I've read that Super AMOLED is just a marketing term by Samsung, but that it does reflect 1/5th the light of the original AMOLED. I know Samsung sells this tech but doesn't lend the Super AMOLED name out to anyone.

As an adult, in a solitary sort of career with a new baby, I've avoided smartphones for about a year after my Nexus 5 died. I traveled to Europe often and it was a great unlocked phone but the baby kept me home so I just used a burner since 2015.

in that case i'd go for an S7, it'll last for a while and is a solid piece all around.
customizing can help you do basically anything. if you don't wanna run a custom rom you can always do a lot of fun stuff by just rooting and using xposed mods alone. easy and tons of options.

I just turned on my 5x for the first time in a few weeks since trying out the Honor 8.
The speed difference is going to make it hard to go back, but the lack of dev support on the Honor is a deal breaker.
In short, nothing really "works." No good, working ROMs for the Honor 8, no working recovery...it's a hassle to unlock the bootloader...I'm returning it.
I'm gonna miss the screen and speed of everything, but I think it's only solidified my choice of a pixel for my next phone
