Best laptop for $1k

No vPro
No dedicated graphics
No touchscreen

Must be 14" to 15.6"
Must have at least 1 ram dimm for upgrades
Must be at least 1080p

Budget is flexible but let's keep it under 1200.

Lenovo T560, job done

HP EliteBook 745 G4 since it's the only good high end AMD laptop

>AMD laptop
fucking kek

>no vPro

pretty much rules out all intel laptops

op here.

no amd

I own a AMD powered laptop (6 years old VAIO). Never gave me any problem.

Yes, i need to buy a new one...

it seems they don't have an i7 version without vPro. Prefer a bit more power than a i5 6200u

Microsoft(tm) Surface with toilet instructions manual free

Is there a reason you don't want vpro specifically? enough that you're willing to refuse the best option?

Lenovo T470

>complaning about vpro when there's still intel ME malware baked in

Get an i5 then and be content, you'll have to compromise somewhere

thinkpads have matte screens right?

Some of them do, the last time I purchased one I had both matte and glossy options

is pic related any good?

no

Are they that bad? Looks bretty nice.

Like this one best so far.

Any suggestions besides thinkpads?

What's the difference in your mind between the T470 and T560?

Get the 13 inch one is better

Between 15" and 14" I'll take the 14". And the t470 doesn't have vPro.

How long have you had it? How is it?

I had a mid range pavilion way back when and it wasn't that bad. One hinge fell off tho.

...

I bought a few 1080p HP 840 g3's at work for about 1200 each. The new docking station style is nice too.

A lot lighter and thinner than the previous hp's. 8440's, 8460's, 640's

Only downside is that I was a big fan of the way the bottoms could be popped off without tools and these can't do that. - The downside of making everything smaller. The older enterprise HP's were super easy to replace parts, keyboards, fans, memory, battery, etc....

A few months, and I haven't seen anything bad about the build quality at all but I do baby it. It's a 2-in-1 version so the hinge should hopefully be durable, the hinge style gets decent enough reviews but I haven't put it through much abuse

Soldered 16GB ram by the way, but replaceable M2 drive

The envy 15t's have 2 dimms non soldered. And 2 drive bays. Tempting as fuck.

Does yours have the exhaust directed at the hinge? That's the only thing I'm not crazy about. How can it stay cool with the exhaust blocked like that?

Sup Forums, what are your thoughts on getting a thinkpad for $90-100?

Anyone ever get one?

If you can go $150 more
I bought a T520 for school last week for $250, I've been using it non-stop

quad core i7 2.20ghz, 12gb, 9 cell battery lasts for a bit less than 5 hours but I can add a slice battery if i'm really desperate

i'm actually typing on it right now

So, you think $150 should be the minimum?
How's the overall 'feel' of it? Is it comfy?

I would say price really depends on the model. Originally I was going for a T420 but I really wanted a 1080p screen and didnt want to do the mod by getting a custom board from china to convert the adapters or any of that bullshit so I upped from 14" to 15.6"

T420 should be $100-$150

But this T520 is maximum comfy, I really dig the trackpoint, never used it before

I can lay on my bed with my cat on my chest and I can still use the keyboard and cursor

Exhaust on the side, intake on bottom, I think it's the Spectres with the exhaust pointed at the screen

you must have the 2016? guess they went full retard and crammed the exhaust under the hinge.

this is the only envy 13 I can find on there

guess it makes sense, sacrifice ideal cooling for fully upgradable RAM and 2 drives in an ultra book

trannyboot x220
>b-but that's not 14"
fuck off, 14" is too big anyway

>$1k budget
>unironically recommends a x220

stop trying to validate your inability to afford a new laptop, pajeet

some trannyboot x220s are over 1k you fucking mongoloid

Lenovo y50 with ssd

MSI GL62M. Couple of my friends have them that play games pretty well. You can find them on ebay craigslist or if you have one, frys electronics.

You have to accept no new laptops are worth anywhere near 1K and your best off getting a used laptop. Whether it be a chinkpad or toddlerbook. Buying new is not worth it.

>Buying used
Valid point. I kind of have an irrational fear about touching other people's semen stains though.

How do I know they didn't overheat the shit out of it? Keep it on sitting on a bed for 3 months 24/7 and fry the internals? Wear the shit out of the HDD downloading torrents?

Craigslist is a meme in my area, and ebay is like russian roulette with worse odds.

Regarding the semen you can always use disinfectant wipes to clean it and just accept your wrists and fingers are going top touch cum and you can always replace the HDD on old machines which i always suggest you do. Preferably to a small SSD since mass storage is a meme on laptops

Think I'm going to get the t470, maybe t470s. Gonna check out that hp envy tho.

Where should I look for used thinkpads? Ebay?

>3840 x 2160
for what purpose

x1 carbon if you don't care about the upgrades

I got a refurbished XPS 15 9550 from dell outlet for 1000, it has amazing specs

>Just accept your going to touch cum
No

Not OP, but after weighing my options between zenbooks, elitebooks, the xps 15 and t470, I decided to go with the T470p.

>i5-7300HQ
>8Gb RAM
>nvidia geforce 940mx 2Gb RAM
>1440p IPS matte non-touch screen
>256Gb SSD

I only wanted the xps 15 because of the 1050 so I could play video games but I realised I could spend my free time more productively.
