Wow so hard dumb frogposter

>calling him dumb
>portrait clearly shows he has down syndrome
fag

Sorry sir

>try out mpv
>this happens
lol

Stop picking on autistic people, you know they're going to respond to your bait!

What bait? MPV is a joke, coded by amateurs, and it shows in terms of performance, which is crap compared to other players. Even WMP is a lot better.

>Devs don't design GUI and blame users

Oh this thread again. Well at least it's not as bad as using secret codes in cheat code terminal window.

vlc does that too btw. Lots of useful shit has no gui.
>users fault

are you me rn or did we both come from the same thread

You sure are fucking retarded. mpv is clearly using software decoding.

VLC and MPV are using DXVA2 copy-back. MPC-HC uses Cuda.
Oh, and the CPU is a 3770k @4GHz. My GPU at that time was a 780ti

That doesn't say anything at all about how the video was actually decoded in mpv.

Use SMPlayer

smplayer.info/

hwdec=dxva2-copy
vo=direct3d

Get over it, your player is a piece of trash.

My mpv is using around 1% cpu, so I don't know what you're doing wrong.

>using autism player
download VLC you heretic

Use your system mixer. wontfix.

>Use your system mixer
no mixer hhelp

Wait you use volume sliders? I don't even use mpv and I never touch in player volume. I always use system volume.

>btw I'm a girl

ha macfriend. you can try sometihng like github.com/kyleneideck/BackgroundMusic
unix philosophy

MOUSE_BTN3 add volume 2
MOUSE_BTN4 add volume -2
Put this in input.conf and change volume with mouse wheel.
Or hover mouse over volume icon and scroll, should work too without the input.conf

>no repeat

yeah fuck mpv

>Not using the best media player with best codecs

>autism player needs conf files edited for basic functionality

I feel like I'm using Windows XP and is 2005 all over again.

MPC-HC + Icaros Thumbnail = Winning

Why are you being so mean again?

You literally have to compile a script to change the volume or open a file
You can't make this shit up

It's autism personified

potplayer 5.1 Just the best

>>try out mpv
>>no volume slider

> Try out SMPlayer
> Find out it uses mpv video on the back end, but with really nice traditional skin, and is full featured with a lot of configurability.
> Find out you can even change the back end if you want.

if MPV had a minimal volume slider and a seek bar, i would so use it over mpc-hc

freetards are too stubborn tho

It's convenient to have a mouse interface. My HTPC is set up so that I can do everything with the mouse only, so I never have to drag out the keyboard.

Seriously, do you guys have utterly no imagination whatsoever about potential use cases?

>but with really nice traditional skin
this is the key thing that is confusing windows users

mpv comes from a different tradition, mpv's codebase comes from mplayer, which wasn't originally designed for windows or its' audience

most windows media players follow the design of microsoft windows media player, such as mpc-hc being basically a clone of the wmp 6.4 interface

mplayer (and to a similar extent, mpv) aims to be highly portable, and key-driven (non-pointer), and so uses no gui toolkits, opting for a TV-like OSD instead, and interaction is done with keybinds instead of visual buttons/sliders/menus

blaming mpv for being nothing like most windows media players is missing the point completely, it has never aimed for it

>freetards defending bad design

Does it still nag you to upvote their facebook page?

?

(you)

never talk to me or my son again

i just don't want mpv to end up as another wmp clone, i like the way mplayer works
i switched to mplayer before i switched to linux

mpv always gets BTFO

...

>meme player Sup Forums

how big is the VLC documentation?
it's a bit hard to check side-by-side as VLC has an entire wiki for their docs

>No ring

Confess user. You copy the console vs PC?

...

>720p

t. poorfag

and they claim it's a Windows only feature even though Mac media players use the same UI's.

??

Except there is a volume slider you stupid nigger

I love mpv, I just wish it had a better interface built in.

>seek bar can only seek in huge arbitrary increments, sometimes in 5 second chunks for a 10 second video.
bomi (fork of mpv) has a great seek bar that lets you scrub through each frame. but it's an unstable piece of trash.
>no debug OSD with stuff like resolution, bitrate, framerate, etc.
Thank god there is a pretty plugin for that.
>no right click menu with basics like Open File or Quit
>no playlist menu, because navigating a playlist with hundreds of items is a pain

you can seek frames with , and .
you can also customize the number of seconds when seeking

>you can seek frames with , and .
I know, this is completely unrelated.
>you can also customize the number of seconds when seeking
It does not work 100% of the time. Seek intervals are very inconsistent in my experience.

Anime is rendered in 720p you fucking retard.

>I know, this is completely unrelated.
>bomi (fork of mpv) has a great seek bar that lets you scrub through each frame
?

>It does not work 100% of the time. Seek intervals are very inconsistent in my experience.
Works here.
RIGHT osd-msg-bar seek +1 relative+keyframes
LEFT osd-msg-bar seek -1 relative+keyframes
ctrl+RIGHT osd-msg-bar seek +1 relative+exact
ctrl+LEFT osd-msg-bar seek -1 relative+exact

Actually it does now.

but I didn't watch anime...

Can't you read? I don't want keyboard shortcuts, I use those already when they are convenient. I want a seek bar that has enough precision to let me scrub through frames if I want to.

>no right click menu with basics like Open File or Quit
"using a keyboard is hard, being able to right click and select quit in a menu is an essential feature"

you sound like a retard honestly

You can't imagine a situation when using a mouse would be easier than reaching for the keyboard, yet you call me a retard.

Pro tip: the situation I'm talking about involves me having one hand in my pants. But this isn't the only such situation, which is why I listed it.

TITS AND GTFO

>Feeding (You)s to a literal attention whore
God damn what the fuck has happened to this website.

>what is gnome-mpv

Starting from 0.25 they added volume icon in osc, and you can change volume in steps of 5 by scrolling wheel while mouseover that icon and mute/unmute clicking on it, but I really don't think op wanna answer as much as drama/shitpost.

I'm ok with this if it prevents retards such as yourself from using it.

I've been looking for a guide to setup mpv on my homeserver and stream music, but so far I came up empty, any anons that could point me in the right direction?

You mean you want to use mpv as a server?

...

Yeah, I have been looking for some guides on how to set it up properly and be able to stream easily

>try every video player Sup Forums suggests
>no speed slider (that isn't buried in settings)
>no way to put speed slider on main GUI
>go back to VLC

>Or scroll sideways

what the fuck, do I turn my mouse sideways and scroll up/down horizontally?

... mpv is a client, it can't be a server.

What exactly do you want? An internet radio? Self-hosted Spotify? Just a web directory with .mp3 files?

Pretty much, self-hosted spotify and/or a web directory with .mp3/.flacs

Are you confusing mpv with mpd?
If that's the case, then I'll have to also tell you that mpd is also not what you're looking for.

You need something like Ampache: ampache.org

>.flacs
Heck yeah!

Would it not be easier to have your HTPC set up using a remote, which could then be set up to use keyboard shortcuts instead of having to move your mouse all over the place? Why do you think android boxes and the apple tv come with remotes instead of mice?
