> year is 2017 + 0.25 > AMD drivers on linux still don't have HDMI/DP sound
Literally explain yourselves AMD and linux fags. How hard is implementing sound in Linux that no one has been able to successfully do it in years? Is the AMD house of cards starting to fall down?
Mine does... HD7770 radeon I have audio out over DP1.4 to a Dell P2715Q...
Nicholas Cooper
Yeah but how can I get audio from rx480 on my 4.10 kernel right now?
> Decide to try out amdgpu-pro to get sound > Get code from AUR > has many multilib dependencies > Enable multilib > Notice a patch disables DAL by default. > Remove patch manually > Code builds but has conflicts with a library > Fix conflict > Driver doesn't work on newer xorg-server version > Have to downgrade to 1.18 > Realize driver doesn't work on linux 4.10 > Just give up and use my rMBP™
Ryan Fisher
>AUR >broken If you were using Ubuntu, Fedora, or SUSE, it would probably work.

Bentley Williams
>be me >have T420 with Windows 7 >delete Windows 7 >install the Stallman Approved GNU/Linux distribution called Trisquel >install was fast and easy >boots in 5 secs flat >everything seems to work >try to connect to WIFI >WIFI requires non-free drivers >restore windows 7 backup >everything just works
Hunter Morgan
>Implying you'll have freedom with loonix
Luis White
hey, that's a nice monitor you have does one need font antialising at that high DPI?
Hudson Murphy
SIR, PLEASE STOP TRASH TALKING AMD ON THIS FORUM. I HAVE CREATED A LINK WITH THE FIX TO YOUR ISSUE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED LINK.
Yeah seriously I can't get this. How come windows poo in loo programmers can get everything together so fast and working with almost any hardware but linux "superior" programmers aren't able to get simple shit sound or thumbnails working? I think it has something to do with majority of them being autistic fucks
Asher Allen
Why does everyone hate poo loos? What about beaners? Fucking bean in my peen
Jackson Hall
I don't know. Stock Ubuntu unity looks great and performs well. Scales brilliantly.
Colton Wright
Nobody gets paid to write Linux drivers.
Daniel Hughes
>being a JIDF shill
Jonathan Stewart
THIS fucking right here, in enterprise you get all the drivers you want since there is a shitton of money in it, not so much for desktop Linux distros where everyone expects everything to be free
Jayden Cruz
>buying amdpoo kek
Jace Sanders
Ummm, wrong! AMD has at least 2 full time employees working on mesa. That's excluding anyone who works on the actual driver, which I estimate to be over 10 people.
Nathan Bailey
You do know that AMD employees are writing Linux drivers, do you?
David Stewart
David Airlie shat on AMD code because it was unmantainable, AMD is still rewriting it to cater to coding standards. Meanwhile, no HDMI/DP sound, unless you build your own patched kernel or use a PPA/Copr that packages a patched kernel.
Gabriel Torres
>Stallman approved distro >working distro Pick one
Jaxon Butler
Lmao you people shit on Windows users but you can't be serious when you demand that everyone must put up with shit like OP's?
James Morgan
what makes you think they're different people?
Jaxson Bailey
> T'was an act
Jeremiah Myers
you need to look into whitelisting your bios and change the wificard to a Stallman approved one.
Jeremiah Parker
Can you fags not just use optical out?
Jason Fisher
>HDMI lmao, enjoy your meme
Justin Clark
Reminder that DC will literally (literally) never get merged.
Ryan Martinez
Because every PC has optical out. Sure.
Just built the latest 4.9 kernel with their patches in it. Works fine except OpenGL compositor crashes every time so I had to disable.
