It would be shit even under Greek rule, don't worry.

I doubt Greeks could've kept it any better than Turks did.

Greeks and Turks are equally shit at architecture/city planning

...

and this city was built by aliens?

...

Constantinople was actually built by Romans.

Byzantine architecture is actually quite unassuming. If you've ever been to a Byzantine church, even the famous ones such as the Chora in Istanbul, the first thing you're likely to be struck by is their compactness and roughly cubic outline. It was the dark ages and all, but Turkish mosques are superior to Byzantine churches.

...

I am greek

>Turkish mosques are superior to Byzantine churches.
most of the Turkish mosques are copies of Hagia Sophia

>but Turkish mosques are superior to Byzantine churches.
they're actually same thing

I think you meant catholics.

>The rivalry between the Blues and Greens often became mingled with political or religious rivalries, and sometimes riots, which amounted to civil wars that broke out in the city between them. The most severe of these was the Nika riots of 532, in which an estimated 30,000 people were killed [3] and many important buildings, such as the second Hagia Sophia Church, were destroyed. The current (third) Hagia Sophia was built by Justinian following the Nika Revolt.

>Constantinople never really recovered from its sack during the Fourth Crusade and even though the Byzantine Empire survived until 1453, by that time, the Hippodrome had fallen into ruin.

It's a good thing the Turks took it or they would have destroyed the 3rd hagia sofia as well.

>don't even quote directly
>not mad
yes you are mad baby

are there any reconstruction pics of the first and second hagia sophia?

also fuck off, I would rather have hagia sophia be destroyed than getting fucking minarets

@60256110
>baby
*gets behind u*
*unsheathes katana*
Heh.... you better watch your words.... kid....
*teleports away*

It looks boring without minarets desu

are you joking?

I agree with him actually

No. It looks bald and boring. The minarets make it stand out more.

340/10 true...!

I think I agree with him, although I'm Christian and Byzantinebro. Probably I would like the Hagia Sophia without minarets for a year, but after that I'm going to miss that actually. They just make it look more impressive.

>one of the greatest landmarks of European history desecrated with additions of an enemy culture
>b-but it looks better now
kill yourselfs, total cucks

also it doesn't even look better aesthetically, these minarets clearly stand out

Jesus christ

Literally a living proof why whites and asians shouldnt mix.

I thought I was ugly

don't worry, bro, you still are

>Turks ruined this

>Filthy Korab trying to defecate upon our decent relations with Turks

Istanbul, NOT Constantinople - OK, praise Allah.

Looks better now

Korab prides himself as an expert in architecture - yet he doesn't know how Bizantine influences have been kept alive through Islamic architecture for over a millenium.

As others said Ottoman mosques are copies of Byzantine architecture but Seljuk mosques differ a bit

I remember having heard that when the Turks took Constantinople, they remade Hagia Sophia into a mosque instead of demolishing it like with a regular church. It was mentioned that it was because Sultan Mehmet II believed it to be far too great and beautiful to simply be destroyed. It was still in pretty bad shape after the initial sacking due to looting and pillaging though.

Destroying churchs wasnt the the thing for Ottomans. It is waste of resources. And for churches it is an Islamic tradition to convert biggest church of the city to mosque.
