I need help getting a motherboard for my Ryzen 1600x. I'm upgrading from an i5 6500. I have narrowed it down to an x370 and b350 motherboard. I need to be able o overclock to 3.9-4.0mghz and stable ram at 2933mghz. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my ax370 gaming 5 runs my 1600 stable at 3.78ghz 1.31875v and ddr4-3000 at 2933.
Has it crashed on you at all?
>I have narrowed it down to an x370 and b350 motherboard
have they even released other chipsets yet?
at 3.8ghz it does, but only after like 1+ hour of aida64. not since ive lowered it.
ASUS Prime X370 Pro + R7 1700 owner here
Keep it at 3.8ghz and haven't had a single crash. 2933 isn't a problem either. Have had zero issues since I got both in March.
Would easily recommend.
Asus b350 + r7 1700 @ 3.9 + ddr4-3000. It's stable, just had to max out the offset volts for the cpu and soc. Asus set them stupidly low though, 1.15 for soc and 1.385 for cpu. Still doing stability testing, but it passed 4+ hours of P95.
typical intel user, they're used to being force fed z series to get any features
Sounds good I was thinking about this mobo
This sounds good too would you recommend it?
same system here. been running a minecraft server 2 months now
Buildzoid did a comparison of all the B350 motherboards yesterday, judging by VRM quality.
youtube.com
Top tier:
MSI Gaming Pro Carbon
MSI Krait
Good tier:
Asus B350-Plus
All other MSIs except the B350M Gaming Pro
ASRock Pro4
ASRock Fatality Gaming K4
Okay tier:
B350M Gaming Pro
Shit tier
Everything else, including every Gigabyte board
avoid MSI with their shit mosfets and general shit power delivery
only get asus if Crosshair or whatever its called
Gigabyte Gaming k5 is the same as k7
Taichi is the best hands down of all the boards, but expensive as shit
pretty much find out what vrms and shit any mobo has before buying them, as even the msi xpower has pretty shitty power delivery
i'm running a crosshair vi hero but that be overkill for a 1600x.
I'd recommend the following for a 1600x:
>MSI B350 GAMING PRO CARBON / B350 KRAIT GAMING
Its the best B350 board(s) out there VRM wise. It might be shitty niko's, but MSI tossed enough on that board to make it decent. It has the strongest VRM setup out of all B350 boards and will run the 1600X with ease. Even for overclocking.
>ASUS Prime X370 Pro
The prime x370 is a good board. Price wise it sits between the MSI B350 pro carbon and the Gigabyte Gaming 5. It uses a 8+2 VRM design and its good enough for an 8 core. Doesn't have all the bling as the gaming 5 though and only its VRM quailitly makes it more worth while than the MSI Carbon. But since you're using a 1600X, its not worth while.
>Gigabyte Gaming 5
Solid board for the most part. Identical to the K7 but lacks the BCLK generator and black paint. Everything else is identical. VRM setup is very strong and price is under $200. Again, not needed for the 1600X but its there if you want bling and extra features.
yeah sure what ever, haven't had jewtel since my 400mhz celeron
sadlly all of these board are really badly equipped
none of them have 5 jack an 6 sata
most of them don't even have a optic output
I got the x370 prime pro and a 1600 for a relative with 3200 RAM, do I have to do anything special to make the RAM work when everyone's saying it runs at 2933?
Op here should I invest in a 4k monitor considering that in about a year the GPUs will be able to produce 4k with 60fps. Or should I wait and see how things play out?
i just enabled the xmp profile and was good to go.
yes
...
Moving my question over there..
Just got a 1600 with the gaming 5, mines sat at 3.9 GHz at 1.34v and my memory runs fine at 3200mhz using the f5 bios.
When I lower the voltage anymore I get minor freezes when stress testing, but 1.34 has been fine so far with 30 mins of occt testing and multiple hours of gaming.
I'm the asus prime x370 pro+R7 1700 owner from above.
I also purchased a AOC 28inch 4k 60hz freesync 1ms monitor at the same time. I am very happy with it. I have not upgraded my graphics card from my older 290x because I am waiting to see what vega puts out. do the same.
No. HDR10 monitors are coming later this year and you'll miss out on that buying one now for later.
Why the fuck do manufacturers think that RGB is a selling point for Motherboards. My computer isn't a fucking disco REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Probably because they're catering to the entire market and what they want, based on extensive market research. Rather than pandering to some autist who gets upset about LEDs. Turn them off in the BIOS if it bothers you so much. Or better yet, don't be a faggot with a windowed case in the first place.
>Upgrading from i5 6500
Why?
>buying ryzen
>Ever
Why would you downgrade from an IT 6500 to shitty AMD ryzen r5 processor ?
Do you not care out performance or your house not burning down?
Enjoy your horrible game performance and lack of friends
The 1$ they put in-to nice lights should be put in higher quality components.
I know It may be hard to believe but you can step up 2tiers of quality for cents when mass prroducing.
>I'm upgrading from an i5 6500
Lol that's a sidegrade at best
>2017
>i5 corelet

Rgb is the biggest garbage to happen to computing it's fucking stupid.
Maybe because what op does isn't centered around gayming.
Oh yeah, because every mid-range board used premium components before the rise of gaudy LEDs after all. Good argument, brainlet.
Yeah, it's not intrusive DRM and spyware, hardware botnets with gaping security holes or 1% performance increases between generations. It's a few LEDs that you can switch off and won't even see if you're not a complete faggot who owns a case with a windowed side panel.
You fucking retard.
You know you can argue without being mean.
b350 tomohawk 1700 here
keep it at 4.0 ghz at 1.367 volt, not a single crash
