I use Fraps

nvidia shadowplay/amd relive are the best when it comes to quality and cpu usage

obs studio is pretty easy to set up and has a lot of features but quality can be lacking

I wouldn't really bother with fraps, camtasia, dxtory, or whatever else since IMO the 3 best options are all free and simple to use

Shadowplay now requires an account and that you be logged in, provided it even works right since they fucked the Geforce Experience app up horridly and refuse to talk about it. There's one dedicated shitposter who spams them with questions about why the login is needed and has done so for 6+ months and they've either ignored or given him snide responses.

The AMD equivalent is good but you have to have an AMD card.

FRAPS is dead and kinda sucks. Dxtory is alright but why pay when OBS is free?

semi-related, is there any program with a low memory footprint that can add an FPS counter that looks exactly like the one for FRAPS?

I used Ati Tray Tools for that, but it doesn't work for new cards. The Steam FPS counter is impossible to read and only works in steam games.

Nvidia Experience has one, the only difference being the counter is green instead of orange.

And yes, the price of lossless video costs GBs, but I have 17TB in total, so I can spend those GBs with ease.

It clearly states when I use FRAPS and when I don't use it.
Though ShadowPlay has taken over 99% of my video making since I think 130Mbps is quite enough for streaming quality compared to my older 1000-1600Mbps videos.
But for screenshots I still use FRAPS since I'm used to it and want my screenshots in one folder while having a neat FPS counter that isn't shown on the screenshots.
Too bad ShadowPlay shows it.
