>Is quartz watch more accurate than automatic watches
a quartz on the bad end of average is much better than a mechanical on the higher end of average. Quartz is an objectively superior technology, like CRT. The reason people use other things is the same: they're stupid and susceptible to marketing

First for Daini Seikosha

>oops, looks like everyone wont be able to see my faggotry, better post it again in the next thread

(You)

>irony
>plastic
are you even trying?

>maybe some nice metallic indices
Look into SARB

my mistake, didn't realize that was an actual product line, thought you were shitposting

anywa, unless I'm mistaken, they all seem to be huge and use mineral glass for ~$150, not a particularly good value or really the style I'm looking for

>get internship at ex lange&ex patek guy's workshop
>become batterymonkey

>unless I'm mistaken
You are mistaken, but specifications are not the problem, you just don't like the watches

anyone here familiar with ETA 2824-2

Gotta start somewhere. Gratz.

>new thread made by a tripfag

Yeah I'm gonna sit this one out.

hey that's cool, at least you will see some nice watches and learn shit

everyone is

how accurate can be ?

as accurate as any mechashit, which is to say, not very

...

Are there any good one handed watches other than Meistersinger and Luch?

Is this a good deal for $400?

where did you get the strap?
I can only find straps where the grey is replaced with green

(You)

if you consider jump hour watches with only a minute hand, you have a few more options. chris ward does one, even though the brand is shit

>buy any 3-hander
>remove 2 hands

It's fair. Condition looks good but it's not a linen dial so ~$400 is about market rate. Be aware the 5740C does not back, but is otherwise probably Suwa Seikosha's best movement design.

...

>accuracy is a matter of opinion
Things mechashit fanbois believe

What strap should I get for my Copernic?
I bought it a few years ago and it's been in a draw ever since and I want to start wearing it

Cross posting
I got a small 4 oz tub of it off Amazon for $10.

I left it sitting in the oil face down back off for several hours, then cased it while submerged.

Thanks, running it wasn't even for this watch. Just happened to look great on it.

>Be aware the 5740C does not back

You mean doesn't turn back like the 6R15?

>a linen dial

Is it the one with arabic numerals?

please see

(You)

he probably meant hack, not back. a hacking movement means the seconds hand stop setting the time.
also linen is a type of cloth, the texture of some dials looks like linen.

There's a kickstarter by Werenbach for watches made from spent rocket stages:

kickstarter.com/projects/rocketwatch/watches-built-from-spaceborne-rockets

I'm slightly torn on getting one. The watch itself seems pretty cool but I've been burned by kickstarters not delivering before.

Yeah, what said. I meant it doesn't hack, as in the second hand does not stop when you pull out the crown to set the time.

The Lord Marvel hi-beat was made with plain silver dials and with linen textured dials like pic related (ignore the Arabic numerals, as both dial variants were made with both batons and arabic numerals). The linen dialed versions typically sell for quite a bit more money than the plain dial versions.

they look really generic though.

It's pretty cool, but at the same time there isn't anything really "wow" about it apart from the dial

EBay. You need to go to the ones with multiple selections to find it.

This chart will answer 99% of the questions you have.

Please keep your posts on topic.

Best,

Gibs

No, they're called memeanical.

Daini is love, Daini is life

10 days since last sync and running 5 seconds slow. God Bless the 52 caliber.

Its all inferior to digital. The only reason to wear any other kind of watch is nostalgia or as a fashion accessory. People who actually need watches such as divers on oil rigs will always choose quartz. Modern pilots only wear digital watches.
>stop pointing out the inherent disadvantages in what I like!

>le watches can be ranked reliably by brand meme

What would He wear, Sup Forums?

(You)

...

>tfw linen dial for under $400 Canadabux

5740C is pretty great, mine is extremely inaccurate though. Had it serviced just over a year ago and it's losing a minute a day. I suspect it's magnetized courtesy of my girlfriend's induction cooktop.

Damn straight. Finally got my blue dialed LM Special all sorted out now as well.

Curvex finally came. Looks pretty good imo.

I've had a look but I'll keep looking
can you post a link to the one you bought?

> shitting on Stowa and Steinhart

for what purpose

>(((Stein)))hart

im pretty sure it's the "berg" that comes after "stein" that denotes the name is Jewish since stein is a German word afaik

Because they're Chinkshit cased ETA shitters.

