so was this posted on the 1st and no one noticed?
...
the press release is dated 4/20
maybe 4/20 has become a natural extension of the 1st
Does this do my taxes for me?
here's mine
how much does this actually cost?
>nonscientific calculator
this WSJ article from 2015 (!!!) says it would cost $220
so the calculator was delayed i guess
$220
do rich people actually use pocket calculators?
>no eink display
>no LiFePO4 flat cell rechargeable battery
>no large solar cell to charge
Why even make a fucking calculator that doesn't have these functions?
>2017
>Dedicated calculator.
Guck off
is this an ad?
Double color keys
Cool beans
This actually looks like a nice present for an accountant or something.
Nice but not nice enough, seeAlso no scientific version
My HP's are still better despite not being as luxurious
>(some keys excepted)
kek
>*some keys excepted
>spending $220 on a non-graphing calculator
>$year
>literally better in every way.
>Literally better in every way.
^
Or just any smart phone in general
Look. What 's the matter? Can't you afford it? Is it because you are poor?
Poor people buy garbage like this to feel rich.
My 20 year old Sharp doesn't have this problem.
>overdrawn
How the fuck does this happen? I have 13k in the bank and no debts and I've been out of college for under a year.
My dad is a multi millionaire and he does all his calculations on a 25 year old Casio pocket calculator.
Too bad the TI cx cas lags like hell
Poor people buy expensive garbage.
I'm overdrawn right now because I had to shift twice in two years for work and that fucking eats month.
But at least I won't have to buy as much stuff this year so getting back in the black will be easy enough.
Me too but that doesn't explain how people with jobs have negative money. Are people so fucking brainwashed that they just buy useless shit until their magic plastic cards don't work anymore?
>just buy useless shit until their magic plastic cards don't work anymore?
Isn't that what they are for?
Looks nice imo. But I don't really use calculators that much. Also I would have preferred a better display for that kind of cash, something like 800x100 retroiluminated e-ink would be god tier.
HP39GS MASTER RACE
>2017
>Calculator thats not an app.
Fucking why.
this is the only scientific calculator worth buying.
>that price
>that large display with fractional result
>thin and portable
>just the right amount of functions
the perfect package to justify using instead of your graphing calculator for most tasks.
prove me wrong
Why would I want a numpad with a screen that doesn't plug into my computer?
If accountants are stupid enough to be scammed with that, good for Casio.
Meanwhile, I'll keep using this wonderful piece of technology for a fraction of that shit.
>What is graphing?
>What is CAS?
>What is calculus
Does it even handle matrices and imaginary numbers?
oh shit I posted the wrong image
I accidentally posted the trash version
You're all autists. Just buy a $5 app ffs
fine and all outside of school but profs don't tend to appreciate you looking at your phone....
Because you're totally allowed to use your smartphone during an exam amirite
also, I have never seen a good for pay app. The best I have seen is Wabbit, and that's free. and just a TI emulator.
...
did your even read what i said retard
obviously i have a grading ti as well
Ok I did miss some of your second to last line
When I have to not use my nspire I go for the TI-36 pro
Kinda limited by what I am allowed to use on some exams
Used to try the cassio fx115 but that was kinda trash. I hated the way it recalled values.
This is better. The only problem is the glossy finish: I've never seen such a big fingerprints magnet in my life, but functionality wise it's a terrific calculator.
>app
There's a reason why in this day and age, where everyone has a smartphone, calculators still exist: you NEED a wide physical keyboard to operate it properly.
Not really
calculators still exists because you can bring them to tests, while you can't bring smartphones
>$220 for something my phone does for free
Not even Texas Instruments would fuck people like this for a non-scientific calculator. Who is this even aimed at, babyboomers?
im a gay mge csgo player
KYS
What exam you think you are gonna pass with a calculator that doesn't even have trig functions on it? Middle school math maybe.
Nothing wrong with being gay but a gaymer is unacceptable. I bet you get no dick.
Seriously. When the nice lady at the bank offered me a debt limit of 500 polands I just said "no, I don't want to ever have negative funds for any reason ever" and so I don't
What is it even with you Americans. 2017 and you guys are barely getting chips in your cards but still have to sign shit like it's the 1930s.I swear by the time you guys get NFC in your cards we'll have done away with money altogether and bring communism and joy to all
?
i have one
it's a little memey but i like it
that pic is beautiful
Personally I once downloaded many scientific calculators apps, even a TI-86 emulator. They worked, but usability was terrible: I was way quicker with my $25 Sharp.
I remember when that stupid fucking calculator app Google made told me dividing by 0 equaled infinity
Please don't spend $200+ on something that your phone makes completely obsolete.
Looks nice, but no extra features over my hp officecalc
That app clearly has trig functions.
Idiots buy nintendo 3ds' still.
Makes sense.
