How bad is it, really?
How bad is it, really?
run it on a VM and see for yourself. Shit won't take longer than 20 minutes to install. Also sage
without all the shitty bloat like Cortana, Store, Apps, etc (ie LTSB 2016)
it's actually pretty decent and comfy
>inb4 freetard screams 'THELEMTRY'
rude
When windows 10 is running on your machine, there isn't a single thing you do on your machine or home network that isn't relayed back to MS for datamining and "user feedback".
Your "personal computer" belongs to microsoft for all intents and purposes.
what's the name of the software that debloated/reconfigured windows 10? it was pretty popular but i cant find it anywhere, not even on the installgentoo wiki

blackbird?
THELEMTRY
Cortana is dope until you find out it starts memorizing your porn fetish search terms in everyday applications completely viewable to the public and classroom during your presentations.
not, it had a proper interface, although I have to ask, is blackbird any good/recommended?
Complete garnage. A bugfest and spyware on top of that.
I literally just installed LTSB last night and can't activate it with Windows Toolkit for some reason. Any help?
Is that really a thing?
You got the eval version, didn't you user.
I like it.
Shit dude i don't even know.
How do i check that?
fucking lol
Did you go to Microsoft's site and download the iso? Then you got the eval version which can't be activated.
From Pirate Bay, actually.

Oh..try verifying the checksum to confirm it's a legit disc and then get something like KMSpico from the MDL forum.
Here are the VL ones that you need:

I don't understand why people on Sup Forums always point other people to the EVAL builds..
it logs you off when it requires 'updates'
its absolute garbage
buggy as hell
slow .. and it slows down (NTFS4)
it has the registry which means that it's wide open to viruses, trojans
there are ads on it
nothing is private
you have to pay for it

Tits or gtfo.

Only after several weeks or putting it off.
>its absolute garbage
So is your life.
>buggy as hell
Not for me it isn't, in fact it's far less buggy than Linux.
>slow .. and it slows down (NTFS4)
Never had such an issue, then again I have a job and can afford to use hardware from this decade (SSD).
>it has the registry which means that it's wide open to viruses, trojans
This is the most retarded thing I've heard all day, just stop talking about things you have no idea about.
>there are ads on it
Suggestions which can all be turned off.
>nothing is private
False, completely false on so many levels.
>you have to pay for it
Time for you to get a job you fucking freetard, those goodboy points wont buy you shit when your parents finally die or kill themselves from the shame of you existing.
dumb frogposter
If you aren't autistic about "leh telemetreee" meme and you use Enterprise it's pretty good. Personally I like my Windows 10.
>lol why are you so bothered that your OS is spying on you and you can't disable it?
ntlite
...
>Attacks the frog, because he can't come up with a decent rebuttal
Classic Shillary
How does that dick in your ass feel?
But you can on the LTSB edition you autist. Also do you have any idea how basic telemetry even works? You and others like you keep parroting the same meme again and again instead of researching a bit about what "telemetry" means.
...
There is nothing good about TEN other than storage spaces (but that feature is only useful for like File Servers). Ask yourself, "How can Ten improve on what you do now with 7/8/8.1?" If answer is nothing, then keep what OS you have now. There is nothing that TEN brings to the table that I need. Nothing that I do now with 7 would improve with the sudden change to TEN. So why bother. My current rig just werks so I'll keep right on using it. The whole UEFI boot thing is really a crock of shit. Useless unless your wanting a boot drive past 2TB in size. That's the only benefit to having a UEFI bios. With the wide spread of SSD drives now and since most are under 500GB why the hell would you even need a UEFI bios motherboard anyway? Answer: you don't. (Data drives don't have any restrictions on size, you could stuff a 10TB drive in a pc with reg bios and it'd work just fine. Just format it as GPT and your done)
See Minimal data is not zero data.
I just don't care for the interface. I find that things that were previously in plain view and available are intentionally tucked away.
Some of this is learning curve, but every time I've used it on somebody else's PC, I've missed Win7.
>031ED6ACDC47B8F582C781B039F501D83997A1CF
Yup, checked.
And thank you! The KMSpico one worked for me. Thanks a ton user, have a great day.
And thank you too, verified.
Have a good day too, Femanon.
It amazes me that you put time and effort into writing that shit post
Sounds like something you should ask your mother about rather than me, or is that why you are such an angry little boy?
It's a very stable operating system. Unfortunate that a fresh install has you hunting down google search results for hours so you can disable shit like the built in virus scanner (which murders older machines) and telemetry, and of course, cortana.
They're eventually going to phase out the old control panel interface in favor of the systems setting menu which is neither as feature rich or easy to navigate. But hey, touch screen friendly.

You are a retard sorry lad.
Enjoy your forced updates, 10S upgrade, telemetry, botnet, location tracking and Microsoft-only software

I'm so pissed off right now!
If you want to save money and use an OS that respects your freedom and privacy, I recommend giving GNU/Linux or BSD a try.

