTs, Neon, Halogens and that kind of light gives, it can't be given with LEDs.

Hey Sup Forums Indian cyberpunk here, I live in Delhi and we got a place called "palika bazaar" which is my to-go place for any sort of cyberpunk project. Its an underground market (literally) and near the entrance you have your comic book stores and electronic thrifts and whatnot but once you go deeper inside you'll find a ton of deepweb-cybercafés (basically computers with tor), console/PC modders, stolen electronics, Pirated videogames etc. And the constant sight of endless fibre cables running overhead adds an amazing touch. I'll post an album of my project pretty soon, will post on Sup Forums maybe?

Y O O O O O O O O

That sounds amazing
Pics soon pls?

mite be cool, sounds like one could lose themselves in the crowd in a place like that.

Yeah sure thing, I'm currently in the editing phadr, I'm trying to go for the Liam-wing/Masashi kind of look.

Phase* wtf

i feel like the Nintendo switch could be used to make this

You've posted this image in like every thread that you possibly can. We get it already, now fucking do something else with it

Is that autorouted? Routing looks like shit.

Try harder.

I have a full time job, I just had a kid, and I work on other projects. How about you use your NEET bux to do something productive?

Doesn't need to be pretty. All the power rails are routed by hand and some of the signals that weren't auto routing right are routed by hand. Other than that it doesn't trigger my autism like it does others.

For user, I doubt you could have this feeling with LEDs.

I'm

So I gut a motorola t900 and plan to drop a duino in it. Perfect form factor and flips like a boss.
Keyboard has sweet clicks and you can't beat the green backlit monochrome lcd.

But what the hell is this little foam strip used to connect the mainboard to the keyboard and lcd?
Should I reuse it? I only need the keyboard and lcd; not the boards on the right. How else would I connect to the ribbon cable?

Info on what this conductive foam is and where to get some?

That red trace on the left should maybe be rerouted. What software did you use?

Don't forget to remove the EXIF data.

Yeah mate will do

lol? it was a shit film. get over it.

Is that just the atmel chip that drives it, or do you need some other muxing or something?

Oh, that shit. If you can solder to the traces without using that shit, id do that

This is far fetched but I think I remember from some time a general or pastebin or wiki article espousing a type of music file format as "authentic cyberpunk music". This file format was digital and (I think) stored instrument data rather than soundwaves (kinda like midi except it wasn't midi) and there was some website where a bunch of these user made tracks were hosted and rated by other memebers.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOD_(file_format)

I have a huge collection of keygen music if you want it

Ah that's it thank you! Yeah, i'd really appreciate the keygen music.

mega.nz/#!8AcBRTIa!hsHpVefZrPNao87ldg_3TUQ4KdJS8B46SYyJXatmK40

There is probably a bunch of duplicates I've never gone through all of it.
is pouet.net the site your thinking of?

Any suggested resources for learning how to solder? Last time I did it was in middle school, and I feel like I'm going to be limited in what I can create until I learn how

I know eevblog has some older videos that are pretty good, I think the biggest things are just having a good iron and practicing. What iron do you hvae?

temp control iron or you will fuck shit up. and get some lead solder

these threads always are about how to jack in on the cyberspace but what about when you want jack off?

I don't have one - starting from scratch

I agree, start with leaded solder, and either a hakko or weller station with temp control. Fuck RoHS.

>user watches an 18 year old film after all the hype, critical acclaim and myriad of media that's followed which have built from and even surpassed it.
>It's shit
Watching it now, for the first time ever in 2017; it's gonna seem a bit dated, cringey and overrated. But back in it's day, it deserved all the praise it got.

Also the /ohm/ threads on /diy/ might be a good resource.

Where has /cpg/ been all my life. It's the Sup Forums I always Sup Forums to be.

Is there an essential cyberpunk reading/watching list? I'm currently re watching all of Ghost in the Shell, then I'm not sure what.

flood detected

Ergo proxy and SE Lain
put blade runner on repeat and read neuromancer

Neuromancer is what got me into cyberpunk. Watched Lain a few weeks ago since it's the Sup Forums meme show. Thought it was breddy gud.

I'll grab blade runner and give it a shot.

Right now I'm looking for reading material, but lay on me whatever you got.

Books:
- Neuromancer
- Snow crash
- Diamond age

Also I think Samurai Jack falls pretty close to the cyberpunk genre.

