Baby boomers are getting retired their jobs nowadays, so employment situation is not bad when we consider of the current economical situation of Japan.
Working hours per week is so different from what job you are in charge of. But in common, you need to work from 9am to 5am, and additional few hours. In my case, I don't need to do overwork, sadly..

I don't have any experience to work in another company, so I'm talking about my company. Working overtime isn't considered a good thing by employer, because company needs to pay extra wage to you. You are regarded great when you did something great to your company. Working time isn't important.

Honestly, I'm not satisfied with my current wage, so my wife needs to do part-time job.