It's German cases with ETA movements tho

nice

>It's German cases
lmao
keep believing what the stowa owner tells you then
came out that he was jewing everyone by getting them made in china and maybe "finished" in germany, and that may not even have happened

caused a big stink up on his official WUS forums where he refused to confirm nor deny anything, pretty much admitting everything people suspected
he subsequently threw a shitfit and never returned

pathetic junk

Firstly, we're talking about Steinhart.

Source on Stowa being Chinese cases?

wrong

Great, you will rock that while playing at your local bingo place with other grannies.

Bingo isnt fun, and whether you like it or not, it technically is a men's watch. You have plen tastes btw.

Archimede's cases are made by Ickler, the finish is superb.

archimede>stowa>steinhart

lol retard

Looks like a woman's watch. I hope you're a faggot.

>but specifications are not the problem, you just don't like the watches
but specs are exactly the problem

Are you seriously so ass blasted that you're replaying to that faggot in a dead thread?

Looks like an amateurish redial job done 40 years ago

Good thing your opinion doesnt matter

Just did a search, threads about it on WUS where Jörg himself refuses to say where the cases are from, but that 80% of the value (commonly defined as the sales price) is created in Germany.

It's a fair guess that most parts are imported, and only the finishing and assembly is done in Germany. Sad.

weak thread. post wrist shots

u boat. thats one trash watch brand

If they put a 2892A2 chronometer in there, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

my grandma would like to trade you her bvlgari for that. very nice user

It's funny how the wrist hugging, square case thing was such a meme back in the day.
Seems like every fucking watch, say, hamilton made back then was rectangular.

Shit their lauded 770 movement, the "greatest american made movement ever" was made to fit squarish cases.

And yet, when I see a modern reverso or tank I just don't give a shit.

That's a nice gruen tho. I imagine some guy at the time getting his first raise at a top job; he goes on down to the jewelry store and sees this futuristic gold gruen that curves with his wrist. Gee Golly!
He's gonna buy himself some of that, and maybe that cute typist blonde on the 22nd floor would finally notice him!

Then WW2. He gets killed by some japs, and his grieving buddy keeps the curvex curved in the s-bend of his anus for 2 years before getting home.

Watch finally ends up on some faggot autist's wrist as he types bullshit on a indonesian shadow puppetry appreciation totempole.

...

How much more is an ETA 2892A2 chronometer vs. a 2824 Top, for example?

(doesn't Omega use the 2892A2 in some Seamasters?)

...

Omega use a heavily modified version of what once was the 2892A2, yes.
Chronometer spec movements meet COSC requirements, whereas TOP run at +/-4s/day, with the 2892 being thinner than a 2824, with a longer power reserve.

>How much more is an ETA 2892A2 chronometer vs. a 2824 Top, for example?
I'd imagine quite a bit more, as that shit's got to be packed up, send to COSC (lmao) and then tested and then return shipped and them cased and sent to your rank ass.

>(doesn't Omega use the 2892A2 in some Seamasters?)
They used the calibre 1120, which is just the above modified aesthetically and with 2 extra jewels somewhere. They were always chronometer grade.

ah quite so, thank you

thats retro af. I like it

simply assuming isn't a source wtf

you can get the same thing on aliexpress for $2-4 depending on the quality
$2 if it's average and $4 if it's good

So boring.
And they couldn't even get the fucking date window the same color as the dial. That smacks of cost cutting laziness where there shouldn't be penny pinching.

The 5196 with the small seconds is infinitely better looking, but again they recycled a tiny weensy movement because they were too lazy and cheap to make something that actually filled the case
>that spacer
lol
At least Lange design new movements commensurate with their new case sizes. Patek is resting on its fucking laurels.

They couldn't be assed to get a Russian movement and the "spaceborn" material never even left the atmosphere. If you must get one on Kickstart error discount because that's the only time they would be marginally worth it, because they are cool looking but are generic in every other regard.

recommend a digital pls

>Omega use a heavily modified version of what once was the 2892A2, yes
No. Not unless you're talking about the early co-axial caliber 2500. That was heavily modified. The old SMP seamaster 300's just mildly prettied up 2892A2's.

He could have easily assuaged this by coming out and saying straight: my shit's made in germany, like I claim. But he didn't, and that silence says more than anything he could've said.

hello retard

guys what shitters are actually good or at least ok? like you wouldn't post them here but you IRL you like them anyway

Infantry.

my old tissot wasn't bad

that actually looks nice user

Cartier Tank, Seiko, Hamilton

it was a nice watch. I sold it though since it wasn't getting any wrist time with my OP in my life
