This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
For many years dominos pizza had an internal policy of awarding a rolex to office staff who had either been there 25 years or had completed a certain amount of deals. I forget which. Either way, it's an award.
a dominos rolex of course, as a reward for managing staff the more recent one have the logo on the strap. more companies have done thazt as well.
Charles Morgan
I mean, that's a great reward. But who would actually wear that with the dominoes logo on it?
Adam Hughes
people who earned it
John Peterson
>But who would actually wear that with the dominoes logo on it? Someone who worked hard to get the award I guess. They litter the net, and are (or should be) cheaper than an unmarked dial because, like I said, who would want to buy one of these 2nd hand? On the stores I look at, these things sit there for years and years in inventory, same with those gulf arab crest rolexes.
Michael Rogers
I just looked on ebay and they only have the Domino's logo on the bracelet and case back. Are those fake?
>tfw only way to afford a rolex
Ian Bell
The article user linked shows that they abandoned the dial decal for bracelet icons. Dunno about casebacks.
Samuel Wright
2016 Datejust 36mm so it has the 3135 movement.

I am waiting for this to come out. I like the look of it, and unlike some of the other prospex divers it isnt too big.
Easton Watson
I would unironically buy it, put it on a NATO and wear it ironically.

Daily reminder that mechanical watches are just jewelry for trannies. These watches can't keep proper time, have abysmal power reserve and might break if you clap too hard. And don't forget the necessary 'servicing' to keep them fuckers spinning.
Levi Lewis
Do pahtek have the best ads? >beautiful parents >photogenic future-model kids >pulling heartstrings for that "muh heirloom" spiel
Caleb James
Nothing about the technical achievements or accuracy, just fluff.
I must admit I admire whoever came up with is ad campaign of theirs. It must have been super effective. Too bad the watches are now riddled with technical and quality issues lol.

I personally hate it. >durr hurr you never own what you bought

love that desu
Kayden Sanders
Had it on the wrist at a local store, I really love the proportions of the bracelet.
Though I really hope Seiko releases a rubber strap or something. Or someone figures out a way to use nato straps.

Where do I buy a thick 2-piece nylon watch strap in Europe that isn't flimsy shit? Something like this guy has on the top right watch.
Angel Barnes
Just assuming that is Nylon. Feel free to correct me.

my daily work watch I use the chronograph to time how long i take a dump for at the office. I try to finish before the 5 min mark. anything over 5 mins people start to get suspicious and know you are taking a dump.
anyway, all of my watches are timex. I love timex. Eventually I want to get a nicer more expensive watch, but for now my small timex collection are my dependable buddies.
Noah Sullivan
you should get a vintage mechanical timex

I have a cheap timex expedition, picked it up for 50€. Love the look of it. The only thing that bothers me is that the seconds pointer is abit off.
Grayson Cruz
any recommendations? i'v never seen mechanical timex when I shop around.
heres my most expensive timex. I really like how it looks.
Oliver Perry
Yes I have experience this as well in a couple of my timex. My autism goes off the charts I wish i can open it up and fix it but I know i'll end up ruining it.

they don't make any mechanical ones anymore. an user here has an old camper.

Watch Band Center has a big selection and is in Germany. Pay attention especially for the EULIT canvas straps.
Aiden Ward
Everybody poops, didn't you learn that in kindergarten?
Easton Gutierrez
Can't find any canvas straps by Eulit for 18mm lugs. Only perlon and leather stuff. Thanks anyway!
>I mean, that's a great reward. But who would actually wear that with the dominoes logo on it?
As other user said, people who earned it.
But even I would wear one as I don't think there's any "shame" in having a Domino's logo on the watch considering it's a factory Rolex dial, and I think it would be a fun conversation piece.
Yeah it's a little tacky but I view it more on the side of interesting and unique.

The watches were awarded to general managers if their stores mainained very high sales and 5 star inspection rating for 3 months straight. I forget the dollar amount, it was high but obtainable.higher volume store managers got theirs if they really put their mind to in, lower volume stores had a tough time with it.
Nobody really wore them in public, they are tacky. But corporate level management wore them when they visited stores and performed the inspections. They are also worn at some business functions. Its a status symbol.

I'm going on a cross continent trip for a couple of months and will be taking my old dw5600e with me, but I'll be leaving the other dw5600e that I recently bought, home. If I wanted to make sure the battery wont leak while its in my drawer for two months, can i simply take out the battery and leave it unpowered? Nothing is going to happen, right?
Blake Wood
why would i spend an entire months salary on a watch?
Aaron Morales
3, but go to EBay where it's $325.
Gabriel Williams
Dude, the battery won't leak. It doesn't care that it's in a drawer. To the battery, it's the same as being on your wrist. You'll be fine.