>1990+27
>doesn't use databank
SHIGGY THE DIGGY
maybe we'd have proper apps if smartphones were allowed
I mean, then it'd make sense to make and sell an app like that
I'm quite glad about it being like it is, calculators are a lot more comfortable to use with their physical keys
>Brainlet detected
>exams require calculator so its not like I'd never need it
>calculator is comfy
so why not use it even after no need for exams
>gift to a special person
So it's for autists?
I keep seing people using this word. Wtf does it mean?
People who ask about expensive calculators don't understand how much your calculator means to you in fields like engineering and accounting.
I'm studying Aerospace and I can tell you my TI89 is the best school related purchase I have ever made. It factors, it solves equations and systems of equations, it derives, it integrates, it does so many things that make my life 1000X easier.
I also know accountants who fly through numbers on their calculators and often times the calculator can't keep up.
If you're an accountant, I can see you buying this calculator. I'm sure it's ubsurdely fast and they keys must feel nice and give a solid press. High quality keys and metal construction add to longevity and the huge rubber pad on the bottom assures it won't slide at all on a desk.
If it makes you work fast, it'll probably pay itself off in anywhere from a few days to a few months.
You have to compare it to a mechanical keyboard. Most people don't need one and won't enjoy the little things that make it better for people who use a keyboard at its extremes every day. The same thing goes for this calculator. It's made for someone who plugs large numbers all day long and needs everything to be PERFECT, because even something like a wobbly key cap could mean a missed number who could be huge implications.
Don't know a lot about eINK displays, but with the ones I have used, they seem like they have pretty slow refresh rates. I don't know if it could keep up with calculations like that.
Why pay out the ass for these hugely over priced things when your phone does the same thing for free?
>inb4 some bullshit excuse like MUH FEELS
I need something that works EXACTLY like my calculator.
Nothing exists for smartphones.
>can buy 2 TI-84 with that price
I can only imagine PhD mathematicians or physicists with more money than they can spend buying this.
Physical feedback. Better ergonomics.
The one I use
You're just making calculations, dude. It's not like you're playing a video game or something.
Eh My Ti-84 has been wtih me for almost a decade not changing.
in the USA you are not allowed to use 89's/92's for really anything educationally because of their full keyboard which classifies it at a pocket computer (92) and because it can do indefinite integration and differentiation (89).
the most expensive calculator you can take with you on the FE and PE examinations is all of 16 USD, a ti-36.
I've been using an HP 32Sii for the last 15 years or so, but again, it was not allowed on the FE or PE. I have an 89, but for about 90% of what i use a calculator for its just slow and the buttons have a lot of deadspace and chatter leading to lots of missed keystrokes unless you are pounding them down much harder than you should.
Try calculating spacecraft's dynamics and orbital maneuvers: a proper calculator is pretty much the best thing to use, smartphone can't compete.
Funny thing is that those same calculations are valid both for playing KSP, and for preparing and passing the Orbital Mechanics exam at any aerospace engineering course.
Jesus, just get a TI-89, it costs the same and is ten thousand times more useful.
what the fuck is wrong with you?
>tfw Barbra didn't invite you out for lunch
I used my TI89 on the ACT, and every single engineering test I've take in my three years so far in college. The only classes I haven't been allowed to use it in, were calculus and econ classes. I'm in the US.
Mine has been running for 7 years with no issues. I have never encountered a dead space and the only time it's been slow is when it's solving something with imaginary solutions or advanced trig.
Also the professional engineering exam isn't even a concern of mine because from what I've heard, it's much more conceptual and not based on solving complex problems, which you shouldn't need an 89 for.
I wasted so much time in math class playing Doom and Nintendo games on this
That shit is trash. You can't even turn off Insert to edit your query
Where I live, you can use CAS stuff and everything in pretty much all major school-related things (past elementary school) since they've been allowed in the matriculation examination since 2012 or something.
There are like some entrance examinations to some uni-level schools (like med school) where you're allowed only a really basic calculator, but nothing else as far as I know.
it depends on your field I suppose.
the FE and PE are both around 80/20 split between calculations and concepts, with a few calculations that could be done via inspection at least for my field.
Ill be honest I have no clue what calculator I used on the ACT or SAT, the sat was still 1600 points total then. Which places taking that at or before 2005. I most likely used a cheap pocket calculator/4function.
District wide policies prevented the use of the 89 in most classes, 92 is banned nation wide on all standardized testing.
Professors at my colleges would also kick you out mid-test if you were not in compliance with the calculator policies that they set forth, which is pretty much "needs to be a simple function or FE/PE approved calculator".
Many will have student/graduate accounts which have 0% overdrafts.
The rest are retarded.
However, it's not exactly expensive to buy a first gen iPhone.
>Not just sticking it in Matlab/Octave/Speedcrunch
damn i love the look of the 950. just wish windows phone wasnt shit
Bought one of these for uni and I have never used it all manual computations. Pretty comfy desu