Samurai Jack was my shit. Too bad it never really finished. I rewatched that a couple years ago.

God, I wish Gibson would write more. Even his non cyberpunk shit is pretty damn good.

randomwire.com/kowloon-walled-city-rebuilt-in-japan/

I just started reading one of his books. Do you have to read 25+ish chapters with stuff that makes no sense to have it all explained in the next 3 chapters and then the story actually seems caught up and really interesting, or is it just the later books that are like that?

does anyone else see a lot of modding potential in the nintendo switch? i havent played videogames since i started college so i wouldnt be interested in that, i just think the switch would be a good model for some kind of cyberpunk setup

nvidia shield portable

No, they are not as dependent on tech. Not only that but they can't afford a revolution.
Also kill yourself for wanting to cause chaos, little kid.

They are airing a new season to finish it atm in case you somehow did not know.

It's a foam block with little wires going through the middle. I'm guessing there's two lines, one to get the keyboard to the mobo, and one to get the mobo to the LCD.
If you can solder that small, do, but perhaps either get two flex cables made, one to connect to each, or, much easier, a small rectangular PCB with the sole job of pressing onto the foam where the motherboard originally did, and breaking out the traces. You could even throw an AVR on it if you wanted.

Watch The Second Renesaunch, in fact all of animatrix. That's where you get your moneys worth.

Why isn't this in the fucking op?
Holy shit, this would have cost hundreds of millions to build, that's fucking mental.
I may never have seen the original, but I hope to hell this place sticks around for a bit longer.

They're all like that, I don't like them

is it like the teen titans

>But what the hell is this little foam strip used to connect the mainboard to the keyboard and lcd?
Most likely an anisotropic conductor, possibly a "zebra stripe". These are commonly used to make contact to the delicate electrodes on a LCD.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_conductive_film

I would recommend reusing it.

...

>Right now I'm looking for reading material, but lay on me whatever you got.
Check the paste posted by OP, specifically
>How To Into Cyberpunk: pastebin.com/PPueAapP (NEW!)

dude you _need_ to watch Blade Runner, so many things you were familiar with before but were unaware of their origin will click once you do

Neuromancer is so street and ghetto. All the dialogue is like an old rap video. I cant make myself like it.

Check the OP, there's a new pastebin with a shitton of books.

As for my personal taste, which pushed me into cyb was:

>Matrix
>Alien and Predator (although I guess someone would say is plain sci-fi)
>Neuromancer trilogy
>Ergo Proxy (dense for MY taste, I'm not very smart)
>Jhonny Mnemonic
>Shadowrun
>Mirror's Edge
>E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy (although I need to try it agian)
>Deus Ex
>Half-Life (I think it has the oppresion through technology thing, open to debate)
>Hard Reset
>Elysium
>Equilibrium

I'm open to debate of a few things that I said are plain Sci-Fi, but this is more or less what it made me go into cyb

I forgot about Blade Runner, I have to download it.

Stuff like half life(2)'s still cyberpunk, just because you throw aliens into the mix.
And mirror's edge is only good once you're familiar enough with cyb that you can sit back and have a nice hearty chuckle at the whole thing.

Damn son good mix

Yes, I'm agree. Although I was in doubt since I don't really know if people disjoin Sci-Fi form Cyb. Like Alien and Predator, for example, don't have that feel of opression through tech, but alien movies (the good ones) happen because some bigass company want the Xenomorph to them.

Oh, thanks.

In addition, I was checking my anime list, and I don't have almost Cyb material. I have maybe one or too that get close to or with some conspiranoic tint.

That's it thank you

>cowboy bebop
>lain
>texhnolyze
>snatcher
>shadowrun all iterations
>systemshock 2
>uplink

burning chrome

I didn't like Lain, that's why I didn't mention it. And i like Cowboy Bebop a lot but as Predator, I think it lacks relevant faces of Cyberpunk. I didn't play/watch the others so I can't say.

>>systemshock 2
We can say system shock 1 now, too. The remake makes it playable.

>mega.nz/#!8AcBRTIa!hsHpVefZrPNao87ldg_3TUQ4KdJS8B46SYyJXatmK40
thx

>We can say system shock 1 now, too. The remake makes it playable.

Proper movement keys and mouse look?
