Difficult to say, I tweaked it several times after it's install. It wasn't just one ricing session, but alot of small improvements over the time.

Not him but it does not take long. Grab a tiling wm from the repos, set gaps and find the startup config (herbsluftwm this is all one file) and set compton to start on load. Shadow everything except for statusbars (filter them with info collected from xprop in compton.conf) and just tweak. In hlwm you can just throw a feh call early in the autostart to set the background. I set up a simple script to grab images from nik.bot.nu and set them as background on boot as well as saving the images to disk. Lots of stuff you can do to rice but the hard part is keeping everything usable when you start scripting. Also make sure to back up configs

No, the hard part is actually picking a good color-scheme and sticking with it. That's what most desktops do wrong.

Actually yeah I agree. I don't have the style to even pick a good colorscheme but even copying one it is a PITA to keep everything consistent. Shouldn't be too hard to script a sync between xresources and hlwm and maybe vimrc though

It feels like I'm trying to make a cake with too many substitute ingredients. I got most of my software (neofetch, libreoffice, etc.) from SlackBuild and that Alien guy's Slack-version repository. It just werks to an extent; it's not like *ubuntu where you got it all right there at your fingertits, you'll have to install some packages/software for ease of access with things (ex. basic picture viewer, scrot).
Ballsackally pretty good but be ready to hit the books.

just google "border-only xfwm" you can drag the windows with alt so you don't really need it anyway.

And yes void is comfy as fuck. I'd recommend it unless you have some super niche software you can't get from it's repos, though even then you can still compile it.

forgot to mention the border color of that xfwm theme obeys your primary GTK color so you can use it with anything.

It tickles that suckless kind of autism, in particular.
runit is good, packages are split up yet it still requires extremely few packages. xbps doesnt seem special under the hood as far as I can tell, but is just extremely comfy and nice, in that its simple and intuitive to remember the commands, the output is just what it needs to be, and it has just enough features.
the ports system also lets you compile features into or out of programs, though the options for that arent nearly as extensive as gentoo. its nice to use for a few major ackages like firefox.
partly cause its one of the few things thatk inda sucks a little, in that you have to hold packages you compile with it and deal with them manually. its still nice to have both binary and source packages though.
