HOW ARE YOUR 3.5 DOING?
There's already a shitty thread for this >Essentially, this may allow you to bypass some artificial overclocking limitation with your graphics card, probably by increased voltages on different power states of the card.
So basically, you're just putting your hardware at risk of exploding by flashing a different BIOS and pushing it beyond it's limits. It's fucking nothing.
You do know these cards are exactly the same silicon, right?
Is this what Sup Forums has become?
AYYMD REBRANDEON HOUSEFIRES
3.5 Gigabytes.
>You do know these cards are exactly the same silicon, right?
They're not though. They moved from LPE with the 400 series to LPP. It's the same chip, but with a slightly better process that helps it hit higher clocks, i.e. the exact same thing that Intel did with Kaby Lake. And the end result in both cases was something that clocks higher, but also consumes way more power.
>patiently waiting by the mailbox for your $30 nVidiabucks class action lawsuit payout.
nVidiacucks, not even once.
I remember when I did this on G92 8800GT to 9800GT.
Good times, make sure you sell them quick and make some money.
chip is the same
LPP>LPE though
they did stepping on 480s already
they should've called them rx485 as first planned to avoid this bullshit
Can the 470 do the same?
DELETE THIS!!!!!!!!!!
>rebrandeon
...
>muh 770
Not the same shit because at least 680 =/= 780. AMD rebrand ALL the 5xx lineup
Except the entire GTX 700 series was rebrands. Only the 780 and 780ti were new. Exact same strategy as AMD is doing now. Exact same strategy as Nvidia is going to pull in 6-12 months with the GTX 2000 series.
This this this
and? you can apply same logic to Vega=/=Fury
inb4, hurr not even released yet. Just waitâ„¢
Youre wrong. There is new 550 card and 560 which is improved version of 460 with enabled components which 460 lacked.
I bet you can't flash a 3.5 to 4 :^)
yeah its a rebrand with increased performance for lower cost? so what?
>implying I ever fell for the 3.5 memecard
I'm not poor, buddy.
underrated
>amd
nice save there, user.
Rx 580 is probably higher binned
nop, only if your PCB have more VRM
Does it support at least GDDR5X?
It's the same fucking card
They improved the manufacturing of the 14nm proccess so they could acheive higher clocks, it is a rebrand, there were no ulterations to the chip. i don't understand the shit strom, on some of the slides it even says polaris refined
How's them Hawaii driver updates? (They're shit)
Same exact die, 60% of the cards are pure rebrands, the other 40% for new PCBs with better VRM (essentially just rev 1.1 PCBs) some got beefier coolers.
There is no reference 570/580.
It's a reasonable card still against the 1060, but why wouldn't you just buy a 1070?
This is literally what the case was with the 6950, you could trivially make it a 6970.
Usually they put crappier heatsinks and stuff on since it doesn't need the same thermal ability
Because of the price difference?
the 1070 is at its cheapest is $360 with the 580 being around $220
It's possible the Rebrand is so they could have a "new" low-mid range to complement Vega Mid-high range.
And to milk polaris for a little longer
...
The better version
Posting the first version then the second better one is the proper way to do it.
Why did they even bother making these series cards if everyone is pissing their pants over vega anyway
A year before RX 480 is launched with a controversy about energy consumption.
RTG put money, effort and time to solve the problem.
A year later the same RX 480 is being sold with a new bios that undone that work making the card use even more energy.
What we do with Radeon Technology Groupw
11xx series
Teach them how to use the loo.
any benchmarks for this?
vs. stock 480
I'm no amd fanboy, but is this so terrible? The 500 series costs the same or less than the 400 series, and AMD isn't marketing this as a huge step up over the 400 series. They're marketing it as what it is, a slight improvement.
And Nvidia is rumored to do the same thing with Pascal before Volta... wccftech.com
Undervolted 580 consumes 140W tops maintaining stock boost frequencies.
>prices have gone up on amazon for the 480
fucks sake
a xfx rx480 rs when they came out with it
the card is good now im wondering if i should flash the 580 bios and then in the future buy another 580 and run them in crossfire ... amd had always the cards where you can do retarded crazy shit before had a 6950 flashed to a 6970 and oc'd it a good portion
I don't have a 970.
I have a 290X and I'm buttflustered about the absolute shit drivers since June last year.
16.6.1 was the best driver, everything since then has lost performance across the board.
Everything since 16.11.5 has been unusable trash...
Hawaii isn't the only die having problems, (Pitcairn, Cape Verde and Bonarie too) But I own one and I'm fucking mad.
No, you're wrong, Nvidia is the only one who gimps cards
Sooooo... why the card comes with such a high voltage is not necessary to properly work?
It's how AMD works compared to Nvidia. You undervolt it instead of the other way around.
> everything since then has lost performance across the board.
> Everything since 16.11.5 has been unusable trash...
Not always true, I had to update my drivers to get +20FPS in Forza Horizon 3.

the only absolute shitshow is not being able to access additional settings without some stupid workaround
