How the fuck are you supposed to learn words' gender?
it's by the far the most weird thing in languages only natives can do right
How the fuck are you supposed to learn words' gender?
Other urls found in this thread:
because it's obvious
the moon is OBVIOUSLY a woman
the chair is OBVIOUSLY a woman
the sun is OBVIOUSLY a man
my headphones are OBVIOUSLY male
end of the question
Tell that to the Germans
Literally every one of those was wrong.
Absolutely correct
remember the word with the gendered article
eg "la famille," "le prof," etc
this
if it ends with "a" then it's female.
..no?
la luna
la silla
el sol
los audiphonos
>remember the word with the gendered article
This. I understand that it's hard for people with no gender. Just learn the article with the word, it's the best way.
He meant it's the opposite in German, I guess
>Inanimate objects having gender
Fucking tumblr pansexual dear-kin trans SJW bastards.
>moon
male
>chair
male
>sun
female
>headphones
female
idk. it comes natural to me
Man, that's so gay.
french is gay
israel is so imperialistic
>french is gay
Why? Do you say it because it's "à la mode" or you actually really think it?
after the 8th year of french class i just gave up and figured that if the word ends with an "e", it's feminine
True in 90 % of the cases
yeah, they also have us learn "à" alongside verbs that use it (eg. "continuer à" vs "manger")
also your "r" is fucking suicide
i don't think it actually
but you said that was gay so I had to 1 up you, catch my drift mate?
the french r is my favorite part of the language. it's so intimate.
I don't know why we even bothered to learn the genders. I can say like 3 sentences in german.
>phlegm
>intimate
Oh, I see lad.
there's no phlegm, it's just a phonological element that tons of languages on earth have
every word you say in french sounds like a beautiful secret
is actually right on that one.
Btw don't forget computer are male.
Headphones is male in German. Can't you even speak your own language?
In the Dutch language there is no logic behind it. You just have to learn it as part of the words you are learning.
>implying he's german
wew Fritz
>"a" vs "à"
Yeah, I have to admit, it's tricky.
Our "r" is just like in English, but just more pronounced. Well I guess it's as difficult as "th" to pronounce for me!
hon hon =/= hush hush
one "th" has the same relationship to the other that "v" does to "f" and "z" does to "s," if that helps
But I dont think Dutch people can tell the gender of words either.
>don't forget computer are male
What are you talking about? He don't even write computer in his comment?
Strong male headphones clasping my ears...
>ends with a = female
>ends with o = male
it's not that hard... at least for spanish
An American guy (on Sup Forums) told me that there are two different pronunciation for the English "th".
Is it true?
...
>moon
female
>chair
male
>sun
neuter
>headphones
plurals shouldn't have a gender desu
Yep. /ð/ as in the, though, there, and /θ/ as in thought, through, three.
Thank you very much, mate. I can hear it, clearly when you pronounce it. It help.
>An additional question : Are these two songs used equally in English, or one of them is common when the other is rare?
Yes, know I understand.
if you see "th", probably about 90% of the time youll pronounce as in /θ/, but theres no pattern to it, so you have to memorise it. incidentally, all times i used th here it makes a ð sound
You just have to learn two things, the gender and the noun. English for instance is harder because you have to learn a word plus its pronunciation.
>the moon is OBVIOUSLY a woman
Der Mond
>the chair is OBVIOUSLY a woman
Der Stuhl
>the sun is OBVIOUSLY a man
Die Sonne
>my headphones are OBVIOUSLY male
Die Kopfhörer (Plural) but der Hörer (Singular)
>end of the question
No
So, "man" is female nao?
>/θ/
/θ/
ok, I see.
>you have to memorise it
ok.
>incidentally, all times i used th here it makes a ð sound
Why ? Do you have an accent? Where are you from?
Man ends with A in Polish?
Mana? Tha's magic.
no, he means that every use of "th" in that post made a ð
Yes, and not only in Polish.
Sun can be masculine as well, but practically no one uses the word like that.
no, i mean all the words containing "th" in my last comment were pronounced as /ð/, though I am an american. though afaik in britbong english they pronounce it as /θ/ far more often, even in words like "the" in some parts.
Ok I get it. Well, I try but it's still 'so) hard to pronounce.
I'll train more.
>words' gender
So primitive shit m8
moon - male
chair - female
sun - neutral
headphones - female
It makes no sense. Every language has its own rules
>It makes no sense. Every language has its own rules
>this
>speaking a languege with gender structure
laughing at your pathetic lifes hahaha
It's the reason English lost the male and female genders. The Anglos despite having similar words to the Norse invaders had different genders.
Old english wasnt similiar to old norse
