Good CPU + Motherboard Combo

Hey Sup Forumsentoo men what's a good CPU and motherboard for gaming and rendering. I want to upgrade from my 4-year-old i5.

Depends on your budget, but the i5 6600k or 7600k will give the best performance in the mid-range because they overclock well. The 1600x is also a good option within that price range if you want to go AMD. Go with the z170 or z270 mobo chipset for Intel, or the x370 for AMD.
