Did you remember when you actually have a turbo button on chassis?
My 486 had one. Needed to use it to half frequency when you used programs that based their internal counts/clocks on CPU frequency.

Not him, but this guy: I still marvel at the incapability of some commercial MS-DOS programmers, who did not use proper timers.
I learned PIC timer programming with interrupt handlers at age 15. How could these commercial developers not master such a stupidly simple thing?

Lol thinks like
>How you time your actions? Hey let's use loops because we know more or less it take 1 second to run 1000 loops
CPUs double frequency

It's was interesting because most of the time you couldn't tell the difference between 50 and 100mhz.
The most surprising thing is that mobos and case makers actually implemented a hardware solution for a software bug, all while the CPU architecture was limited to 640kb of RAM + plus a lot of shenanigans to run the upper and extended memory.

You.. downgraded from a 7970 to a 270x? What happened? If a 7970 died that early you should have gotten a 290 as an RMA replacement not 270.

Wasn't the turbo button to make it not go faster, but to run at a specific frequency for some older DOS programs and stuff?

The turbo limited the frequency so it was de facto the first switch based downclock I remember.

>the implication is that it will make it go faster

Sad life of the lazy poorfag.

Looks like mITX are coming well before the R5 launch, and some board manufacturers are just going to use the X370 chipset instead of waiting on the X300 one that's specifically made for mITX.

What's the difference between x370 and x300 and how is x300's existence justified if x370 can be shrunken down to mITX?

x300 is likely not going to support SLI and will use less power.

I fell for bitcoin meme, bought hd7970 to mine, mined the shit out of it until I started to see artifacts. Also used it partially as a space heater for my small room at that time. Anyway I actually turned profit, after I sold that to some clueless guy, bought r9 270x, 60$ PSU and 512 samsung ssd with money made. No regrets yet.

All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro
GeForce 7800 GT
GeForce 8800 GT
HD 6950
16x HD 7950
HD 7850
RX 480 4GB

Oh yeah, total was 22x HD7950.

Mining?

486 DX2
Pentium MMX 200
K6-2 450 (supposed to be 500, never ran stable)
Pentium 3 1Ghz
Athlon X2 3600+
I7 3630QM
7700k @ 1.15V

You'd think if he mined with that many cards, he could afford better than an RX480. Like a Fury X or Nano.

LTC mining. Sold when it was high to get the original investment back, then sold the hardware (except a few of the GPUs and a couple of motherboards and PSUs for myself) for a return of about 85% of the original purchase price. Still have thousands of coins. I mined over 1000 with that 6950 when LTC difficulty was below 1.

Why would I get something I don't need?

Just because I haven't really felt the need. It probably helps that I use Linux with XFCE which is fast and responsive, even on old hardware.

That's it. I'll get AMD next, probably.

Jesus you upgrade a lot.

I can understand before the 2500k since CPUs were improving rapidly up until that point. But 4820k to 4770k to FX9590 to 4960 to 6700? Huh?
Were some of these made for your SO or something?

Literally baby steps upgrades KEK

I didn't pay anything for 4770k or the 6700k and I got the 4960x at an extreme discount. Working for a computer shop has it's benefits.

Yeah but that's just the order I got them in. The Fury is my primary card but I felt like screwing around with a 480 for some reason.

These were either my only rig or my game rig.
