If anyone is going to use Windows, it should be LTSB at least. They should have made windows for desktop all LTSB. Keep all the other annoying shit for laptops / mobile... It's not needed for workstation shit.

I have it on my desktop and on my T420 along with Fedora. Aside from the UI being inconsistent, I don't mind it.
I prefer Windows Server 2016 + The GUI + DirectX

Yup, I have LTSB on my laptop. My other two computers are staying Win7 for the time being though. Maybe when I upgrade my desktop processor I'll switch that over to LTSB.

I agree, but if you trust Microsoft in terms of "10 years of support" you're a fool. They've already basically cut Win7 support early since they're not supporting any new hardware and actively cripple the OS if you try to install it on new chipsets.

you're right on this, and they already confirmed they will be doing it to windows 10 too. What I mean is I can basically use this laptop until it breaks down without worry about OS expiring.

Installing windows 7 on current laptops is a bitch because the installer doesn't support USB3 so you either need to path it with the drivers, or copy the win7 install file into a win10 install USB

Yep, IT at my company is pissed because we're still on Win7 and they can't get order any laptops newer than Skylake. We're moving to Win10 LTSB this year though (and I anticipate that to be a complete and utter shitshow of massive proportions).

windows 10 LTSB is basically windows 7 with a different start menu + a second control panel for tablets called settings (the old one is also there).
LTSB is actually good, as evidenced by microsoft going out of their way in multiple press releases to tell people not to use it at all. They even backpaddeled on it being for companies wanting more stability, now saying "it's only for devices on absolute lockdown like atms, medical equipment etc"
what it really is is just windows 10 without any of the bloat. no store, no cortana, no xbox, no edge, no native calendar or mail apps. It doesn't even come with windows media player or image viewer.

Just took the normal enterprise version - followed official Microsoft guide to stop communication with Microsoft for the enterprise version - then closed all the services and blocked as much shit I could - sure it will still phone home but not as much as it did, and If Microsoft told corporations they can shut down communication with Microsoft if they follow the steps - in case they lied they could just get sued or something and that didn't happen yet, even pentagon uses windows 10 with group policies to shut it down and other tweaks suggested officially by Microsoft.

The dazloader upgrade method literally gives you legit windows with no need to use 3rd party kms emulators. I don't see the point in denying that LTSB is not as much as a botnet as the other SKU's and the bloat can be removed with powershell scripts.

LTSB is mpore than a crippled Enterprise. Using something like MSMG Toolkit on Enterprise CBB will result in a crippled Enterprise, but not LTSB. It's not that much better in terms of privac, but it's a lot better than any CBB build.
