"There are only four distros worth bothering with

Debian
Arch
Cent
Mint"

Discuss.

No,
Debian
Ubuntu
Manjaro
OpenSUSE
Fedora
and
RHEL/CentOS

manjaro
pfsense
cumulus

I dunno, I would personally replace Ubuntu with Mint because I don't trust whatever the fuck Canonical are up to these days.

>arch
>no packages
WOW

I'm not an Arch user but yes, that graphic has some explaining to do.

>Mint
You blew it.

Ubuntu or openbsd

>"There are only four distros worth bothering with
Debian
Debian
Debian
Debian

I disagree. New users have to start somewhere.

>implying debian has better performance than ubuntu
>implying debian is more customisable than ubuntu

you mean because Unity is shit? just install another DE or choose another flavor if you're too retarded to do that.

...

>all 6 have the same, high, level of security
did an archfag make this image?

When is that from?
Mandrake and Mandriva; kek..

>Mint and ubuntu use literally the same installer
>Marked differently

Nice chart user

>no Fedora/RHEL
>Arch is on the list at all
>Mint
we can all see who doesn't have a job in the industry here
the only correct choices are

Debian
Fedora
Ubuntu
RHEL
CentOS

>Fedora, CentOS in industry
>no SUSE

There are only four distros worth bothering with

Gentoo
Arch
Slackware
Linux from Scratch

ft4u

coreos

Arch deserves more Docs, package and community. Look at wiki, AUR and forums for proof.

>arch
>no community
It's wiki is a standard. The Arch Forums are always top ranked google results. Nice b8

GuixSD though

theirs actually 0
install macOS

It also said Mint has good security.

This is a bait graph for a bait thread. Saged.

owo

No.

BLAG Linux and GNU

Dragora GNU/Linux-Libre

Dynebolic

gNewSense

Guix System Distribution

Musix

Parabola GNU/Linux-libre

Trisquel

Ututo XS

Debian

Hardened Gentoo with non-free packages turned off.

Debian
Ubuntu
Fedora
openSUSE

aka distros with actual governing bodies behind them and not ragtag groups of autists

ubuntu (flavors, mint)
redhat (fedora, centOS)
that's it

there are great distros outside this list (like SUSE) but they're simply not relevant.

>Mint

Better than Ubuntu but jesus christ, no. I'd recommend Antergos over it.

why even rate "desktop" when you can just swap to your preferred DE

mint is based off ubuntu dumbass

totally

>Arch
>No docs
>Arch wiki has more documentation then all those others combined
????

You missed out Arch, pleb.

you spelled Void wrong OP

also how the fuck does debian get a low score for installation? it has a GUI that's easier than openSUSE's install GUI but suse is rated higher?

and
>ubuntu low on performance
>fedora scoring high in anything
>ubuntu being low on customize

have you used anything but fedora ever?

this is true arch has the best documentation of any distro. I use archwiki constantly and I don't even use arch

Ubuntu for server.
Mint for home use.

It just werks

Openbsd
Freebsd
Netbsd
Plan9

Next question please

nope.

only three major Linux distros to consider, everything else is simply an redundant.

Arch
Debian
Suse

as far as desktop goes, that's the way it is. fuck anyone who says otherwise. that's the three major players.

SUSE is known as a bit of a joke

Completely agree, minus Mint.

Data centres

>FreeBSD

Enterprise

>RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu

Home desktop/workstation

>Fedora/Ubuntu

Why do you fags keep shilling mint? They take ubuntus base and add trivial and sometimes repo breaking shit, without adding anything of value.
If you want lean ubuntu use netinstall and pick your desktop from there. Mint is irrevelant at best and broken at worst.

Same shit with Ubuntu though. Might as well just use Debian.

>also how the fuck does debian get a low score for installation?
I guess it's because of the process from choosing an ISO to burn it, it's not trivial

many still never bother with installing the drivers for wifi, and while it's clear on the instructions, it's not immediately obvious to do it

next year is going to be very true, just installing Debian Gnome and maybe moving from stable would do the trick

There is only one Linux and it is CentOS.