Get Wireshark or something, and figure out where they send that info. Then block those addresses with a third party firewall.
>needing a third party firewall in a separate device in order to control your OS
Do that and it'll go insane if it can't send the data
Literally formatted my whole disk (had Win7) and installed Windows 10 today. Absolutely perfect. Just turn off the stupid data sharing - if you do that it's the best OS in the market.
What if it hides some network activity from Wireshark?
Nah man I don't think you understand. If I choose to provide telemetry data to help improve a product of my own volition fair enough, but forcing me too? Microsoft can fuck off, if they want me to beta test their OS they can pay me.
Can't you just delete the executable that provices Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry?
>thinks you can "just turn off" the telemetry
Yess and no. I tried WireShark and explorer.exe sends data. You can't do much about it
you can't turn off the data sharing friend
I'm not sure if that's even possible
Not sure OP, I've never tried it, but let's have a look at that license agreement:
microsoft.com
>you may not publish, copy, rent, lease, or lend the software
>you may not work around any technical restrictions or limitations in the software
>you may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
>you may not install the software on a server and allow users to access it remotely
Standard proprietary bullshit. Hosting a minecraft server on Windows 10 is apparently a license violation now.
LTSB shills are certainly out in force today.
Do you understand how an OS works?
You're not implying that consumer versions (Home, Pro or even Enterprise) are better. I hope..
I'm saying they're all awful. Not necessarily all the same degree of awful, but all some degree of awful nonetheless.
It's Windows-tier.
At least there are games.
if you guys dont want cortana and dont want telemetry get windows 10 education. you can get a free key if you're in college
Or just use GNU/Linux or BSD instead.
sure if you're going to go into the tech field but for normal people who dont give a shit about GNU/linux, windows 10 education is the best
Why is it "the best"?
no cortana , you can turn off most of the windows 10 spying like you can in windows 10 enterprise. , bitlocker etc
>you can turn off most of the windows 10 spying
>most
Truly the best OS ever, user. It stands head and shoulders above GNU/Linux.
I can do the same shit with 7 and have to do none of that other stuff.
but w10 performs better and has that mem compression tech that is sexy
10 Education is garbage. It's CB/CBB only to begin with which makes it shit. Also has Store, Cortana (as of 1703), METRO applications, lacks the Win32 calculator, has Edge, etc.. It's a glorified Pro version.
LTSB is fantastic. Anything other than that is trash.
what makes it so good?
>you may not install the software on a server and allow users to access it remotely
that language pretty much excludes installing windows at all on an internet connected machine, much less running a minecraft server
>no metro apps
>no cortana
>only get security updates
>turn off a shit ton of stuff with group policy editor
>sends the minimum amount of data to microsoft which is MSRT and defender data (which you can disable) so it isn't very intrustive
Apparently MS employees themselves have told people to stay away from Creators Update.
What went wrong?
yes you can morons
It just adds snake oil such as "Game Mode"
Doesn't enforce an OS reinstallation every six months (the "upgrade" from one OS build to another is a full reinstallation in fact, LTSB will always remain on the build it cam out)
No Store
No Edge
No METRO applications
No Cortana
has Win32 Calc.exe
It's better than any version of 10, though still shit compared to 7.
>>sends the minimum amount of data to microsoft which is MSRT and defender data (which you can disable) so it isn't very intrustive
Read again, it sends more than MSRT/MSE. It sais it includes this data, not limited to:
It's "Windows 10" bad
I use it. I like a lot of the features, and have nothing to hide so I really don't care enough to change OSs. Call me bluepilled, but unless I'm hiding some super secret information, why should I even care enough to not use the OS even if there is a way for them to look at all my shit? Not saying it's okay, or going with the mentality of 'if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear', it's just that I personally don't care if they see my files because they're not going to find anything interesting.
>Windows education edition
>can't study or modify the source code
Please call me when any of these proprietary companies aren't just completely trying to shit on education.
Telemetry, my dear Watson.
It's a tool man just like ganoo loonix
Shut up newfag before i sage you
You SHOULD have something to hide. I do. I don't want people knowing my personal business.
Is getting windows this way safe? A friend of mine said getting a windows install online is a bad idea since it will be tampered with by bad people that want your information.
that's why you check the iso with this:
microsoft.com
to verify it's been untampered with. It's not 100% sure because SHA1 can be forged, but you can be at least 99% sure it's legit
Out of the box it's pretty frustrating. Now that I have everything configured the way I want, it's behaving itself. Basically the less you have to interact with the OS the happier an experience it becomes.
You're not going to get a good answer out of this board. Nearly every single poster in this thread is a shill for Desktop *NIX. If Windows didn't have telemetry, they'd find some other reason to convince you that it's unusable.
Use the operating system that works for you.
Forgetting Cortana and the Windows Store for a second, it's actually comfy af.
>inb4 telemetry
There's thousands of tools that will disable that. At this point, it's a non-issue (in terms of functionality, not morality).
can you disable the windows store?
