It was 3 just 10-15 years ago though.

Great site btw if you want to find a dark area to look at the stars.

9 desu
upper silesia

About a 4 on that scale.

I live in a small town but the light pollution extends for a few miles out of the city limits. Not as bad as a suburban sky because this is really the only town of an appreciable size for fifty miles in any direction.

9 but i can still see some stars if it's clear enough

it's worse than 9 here

True dat. If you step one foot outside the Planty (which is upkept for the sake of tourists), all the buildings are dark with soot.

We're gonna be Beijing soon.

I live in the downtown area of one of my country's agglomerations.

5

Somewhere from 7-9.

What places in the world are even a 1 these days? I would so like to see that.

Aren't all our cities polluted to hell in comparison to the rest of the EU?

9

Any desert, significant mountains, or ocean. Probably also Siberia/northern scandis. Ocean is most significant though

How is eastern Poland doing? I have..... some investments

15.
think deus ex:hr levels of yellow.

for whatever reason scots have everything lit here and i approve of it.

Oh boy, my family town is in eastern Poland and I went to school there when I was younger and moved to western Poland when I got older. Eastern Poland is still behind the rest of the country but it's also their style of life, most people there are farmers and villages dot the terrain so I don't think it's going to change much even if investments are brought in (which already are being done in the bigger cities there).

5-4
Have seen comets on moonless nights though

Where I live we have specific laws against light pollution because we've an international observatory up in the mountains.

In a good clear night, in my parent's town, it's 2-1

All pictures seem over exposed, but it's quite impressive in person too

Toronto

I haven't seen a star in years.

Berlin

Between 5 and 7 I'd say

About a 4.

las vegas

7-8 in the city. about 5 just outside it.
I've seen 1 in the mountains near Mongolian border. Shit's unbelievable.

>the mountains near Mongolian border
Tuva? Did you go there specifically for that?

You're confsuing regular pollution with light pollution.
Light polution is about how lit your city and now many strong source of light it has. In very simple terms, your streer light blinds you and you can't see faint stars

I wasn't refering to light pollution in that post, for light pollution tho we're also pretty bad, there is only a handfull of places in Poland where you can see 1-2.

What the fuck is happening here?

No, Altay. I've been to Tuva too though, don't remember looking at the sky.
Just a general sightseing on a vacation. The mountains and lakes there are prety beautiful

Mining
Norilsk is there

Breddy cool.

9 when there is electricity
4 when there isn't
2 in rural areas

...

Mining and the oil industry, rather

This is the area where most of Russian gas is mined. There's barely any cities there, that's probably gas flares burning off procuts of refining.

Norilsk is the detached spot in the top right.

Oh damn. Forgot Norilsk is in Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Yamalia would be Salekhard, Tarko-Sale, Novy Urengoy, etc. 91% of Russian natural gas

9

Such is a life in an overpopulated shithole.