>the poor mans RHEL

For all intents and purposes it IS rhel. Who needs to pay for support?

All Linux distributions are pure shit.

Installation = GUI/NET installer
Arch is netinstall just like debian.
debian repo is larger.

>Mandrake and Mandriva; kek..
that's probably ~2008ish

Replace arch with void
*buntus are enough

No systemd allowed on NEET paradise

(。>﹏

Mint? What's the deal with these shills? Use fucking ubuntu, it's better in every way possible (that says a LOT).
But really, all dpkg distros need to die. and arch is shit. centos could be ok, but why bother when Alpine is just better? Alpine is the future. Package manager that's not shit. No bloat by default. Can be as small as 2 megabytes. Just perfect.

Ultimately, Linux is trash. Use openbsd + 9front.

obviously this list is for thinkpads and VMs

it may be more of an EU thing but it's definitely relevant

Why not debian for server?

Debian on... Desktop?

>There are only four distros worth bothering with
All of them come from Berkeley. :^)

Those distros respect your freedom of CHOICE and Arch has Systemd default

With Ubuntu most People include its derivatives because they're mostly just Ubuntu with a Different DE. Mint is just Ubuntu with Cinneamon and a better Driver Manager

Why is Desktop even a parameter in this arbitrary rating?

You can install whatever you want on any of these distros, and if you are referring to the default UI available, Fedora and Ubuntu have 4 different UI releases of which the higher ranking OSs use. Why are they lower than Mint and SUSE for Desktop?

I'm building a new kind of distro... purely web-based. but its shit... goto myshit.xyz (with the "right" browser).

>Unoobtoo
no,thank you

>manjaro
Are you not able to install arch?

>RHEL/Cent OS
for a desktop? Really?
>pleb

>Gentoo
>Slackware
what kind of retarded faggot are you ?

mint is nice. I switched after that gnome3 mistake. Mint provided a nice default DE (mate/cinnamon), speed and stability (until recently)

What kind of chart is this even? The fuck is "hardware" in an OS? You can use 2 words to just say hardware support if that's what you mean. And how is Debian less "installation" than "cutting edge"? And why are they all on the same level of "security", you can't convince me that they're all exactly the same in that regard.

Just add void instead of arch and you're good to go

mainly cli ubuntu (via crouton) inside of ChromeOS/gentoo, with occasional usage of xfce4 inside of a tab, if i absolutely need graphics to run inkscape, or maybe gimp. srsly, this entire question of "what's your fave distro" is so archaic what with < $200 chromebooks that you can put into developer mode (so easy) and just STOP FUCKING WORRYING!!!

Debian stable is excellent on desktop for stability and productivity: for those who love the OS but also need to get work done. It also has great repos. A better question would be: why Cent on desktop?

No.

Debian, openSUSE, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware.

You have no clue what you're talking about at all.

Replace arch with Gentoo and mint with fedora.

I would make one like this
>Fedora -- Used as a test bed for many programs. Super cutting edge.

>Debian -- Ultra stable and configurable. Used in loads of servers.

>Ubuntu -- It and its derivatives are the ultimate Windows replacements.

>Arch -- Super bleeding edge, well documented and endlessly customizable. Super minimal by default.

>Puppy -- Super low resource consumption yet easy to install.

>Gentoo -- More stable, endlessly customizable and super minimal by default.

>Qubes -- Ultimate security distro. Sand boxing unlike any other.

>Tails -- Best USB distro. Super secure.

Everything else is too old, inferior or derivative

Dollar > Cent

Gentoo
Fedora
Debian

Also,
>no community

You're a special kind of retard aren't you

You can remove systemd on arch

Someone changed the labels.

Same to debian.

linux sucks

Debian for me, currently installing it on this PC

Pentium III 800EB
4x128MB SDRAM
120GB IDE + 80GB IDE (Installed in RAID-0, swap in RAID-1 across both HDD)
MB 815E Pro Ver:1
ATI AGP 4650 1GB DDR2

install gentoo
