Mostly emulators and stupid stuff. The few AAA or AA titles on Steam that are worth playing are also wrappers to their Windows executables. GOG does this too; games you'd think are Linux native are actually Wine wrapped. Very few native cross platform games. Outside the free arena shooters and such.

I would really really really love to use Linux full time but the game performance there just sucks ass for my GTX 970 meme GPU.

Actually very few games commercially use a wrapper such as Wine around a Windows executable.
Of all the Linux games I own (350+) the only one that does that I can think of is Planescape Torment on GOG.
You must be confusing that technique with C# / Mono / FNA games which use a .exe but don't really work like that, or with libraries such as Feral's IndirectX.
But that's pretty different.
