G-sync deals has a lower minimum framerate than what freesync has but if you are buying an expensive as fuck monitor, you're probably buying a video card that wouldn't even dip that low anyways.

Not exactly free, it probably has a slight overhead cost for adding some small bits of hardware and making sure it complies with VESA Adaptive Sync specifications. G-Sync is an entirely separate circuit board + licensing fees.

No sensible person would use HDMI for a PC unless it was the only port that their monitor comes with. Also, freesync is just AMD's marketing rebrand of the VESA Adaptive Sync specifications. So, in a way, HDMI 2.1 natively supports adaptive frame rate in the same way DP 1.4 natively supports adaptive sync.

Nothing, really. Nvidia are a bunch of jews since their cards can do VESA adaptive sync, they just don't want to implement it. You're pretty much stuck with having to use GSync if you really want that adaptive sync.

There are only two kinds of adaptive refresh rate cap: the refresh rate of the monitor and the absolute lowest framerate that it can dip to. If you buying an overpriced G-Sync monitor, you probably aren't buying a video card that will never go that low.
On the display side, that adaptive-sync chip is an optional feature of DP-capable displays according to the VESA specifications. FreeSync is the video card implementation that allows video games to utilize the VESA specification.

You do know that FreeSync is fucking royalty free in the first place, right? I'm pretty fucking sure there's minimal, if none at all, profiteering involved. Also, FreeSync is 100% compliant with VESA specifications. Meanwhile the technology required to make graphics card running video games compliant with the VESA specifications isn't made by VESA themselves because VESA couldn't give less of a shit about graphics cards and video games. FreeSync is more about making sure Video Games can talk with VESA adaptive sync.

If you plan to play in 2160p no. Especially if you are on low FPS. I survived with a 780Ti/1060 3G more than a year and it helped a lot. 45+ FPS look smoother, everything above 50 FPS doesn't make a difference anymore.
Note a 1080Ti does only get 40 FPS in 2160p if you play the newest titles with max details.

the purpose of freesync and gsync works identical
what differs though is the requirements nvidia makes for gsync approval. which is a higher quality scaler you pay extra so you have a larger sync range

the Asus MG279Q for example uses the same panel as Eizo Foris FS2735. but use inhouse software and scaler
the eizo manages to natively have a freesync range from 35 to 144hz while the asus covers "only" 60 to 144
This. The only difference is a proprietary module. Some hackers once found out Gsync does work without one, with a hacked driver. It should be known that laptops doesn't use a module, but they also use eDP.
