Ummm, wrong! AMD has at least 2 full time employees working on mesa. That's excluding anyone who works on the actual driver, which I estimate to be over 10 people.

David Airlie shat on AMD code because it was unmantainable, AMD is still rewriting it to cater to coding standards. Meanwhile, no HDMI/DP sound, unless you build your own patched kernel or use a PPA/Copr that packages a patched kernel.

Just built the latest 4.9 kernel with their patches in it. Works fine except OpenGL compositor crashes every time so I had to disable.
