Why do the makers of open source software have such poor aesthetic intelligence?

Why do the makers of open source software have such poor aesthetic intelligence?

>Refresh
>Instead of designing something to not require a refresh command they copy windows exactly and include a fucking refresh command
JFC...

Somebody explain what's going on

t. arts major

Don't worry, you won't use that OS in your mac

Why are the people with good aesthetic "intelligence" too dumb to contribute to open source software?

yeah guys why open source is fucking shit
pic related GNOME 3.30 first alpha
nothing will satisfy you anyway, if an OS that is developed by billionare company for more than 30 years looks like this i think every single person on this world is aesthetic retard

Haha, I know exactly what you mean OP.
It's a shame open source developers will never have billions of dollars to invest in their software to be able to achieve pic related.

Each of those menus provides a clean, intuitive UI paradigm while indicating the element being acted on through a unique but thematically unified style.

Maybe you should stick to tinkering with your "colonel" and let the adults work on advancing the industry.

whats the point of that fucking picture?

Because those people are what we call employed.

>Windows on top
>React OS on the bottom
>OP is implying that the bottom one is shit
Better?

>what is design consistency

Still no comprendo
I feel the same

But that looks perfect

>nothing will satisfy you anyway
wrong

>umut omer
Shoo shoo roachie.

>muh design principles
There's no universal principle.

You've got a point, there.

Geeks and nerds dedicate all their time to only one skill. They "code" or "hack", "for fun", in the basement of their parents' home. Tendency to think already highly of themselves prevents them from getting into other areas of interest that could enrich their skill portfolio.

On the other side, those who devote themselves to developing a complex set of complementary skills including social ones and charismatic personality usually get hired by companies like Google and work on their products.

When there is a bright mind in open source that comes up with their own product that is objectively very good and ahead of their time they get dragged down like a crab in a crab bucket by the freetards that have already been cooking for years in that autist juice.

Shut up Will.

There, much better.
Had to move almost all text because they were all unaligned, some were two pixels off, some one pixel off and some even three pixels off.

ReactOS a total mess.

uninformed cancerous post-modernist detected

holy shit that image is ancient

Let me give you a quick rundown of the latest version

1: The first two UI elements now look the exact same
2: The third, fourth and fifth elements now look exactly the same
3: The sixth one looks just like it does in the picture.

So we've gone from 6 different UI elements to 3 (well, 2 really. The ones listed under 1 and 2 in my list look really similar now, apart from the background color).

GNOME looks good

here's my half assed edit
excuse my high DPI setting

shit shit better
better better best

engineers aren't designers
engineers who do it in their free time can't pay for designers
designers aren't attracted to engineer toy projects
now that linux is getting popular more designers are using it, so the biggest projects are finally starting to look good
the evidence for this are the projects that aren't so big. they still look like asshole

it's a simple logical equation that even less than an hour of thought in a well-balanced mind could lead to a solution

all these memekiddie replies in this thread. disgusting

The space to the right of "Arrange Icons By >" is smaller; the ReactOS implementation makes it look cramped. More fundamentally, the spacing isn't implemented consistently - or in other words, the UI lacks polish.

At least that seems to be what OP is insinuating

Oh well.
Didn't except much of UI polish from alpha to be honest.

>telnet

McDonald's doesn't count

That style isn't unique and at best is two competing stylistic families, metro and classic windows

They've got bigger fish to fry than making a 1:1 copy of the UI right now
