Now that i see this nigger HDD stealing shit, i have been thinking for a while about if it's factible to make a killing HDD/SDD in the same way there're those USB killers.
My idea is a fake disk with high voltage capacitors inside (100v or something) which charges when connected to the PSU, after some seconds it release the full charge thru the sata and the psu cable, ¿it's viable to do something like that or too much of a hassle?

To be clear, I'm suggesting that a thermite charge be included in addition to your capacitor/killer HDD concept. Since you can't fully predict how the HDD will be connected (external enclosure, on the table next to a system, actually inside the computer case, etc.), a small thermite fire will just add some fireworks to the excitement.
So, not that I know how to do it at his exact moment, a theoretical approach would be to somehow draw a fuckton of current from the PSU and pass it out through the data cable into the mobo. If you try to short it or send charge to the PSU, circuit breakers will probably trip too rapidly to do serious damage, or maybe just cook the PSU.
But, if you can send a quick hard blast of current out the data cable, you should be able to wreck some havok on the mobo ... or, at least the circuitry of the external enclosure they might be using to connect by USB or somesuch.
Having the HDD then ignite in a thermite fire should be some top tier excitement ... especially when they discover how much fun it is to try and extinguish a thermite fire. Kind of makes me wonder what electronics would best explode under such conditions. Perhaps if there's enough room to include a couple AA alkaline batteries? Or, even a C-cell or two? If you've never seen one of those explode, you haven't been standing next to a quarter stick when it goes off.
