This is incorrect. The truth is that Barnevernet do not elaborate publicly about the case and its content of evidence, and thus the public don't know about the evidence (lacking or not). Barnevernet is under guidelines to only take children when it's clear that the law is broken. How well they execute this is not something I know personally, but it makes a lot of sense that they would indeed execute it strictly by guidelines as they should - otherwise they would have too many cases with all too few resources to handle them. All the media attention Barnevernet has gotten is due to their lack of sharing information on these cases, resulting in a stew pot of wild accusations from offended parties and their supporters.
This last case, which has gotten most of the attention, is very weird and makes me think that the offended party is lying, and here's why:
The offended party claims Barnevernet took their children "only because" they were christians. They claim that because Norway is an "atheistic" country, Norway will strike down on those who bring up their children as christians.
However, this is clearly a lie made up by someone who didn't do their homework beforehand. Christianity is not seen as "bad" in Norway, and it's by no means illegal to bring up a child as christian (we even have christian schools and kindergartens in Norway - all fully legal).
No, I believe that the parents are guilty of some kind of abuse. Why would they make up a lie if they had not done anything wrong? If they indeed think that they are in the right, then they would simply speak out the truth about their actions, rather than lie and make up a fake story - right? Right? But they didn't. They made up a lie. Why? Probably because the truth would hurt them (i.e. the media would know that they are guilty of whatever they did).
