What are the benefits of learning French?

What are the benefits of learning French?

knowing french

u can suck my cock if u talk to me in french

1. You can speak to 3rd world niggers
2. You can also speak to the people from the former colonies of france

None. Don't fall for the "romantic" meme. Unless you want to get married to a big black guy called Marcel.

aren't you two cute

>What are the benefits of learning French?
My qt high school oneitis took french so I took it for 3 years and eventually in college we banged a bunch.

C'est bon, chef.

you can watch Habs games and order poutine

Learning languages is always useful. I know burgers dont seem to grasp this but think a bit

We can pick up French girls.

Conversely, you might want to learn about a little thing called "opportunity cost".

you can pretend to be french and pick up american girls

visit quebec.

>pick up american girls
You'd also need a crane for that.

>Unless you want to get married to a big black guy called Marcel.

My dream

French waked up and becoming a little bit brave.
So I like French now.

noice

If you wanna learn a new language, try German, Norwegian or any Germanic for that matter. They are similar to English.

The only language where doing that will actually enhance your pronunciation

What are the opportunity cost of learning a language

Kek

never again

Like clockwork

None, retarded language

It's a blast to learn. Also you can read French literature.

Why spend 1000 hours learning the language just to read a book when you can read its English translation in 5 hours?

>talking about opportunity costs
>on Sup Forums
this place has cost you about a million opportunities to change your life for the better already

learning languages isn't nearly as much of a waste, in fact it's mostly a valuable skill

It wastes precious time you could spend shitposting.

It's not the same. I'm not a snob about translations, like most of the fags on /lit/, but it's just not.

It's more patrician than Spanish and English desu

also french ye-ye is best and serge gainsbourg

Because you lose a lot in translations

Why not shitpost in the language you are learning

Dont you want to read 4 20 leagues under the seas in the origional text

You can speak to Frenchmen
So basically, none

>4 20 leagues

Ayy

Of course, but there a gorilion other things I want to do just as much. Like learn financial jewjitsu, general relativity, and how to make the perfect porno.

It's not as fun as you may believe

literally none

french movies sucks
french series sucks
french literature is meh
french people will rather speak to you in english if you don't speak french perfectly

Like it or not, Jean-Pierre here has a thoroughly unassailable point.

Ever translated texts ? Not school stuff, actual complex texts

I'm the only one who speaks English in this country so I did it for work even though it's not my job.

And I guarantee you have to change things, a lot. Many words and expressions don't translate, you have to always rephrase everything. Slang is almost impossible to translate too.

As a result all style gets lost. Substance without style isn't something you want to read.
Some authors you shouldn't even bother with. CĂ©line comes to mind, can't imagine anyone reading it not in French and actually getting it. Or even just enjoying it.

pretty much this

If I was a white woman, I would.

>regardez moi je parle trop bien anglais

Hans ...

Girls and that's about it.

Je préfererais pas qu'on me demande ca hein, maintenant que je sais la prochaine fois je dirais que je parle pas anglais
