How pick and position a lamp to illuminate a book that's between the monitor and the keyboard without the lamp shining onto the monitor screen?

Also, how do you deal with paperback programming (or other computer-related which require a "hands-on" approach to work through) books so that it stays flat so that you're free to type? Hardback books are somewhat more managable in this regard, but paperbacks seem to be a real pain.

The stuff in front of the monitors seems to be more illuminated by the monitors rather than the lamp tbqh.

How high is the ceiling btw., seems quite high. I hope you live in climate without harsh winters, lest heating costs be exorbitant (although with all that gear you have there maybe you couldn't care less anyways).

Because it's supposed to be "just good enough to casually listen, but not better", just like Youtube used to be (and still is with many materials which are copyrighted and just allowed there as "lo-fi fair use").

7.5/10. the lamp looks nice, tasteful dual screen and good mouse/keyboard. 2nd lamp will add much needed balance, and I'd recommend getting some monitors. A good set of M-Audios will cost under $100 USD and won't restrain you with a headphone cord. Another plus: you can crank up your shit really loud and annoy the neighbors.

take down those tasteless posters. Put away all those lotion bottles and windex. Stack textbooks neatly on left table. Get rid of that ugly fiberboard box your PC is sitting on. Manage your cables or at least make an effort. You only need 1 coaster, not 3. I dont know what that round thing is under your desk but toss it. get new lightbulbs or lampshades- that yellow light coming from the right side is horrible. It needs to be a clean, white light if you dont want it to clash with the weird purple wall light thing. Hide your router/modem. take down that baseboard heater. You can complete this in less than a day, and the result will be an 8/10 setup. Plusses: keyboard, mouse and monitor are all good looking.

All the other light bulbs I have tried in the ceiling fan burn out in a week, these at least last for a little longer. I rarely if ever have it on anymore though.

ah, well if you're moving soon then just keep it functional and then do a thorough setup in your new place. But take heed about the yellow lights- you can't have antique looking yellowed light and that wall light too. Make sure you take care of that at your new place

My issues are that this current place is small, there are many electric issues (such as the limited amount of lights that work in the ceiling fan downstairs), and the fact that I cannot put holes in my walls.

As it stands I will likely be losing my security deposit because of my pets merely living here and because those wall lights are held up with 3m foam, but fuck my landlord.

in all seriousness, do whatever you can to keep your deposit. use a knife to get some quarter sized flakes of paint off the wall and take it to Home Depot. in the paint section they have a matching machine that will formulate the exact same shade and gloss. It's less than 10 bucks for a small bottle and you can fix up any holes n shit on the wall. I accidentally busted a hole in my girlfriend's room wall and i fixed it with a wall patching kit and matched paint for less than 20 bucks. Parents never found out and you can't even tell now. dont get jewed by the landlords, user.

The reasoning is that the UV load is so high here that when you patch and then paint over the holes you would need to repaint entire rooms to not get really bright spots of new paint versus all the sunbleached old paint.

They actually handed me a finishing nail when I moved in and said this is the maximum allowable hole size, I almost laughed in her face until I realized she was dead serious.

See above and coupled with having pets I am already prepared to get buttfucked in new and interesting ways in regards to getting my money back.

While I dont like the litter box aspect of owning cats I dont mind the rest of the antics they bring to my life so much.

They are generally fairly amusing creatures, even when they misbehave.

i think people have pretty much stopped hoarding .22, especially with Trumpu in office. for 200 bucks (which will come from your safety deposit) you can get the best semiauto .22 in existence, the Ruger 10/22. really cheap ammo, pretty quiet, perfect for pest control, and will even work for self defense or deer hunting in a pinch. pic related

oh, and perfect for executing nasty dirty housepets
